My 2005 350z has been having oil consumption issues. This all started after several thousand miles after I had the original engine replaced for the same issue. While driving, after only 3000 miles after a oil change the engine began to knock very loudly. The noise so bad I had to pull over and stop the car and have it towed to my mechanic. Not a Nissan dealer. Es technical sports looked into it and notified me that there was no oil in the engine. They place two quarts of oil into the engine and I was able to drive over to gardena Nissan in southern CA. From that day I have been dealing with them on this issue. This started in 2010 and I have been doing oil consumption tests since. The variation of the amount of oil used is normal to the point that the engine needs to use the Nissan synthetic oil to the point of I have to use tradition motor oil. All the same the car would not last over 3000 mile without the engine knocking because of the lack of oil. The synthetic oil change I was told that I needed to return the car at 7,500 miles for the next oil change. Well I was back at 3,500 without any oil in the engine. The last set of consumption test reveled that after 1000 miles the oils was down 19 mm. The next consumption test after 1000 miles showed the oil was down 29mm. The engine after another 35,000 miles is consuming so much oil that I can not drive it. This is exactly what happened in the first 36,000 miles before I had to have Nissan replace the engine. Now I have been waiting for 3 weeks without a car for Nissan to inform gardena Nissan on what to do with my car. I can't sit and sit with a engine that will blow up if I drive it. I have been searching on the web and this is a issue with the Nissan vehicles. The infinity g35 has the same oil consumption issue.
I bought my car new. At 13k miles, the crankshaft position went out and there was a rattle in the rearend. The dealer fixed both problems. But now at 26k miles, the engine is knocking hard and it turned out my engine is burning oil. Btw, the rattle in the rearend is back again. I bought my car for a total of $32,000 and I don't deserve to make a few trips to the dealership for repairs already when I've only had my car for 3 years with under 30k miles only!.
I own a anniversary m/t edition 2005' Nissan 350z. I am having a oil consumption issue w/ the vehicle. I ran the car for 3,000 miles and when I brought it in for the next oil change after I bought the car it was down to only, 1/2 of a quart of oil in the engine. There was never any indication of the oil being low in the cockpit. The motor did start making noise so I stopped running it and brought it straight to the shop where they informed me of the 1/2 quart of oil only in the engine. I started a report w/ torrance, CA Nissan. They started a oil consumption test. I lost 3/4 of a quart within the first 1000 miles. I have to go back again after the next 1,000 miles. This is not moral. They have a bad product.
Nissan 350z burns about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles.
I own a 2005 Nissan 350z anniversary edition. It is burning oil at the rate of about 1 quart per thousand miles. Nissan internally is aware of the problem, but won't fix my car. I have been following their protocol and having an oil consumption test conducted, however, the last time I took the car to the dealership, classic Nissan in orlando, florida, to continue the test, they sabotaged the results and lied about the findings. Since the previous oil change, I have driven 2,440 miles. The car was virtually out of oil - I base this on checking the dipstick after the car had been sitting for over 10 hours, and oil hardly registering. Prior to taking the car to the dealership, I added 1 quart of oil so the engine wouldn't seize. The dealership said they drained the oil and took over 5 quarts of oil out of the car. Draining the oil is not part of Nissan's protocol for an oil consumption test. The dealership acknowledged verbally that the engine is bad. Everytime I take the car in, they write on my receipt that the car is operating within accepted standards. I have requested the test be started again. I told the dealership that from now on, they will conduct the test in my presence to I can verify the results and when the dipstick shows virtually no oil, they will drain what is left in my presence. There are many postings on the internet about this problem. Nissan hasn't issued a TSB, but are aware of the problem. The problem exists on the altima and sentra. The altima's were recalled, according to the tech at the dealership.
