Nissan 350Z owners have reported 73 problems related to tire (under the tire category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan 350Z based on all problems reported for the 350Z.
Tire size 265/35zr19 driving down highway at 55 mph when tire blew out. I was able to lucklily get the shoulder and it looked like my tire was cut open with a can opener on the sidewall. The tpms sensor was working fine and they were never plugged and had plenty of tread. I sent pictures of the damage to continental that just replies they’re not warranted. If you google continental blow outs you will see tires and even recalls that look just like mine. I definitely could of been killed or killed someone else if the blowout occurred on a busy highway because I lost control.

I am the owner of a 2006 Nissan 350z coupe. My car came stock with bridgestone potenza re050a tires, which have a treadwear rating of 140. These stock tires lasted 22,000 miles, which is in line with my expectations. I replaced them with the higher treadwear re-11 tires, which have a treadwear rating of 180. These tires have completely worn out after only 5,500 miles. I feel bridgestone has a faulty rubber mixture or else there is fraud in their treadwear methodology. I have not changed my driving habits or ever gone racing in any manner with these new tires. The re-11s need to be investigated for accurate treadwear.
I bought a 2006 350z in 2007 and have replaced brakes and rotors once already and not 6 months later had to get the rotors resurfaced again. In addition to this problem I have replaced all 4 tires twice. The front and rear were way out of alignment as well. Also, the electrical component that moves the driver seat forward and back is sticking, not always allowing the seat to move.
Action Nissan in nashville, TN has replaced damaged front tires at least twice, and I have now replaced damaged front tires at my own expense. The effect of Nissans alignment/suspension problem is not isolated to tire damage. Action Nissan attempted to correct my vehicles alignment/suspension issues, but my car continued to experience issues related to abnormal tire wear and a pull to the right. Nissan did not offer a permanent solution for the alignment/suspension problems of my automobile, and I continued to experience damage to my front tires and misalignment/suspension effects. To protect any new tires on my vehicle, and to permanently correct Nissans manufacturer defect on my vehicle, I had repairs performed with 3rd party parts, an eibach front alignment kit. The original configuration of the front factory 350z does not allow for such adjustments, and the eibach kit allows for common front alignment adjustments that can easily compensate for the alignment/suspension problems. The installed parts, along with new tires, balancing, and alignment/suspension has total cost of $1087. 04. I am including documentation of all itemized costs below:
tires. $288. 00
front align kit $394. 87
parts total. . . $682. 87
2x tire mount. $10. 00
2x tire balance. . . $30. 00
align kit install. . $270. 00
front alignment. . $59. 95
subtotal $369. 95
labor tax@9. 25% $34. 22
labor total. $404. 17
grand total. $1,087. 04
the proposed Nissan class action settlement covers only a fraction of the costs to permanently correct the alignment/suspension problem experienced by countless Nissan 350z owners. My objection is that Nissan should offer a permanent solution to correct the manufacturer defect in the alignment/suspension of 2003/2004 350zs, which causes tire damage and other misalignment/suspension side-effects resulting from the inability to properly align select 350z vehicles. I duly swear to all facts presented in this document.

I was involved in an accident which was very similar to one I had 2 years ago in the same car, only I do not remember as much as I do from the first one. The first accident occurred approximately August of 2006. I was driving on the freeway in very light traffic, when all of a sudden my car started to fish-tail. I was on the fast lane and hit the center divider and spun and hit it again. I managed to get over to the shoulder without hitting anyone or anyone hitting me. My car was crashed on the left side mainly near left tire and the bumper, some damage was on the left rear tire as well. I had the car repaired and the tires were changed. The second accident I do not remember as much because the impact was stronger and it knocked me unconscious and it was raining. The damage on the car was very similar to the first accident only there is alot more body damage. The highway patrol said that I had hit the center divider and spun. The car is not safe at all and there is a no reason that a sports car should be fish-tailing or lose treading in the rain. These cars should be made resistant to such weather and should tires should not be balding so quickly. The 2003 and 2004 Nissans have had recalls for premature feathering/weathering of the tires. The tires tend to start balding too soon, thus causing not enough traction. This clearly would cause the car to fish-tail.

