I am a us army veteran and I need your help with the following situation. I bought a Mitsubishi 2018 Outlander sport from the manati cooperative in April 2019(VIN: ja4ap3au0jz018346). This vehicle had a recall since September 14, 2018 and I got it April 2019 with electromechanical defects that cause death driving and are a deadly danger. And now the Mitsubishi does not work and cannot be driven due to the recall. The above should be considered a lemon law case and I need your help with this violation of my constitutional rights. Respectfully, tom a. Rodrigue, us army retired.

My son only weeks ago was given his mother's 2007 Outlander as an upgrade to his former vehicle. Days ago, he found pieces of the sub frame breaking off underneath after hearing an odd noise during operation. This vehicle was purchased new in 2007 in omaha, ne. Mitsubishi's recall for sub frame corrosion does not include vehicles purchased in nebraska as it isn't in the narrowly defined "salt belt" (although iowa is included). If you have never been to omaha, ne during the winter you would know that the city puts as much salt and salt brine on the roads as anywhere else in the nation--winter weather, I. E. Snow and ice-- in omaha is severe. Vehicles that are operated regularly in the omaha area rust prematurely and that is a fact. This vehicle is now unsafe to drive and the value is probably near zero but Mitsubishi will not cover the cost to repair. The NHTSA should extend the sub frame recall to other states where the use of road salt is extensive I. E. Nebraska, colorado, utah, etc. . . This is a travesty and should be rectified immediately before someone is severely injured or killed driving these vehicles.

Took my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander xls v-6 to dealership for several recalls including recall no. 16v-458 / sr-16-003 on may 05, 2018. I picked up my vehicle and was told it did not require the cross member replacement and the anti corrosion spray was performed. Around 7:00 pm edt Saturday, March 23, 2019 while entering a exit lane on us 119 northbound at the green road exit, my car made a loud grinding sound and starting pulling very hard to the left and came to an abrupt stop after approximately 10-15 feet. Fortunately, I was entering the turn lane and was slowing down or it could have easily force me into the medium divider or even into oncoming traffic. I could not move the vehicle forward and put my emergency flashers on to avoid being rear ended by oncoming traffic. I was very concerned as I had my 3 year old grand daughter with me and it is a very congested area. I tried to exit the vehicle to see if I could determine what was wrong. The driver door had to be forced open as I later discovered after exiting the vehicle that the from left fender had been pushed back into the door area by the front tire. After a quick inspection it appeared the control arm broke. After removing the tire, it was evident that the cross member had separated from the vehicle due to extreme corrosion causing the loss of control and abrupt stop. This is the exact problem I had taken it into the dealership for the recall and was told mine did not need replaced. I am attaching pictures of the vehicle to show the missing and broken cross member. There is no way this corroded to the failure point since the recall repair was allegedly completed. Further more, if treating the area was supposedly sufficient to prevent further corrosion (as opposed to the replacement of the cross member), this failure should not have taken place. Therefore, every cross member should be replaced!.
I crashed my car due to the rotting away of my sub frame and control arms, Mitsubishi is not taking responsibility. The car has been sitting at crown Mitsubishi and they only jwant to fix the recall.
Front crossmember rusted through causing the vehicle to lose control. Through luck/skill managed to get to the side of the road without incident but basically the core support that holds the wheels experienced rust rot. This seems to be a big problem with many Mitsubishi cars from 2003-2013 but for some reason my vehicle was excluded from this recall.

The contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. While driving 5 mph and making a turn, the steering wheel jerked and the vehicle crashed into a pole. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained injuries to the face and ribs. Medical attention was provided at the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (arnie bauer Buick GMC Cadillac, 5525 miller circle drive, matteson, IL 60433), but was not diagnosed. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to an auto body repair shop. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 16,000. When I go to pull out it will not accelerate almost coming to a dead stop and it will not change gears it will almost red line. . You have to let off the gas to get it to change gears and while driving on an interstate my car just stopped also when you hit your breaks or hit a bump in the road it pulls to one side. Also when I first purchased my car the ignition was broken on the inside which caused my key to get stuck. And to this day I am still having problems with my car plus the bevels on my dash board was broken.
The contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. On two occasions, while driving approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel and brakes locked up without warning. The service engine warning indicator illuminated. As a result, the contact crashed into a guardrail and damaged the bumper. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. On another occasion, while driving, the engine locked up and the brakes failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle rolled backwards into a telephone pole. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to skyland auto group (255 smokey park highway, asheville, nc 28806 (828) 667-5213), but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not offer any assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Front cross member corrosion caused driver side lower control arm to detach. Lost control of vehicle at low speed after pulling away from a stop sign. It could have caused a serious accident at higher speed. I have contacted Mitsubishi and although sympathetic, no assistance was offered and I was informed that no applicable recalls or safety notices apply to my VIN, the vehicle is not driveable. Repairs will be costly, perhaps more than it is worth.
Recall issued August 2016 for possible corrosion on cross member. Vehicle taken to dealer, inspected, anti rust agent applied to cross member. On subsequent visits to two independent garages for service we were advised of severe corrosion of under carriage, steering parts, and suspension. The first visit was in October 2016, second visit in February, 2017. It is evident the work done by the dealer was unsatisfactory. The cross member and related parts affected by this corrosion need to be replaced. And steering, supension.
When braking the car shakes and has since I bought it in 2017. The car will pull all over the road.
The contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the front end of the vehicle started vibrating violently and there was a loud noise without any warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred several other times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,640.
Purchased new vehicle with 9 miles on the car. At 283 miles (on a road trip driving on the highway) the "power steering service required" notification came on and I could not turn the steering wheel. Once home, took the car to dealership and "no system failure" came up on the machine at the dealership and I was told to call back if is happens again. Took the car home and at 788 miles the same incident occurred again while driving on the highway and coming out of a shopping center (1459 miles) and I could not turn my wheel. At 1459 miles, the car was towed to nearest dealership and they had to replace the power steering system on a brand new 2016 car. This should not be happening on a brand new car and I was in traffic with my infant son.
The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would turn at 360 degrees in either direction, with an abnormal sound coming from the steering wheel. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an unknown dealer and was informed that they were unaware of such a failure before and offered no assistance. Upon taking another vehicle to an independent mechanic, the contact described her issue with the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander and was informed by the mechanic that from her description of the failure the vehicle might have a defective clock spring in her steering wheel. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

I was driving at approximately 5mph braking to take a left hand turn when I heard a loud clunk and came to an abrupt stop. After existing the vehicle it appears my front suspension had snapped and my drivers side tire was pushed into the quarter panel hindering my drivers side door and my passenger tire was pointing to the right. After getting it towed to the nearest auto body place, I was informed that the front sub frame snapped due to rust. I am the original owner who has performed all maintenance items, it has been garage kept for 7 out of the 9 years of owning the vehicle. I would hate to see how fast this vehicle would have failed if I did not perform any maintenance on it. What is very troubling is the car is only 9 years old and the night before I was traveling on the highway at 70mph with my 4 kids in the vehicle. If this would have snapped on the highway we would have been lucky to survive because I had zero steering capabilities.
When the car hits pumps which are too deep, the steering moves. The vehicle also shifts sometimes when it hits small pumps. I feel I do not have control over the car when such happens. I have driven other cars before like my brother's highlander but it does not do so. It is so weird even though the mechanic from where I financed says it is because it is an electronic steering. It feels so unsafe and I dread to drive when it is icy.
The contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. While driving approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure occurred only after the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign id number: 14v366000 (steering) however, the remedy was failed to prevent the failure. The dealer declined to service the vehicle under the recall remedy a second time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,500.

The yoke that is part of the frame that holds up the front steering assembly rusted through and does not support the steering assembly the way it should. The car is only 7-1/2 years old and this should not have failed. There were only two replacements to be found in the country. One was a used one from the"south" somewhere, and the second a new one from a Mitsubishi warehouse in California. The estimate for repair is about $1400. The dealer I purchased the car from was no help. It seems that since there are very few replacement parts in the u. S. This may be a wide spread problem for these vehicle. The replacement part is used on several model years of this vehicle.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact received notification of nhsta campaign number: 14v562000 (pulley) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Rwk.

The contact owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. While driving at an unknown speed, small stones fell off of another vehicle and struck the sunroof of the contact's vehicle. As a result, debris and glass shattered inside of her vehicle. Two passengers were moderately injured. In addition, while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle rolled over without an impact or crash occurring. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but they could not identify the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 100,000. Updated 6/18/09 the consumer stated the sun roof was not tempered. Updated 06/22/09.
Vehicle vibrated badly and had a tendency to pull to the right. Very bad accident occurred July 12, 2006. One car accident. My wife was driving home from houston, texas. A woman driving behind her said they had been driving normally, no speeding or weaving, when my wife's Outlander suddenly pulled hard to the right, hit a large curb and flew through the air, landing and rolling on to the side.

There is a number of complaints with this vehicle. The first is engine noise (loud "ticking, " clicking" noise) this all the time. It was taken in a number of times and every time something was changed and I was told it was fixed. The noise is still there! the keyless entry module was replaced for erratic lock and light function, however it has not fixed the problem. The vehicle pulls to the right and "scuffs" the tires ( we have rotated the tires at about every 1500 miles to try to prevent this). I have taken it in for service and was told alignment was ok, and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle! there is also a constant "thumping, clunking" noise from front end over bumps(was told unable to fix or duplicate). Lastly, this vehicle has a intermittent severe hesitation or sometimes no power. I was told "unable to duplicate" and every thing was ok with the vehicle. All the work was done by the dealer were I purchased it, and I believe they are tired of seeing me!.
On sept 3 my wife was driving our 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander when it veered to the right so sharply that it almost pulled the steering wheel from her grasp. The could not duplicate the occurrence,we decided we would get it checked out next week. Before we could get the vehicle checked out,due to hurricane katrina,on sept. 9 my youngest daughter was just leaving school, had only gone a few hundred yards when the car suddenly veered to the right, causing her to go off the road and flip the car. A witness said she saw something fly out from underneath the car just before the crash. With the car upside down we all saw the cv joint broken. I looked on the side of the road down from the accident site and found a part that may be the cause of the crash,I am checking this out,but have also found out through internet research that this is a problem with this model vehicle. Does someone have to die before an investigation is done concerning this serious flaw in construction.
While making a right turn the steering wheel wandered off on its own. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer. The mechanic could not duplicate the problem. The driver informed the mechanic the problem had occurred more than once and the problem has not been resolved.
Vehicle pulls to the right from the day I received it, returned for service several times, still pulls to the right. Front tires are worn after 29,000 miles. Last visit tires were rotated and now the vehicle pulls very hard to the left. Now I am bringing it back to rotate the tires back so now it will continue to pull to the right again I'm sure. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle.
Steering/suspension Outlander xls car pulls and drifts to the right, car has been to auto service 3 times and problem still exist.
After repair, the automobile (Mitsubishi Outlander 2003 xls) continues to veer and drift.
Outland continues to pull very hard to the right. It has been serviced three times and problem still occurs. Dealership says there is no problem and the pulling is normal.