Tire feathering problem which Nissan is aware of but will do nothing to correct only a band-air. They say have the car realigned to there specs which I did at 17,0000 miles and the problem is back after 500 miles. I 'm now told the front tires are worn out. Nissan or dealership will not replace my tires because of the in service date of my car as to when the service bulletin came out. It was 36 months I was told it was up in sept. Nissan has got to tell the real problem with this tire feathering it is more then just and alignment it's mechanical.
The 3rd gear was grinding then second started to grind too therefore I had the transmission rebuilt at my expense and other transmission problems persist and also have the tire feathering/tire growl issue which I've took the car varies times to the alignment shop.
I own a 2004 Nissan 350z and received a recall notice for front tire roar which eventually will damage the tires and misalign the front end. The warranty had been extended to oct 30 2005 and I had taken it back to the dealer on oct 28th. After the car was checked the tires were found defective and the service manager said he would order new tires. After two weeks had passed and I did not here from the dealer, I called to inquire. It seemed as though the parts were never ordered and they would order them and call me when they were in. Finally on Nov 21st I had the car serviced. When I took the car to the dealer they told me at this time that I had to pay for the tires. This was a surprise to me because nothing was said to me at the original date of service. I agreed to have the tires replaced because of the mis-handling of the car and a potential safety problem. After waiting approximately 3 hours for my car a fee of $449. 00 was paid. Do to the fact that this was a recall by the manufacturer and the notice stated that the tires will be replaced at no charge, I feel that I am do a refund by Nissan. I have all pertinent documentation for your review.
I bought the car used in 5/05 with 15,000 miles. Tires appeared new when purchased. Car is only driven in the winter, I had the "roaring" noise and vehicle shaking effect roughly 5 months later. I brought the car to the dealer and told them about the issue. Their solution was to replace the front brakes and rotors for almost $400. I did not notice the problem again until a relative drove the car in the spring of 06 and thought I was crazy because I was apparently ignoring the roar and shake of the vehicle when traveling at speed under 40 mph. I replaced the rear tires at the suggestion of my local garage for over $500 yet the problem persisted. I now have to replace the front tires for another $500 or so and the car only has 32000 miles. I have read the numerous (hundreds) complaints written about this problem and this is just ridiculous. . Read more...
Consumer owned a Nissan 350z track version 2003. He took vehicle to dealer for recall repair about a year ago. Consumer stated it was a recall, however, could not find recall on NHTSA web site. Ntb03-046 was the number identifying the recall that consumer had. Repair work was done on 6-11-04. Then, on July 19, 2005 consumer took vehicle to gardena Nissan in California, and they told him that the problem involved front tires wearing out on the inside during repair work they replaced the right front compression rod. Consumer contacted Nissan, and they told him that after recall and warranty repair work was only good for 10,000 miles. Consumer believed that recall repairs did not fix problem, per gardena Nissan. Six months after consumer bought vehicle when shifting up or down at any speed periodically it will not go into gear. Nissan was aware of the situation, and they did not want to do anything about it.
Nissan 350z has a problem that leads to premature wear on tires. I have a 2004 350z and it is exhibiting same failure as 2003. Tires are making a noise that has to lead to ultimately a compromise of the tire intergrity. Nissan answer so far , spend $700 every 6 months, by changing tires and realign all wheels. . . . At my expense!!! this is a consumer product failure , potentialy a safety problem, and Nissan is not appropriately addressing the issue. They had the same problem in 2003 350z and all I can say , same problem in the 2004 model year car. Need help . . Nissan is not providing a solution>.
2004 350z has 11600 miles and tire roar has become very loud. Roar began near 10,000 miles and has gotten progressively worse. I have had the tires balanced at 10,000 miles in hopes of easing the situation - no relief. Notified by discount tire mechanic that the inside edges of the front tires were showing considerable wear. Called local Nissan dealership and talked with maintenance & service dept. Was told that I would need to pay $90 + tax for an alignment and $28 + tax to flip the front tires. Also notified that I would probably need to repeat this every 10,000 miles and buy new tires every 20,000 miles. This seems to be a major flaw with the 2004 350z and has not been corrected from the 2003 model.
After 14,000 mi, car started to growl from the front. Took it to the dealer, they said that it could be alignment and advised us to drive some more miles. At 24,000 the noise got louder, we took it back to the dealer, they said that front tires were worn out and we had to pay pro-rate on the tires. At 35,000, we received a letter from Nissan saying about tires problem: early wear and tear. We came back to the dealer they said they would order the front tires and did not know how long they would be shipped and we still had to pay for pro-rate on the tires. Should we pay pro-rate for the tires as the dealer said? we would not buy this car if we knew wheel alignment would be the problem. Should Nissan cover all expenses for us? we don't like the dealer anyway. They have very bad service and unprofessional. Paul miller Nissan 930 kings hwy e fairfield, CT 06825 tel. I was driving on the express way a motorcycle ahead of me applied his brakes I followed suit. The 350z roadster began to swerve and spin uncontrollably and stopped after I hit the sid rail resulting in motorcyclist and myself going to hospital the issues with the tires on the 350z are well known by consumers, Nissan, and their dealerships. I have taken the car on at least three occasions to the dealership for examination and possible repairs but the tire defect and handling remain. This is unfortunate since they have tried to unsuccesfully fix the issue on other model years of this vehicle.
Oem tires (bridgestone potenza re040) on my Nissan 350z started feathering on the inside of both front tires around 6000 miles. Noticed the sound had gotten more noticable around 11000 miles. Took vehicle into Nissan at 12548 miles and was told that Nissan had a problem with the front end on the 2003 model, but that it had been corrected. Heard from another source that there were several 2004 350z cars that had the same problem.
Fast tire wear on a 350 z. Noise coming from front of vehicle.
At the 15k service the service associate noted some front tire wear, and said that at the next service 18k, that I would need a front end alignement. At the 18k service the service associated sait that the tires were no longer servicable and that I would need $600 of tires and an alignment. After researching the problem, I found that Nissan has admitted to a similar problem on the 2003 models, and that they are replacing tires and extending the warrenty to three years. Nissan has not officially done this for the 2004 models. I told this to the service manager and they tried to make it right and offered to pay for the alignment and one tire. I settled for this, but I hope Nissan resognizes this defect and makes it right by issuing a recall or extended warrenty on the 2004 models as well as the current extensions on the 2003's.
I purchased a 2004 Nissan 350z in August of 2003. After about 24000 miles I complained of excessive road noise comming for the tires. I was informed by the dealer that the front tire were cupping and had to be replaced. This seems to be a known problem with this car and Nissan acknowledged it on their 2003 model but continues to ignore it on their 2004 model claining that it has been addressed although they are not clear on how they addressed it. I fear that this problem if not addressed by Nissan will result in an unfortunate accident for someone unaware of the problem. It is suprising to me that auto manufacturers are not obligated to disclose these kind of known issues with their products. It seems that the dealers are notified but not the consumers who have bought their products.
Front tires are freathering and has a rowling noise.

I own a 2003 350z. I got a flat tire on my car yesterday. I took it in to be repaired. When they jacked it up they noticed that all four of my tires are bald on the inside. They told me that my car has been recalled. They said they have had many 350z's come in with the same problem I am having. They also stated that they are able to fix the problem. So that's when I looked it up on your website but didn't see it anywhere. I have talked to many other tires places as well and they said they have had many people come in with the same problem. Have you heard this complaint from anyone else?.
I have a 2004 350z and I have notice load noise from my drivers side tire. I took to the Nissan dealer and they check the alignment and the results was the toe where way off align. The corect it but the noise came back. I told them that I heard that the 2003 had problems with feathering and they said that it was corrected with the 2004 model. So, what is the true answer. I think they still have problem. I love my z, but they need to be trueful with the z customer and admit there is still a problem and fix it. I think they need to offer a tire replacement for the damaged its causing tires. I'm sure I will have to replace my tires.
Bridgestone potenza tires p225/50wr17(front) and p235/50wr17 (rear)on 2005 Nissan z350 touring edition: do we have to have people killed before this is looked into! car has just 1,600 miles, yes not even 2,000, one month old. These tires will not drive safely on this car. Snowed here in washington DC area on 19jan05. . . Wife could not move the car from a red light without rear end fish-tailing at 3 mph. Could not move. . . Help had to hand push her to side of a road. I made it to her after 3 hours. Police wanted to give me a ticket for not having all weather tires, m/s on the car, for holding up traffic because the car would not move. I had no idea the tires were not m/s. I got in car and it would not move, even when removing the traction button. Skidding/fish tailing will get you killed; these tires will not make it in snowy parts of the us. Why have they not tested these tires on snow cover roads. My wife is scared to death to drive the car now. I'm stuck with a car that is not even safe. I will let many know not to buy this car with this tire. Nowever, there is a z350, 2003 model on the lot of the dealer with michelin m/s all weather on it. Not on these bridgestone potenzas!!! why did Nissan change from michelin to the bridgestone. The dealer will tell me to go to a tire company, the tire company already is telling me to go back to the dealer. Please NHTSA, stop this from getting people potentially injured or killed. Lj.

Tires are feathering badly. Dealership service center tried fixing it. Nissan tried avoiding recall on it, but told service centers to change tires at no cost. Ridiculous and unsafe. Was told to be an alignment problem. Everyone except the company seems to notice. 2003 350z. Nissan made its warranty on the tires to 24,000 and our service is till about 36000 miles. They are just waiting it out until it becomes the peoples problem. Is anybody listening?.
Jan 03 the brakes would squeal loudly when braking in cold weather. The two front tires continually lost air and needed to be refilled every 3-4 weeks. Upon dealer inspection, nothing was found wrong. Upon recall notice of the growling of the tires (around April 04) the vehicle was brought into the dealership and the two front tires were replaced. The vehicle had to be brought back twice due to the alignment being done incorrectly (steering wheel was crooked and slip & vdc off lights were illuminated). Since the tire replacement, the two new front tires still lose air and need to be filled up every 2-3 weeks now. The tires occasionally squeal loudly when braking. Dec 04 the dashboard was lit up with the following warning lights:1. Brakes 2. Vdc off 3. Slip upon towing the vehicle into Nissan (because the front passenger tire went mysteriously flat again), Nissan dealer has advised that the front brake pads are worn through to less than 10% and need to be replaced. They also reported the front tires had no holes and the tire beading was fine. They suggested the tires go low and the warning indicator sounds because it is a sensitive car. It is my personal theory that the vehicle has a design flaw within the suspension and the vehicle is also placing too much weight and pressure on the front tires which has caused: 1. Growling 2. Front tires to lose air 3. Brakes to wear unreasonably fast 4. Squealing when braking. The dealer has not been satisfactory in their responses or suggestions. The vehicle is in the dealer now; I requested they give me the worn brake pads when I pick up the car.
My 2003 350z's tires were replaced by the dealer at 16,000 miles. I recognized the problem right before the recall. Now at 27,000 miles I have the same problem with the back tires/alignment. I've been told by the contracted tire dealer which my Nissan dealer sends it's work to that the problem is with the alignment on the 2003 model and the problem has since been corrected on the 2004 model. I'm told that to avoid the improper wear on the tires (cupping) that I should have the alignment checked every 3-6 months. I was told that other than the tire noise(which when noticeable means serious improper wear), another way to tell that this cupping is happening is to put the car up on the rack. Also, the car starts to have traction/handling problems. The problem cannot be seen in a visual check when the car is on the ground. I called the Nissan headquarters and filed a complaint, but was told there was nothing they could do. At 27,000 miles I got the rear aligned and had to purchase two new rear tires. There is so obviously a problem that Nissan is choosing to ignore.
2004 Nissan 350z, front tires roar while driving down road. Took vehicle in for service and the service manager says we need new tires and it will cost $650. I stated, this is a new car and we didn't do anything to wear the front tires out. He says to call Nissan. Now I am finding out that this is an on-going problem with these cars and Nissan has not addressed it (yet). We cannot afford to by new tires every year.
I own a 2004 Nissan 350z. It currently has 5800 miles on it and I am having problems with the tires. They are feathing and are very loud.
I bought 2004 350z roadster in oct 2003. At 12,000 miles a rubbing noise from front tires became extremely loud. Took car into metro Nissan, montclair CA and was told noise could not be duplicated but that my brakes were glazed and roters warped. They replaced brakes and shaved roters. Car still made same rubbing noise took it back to dealer 3 more times and until the 5th time and 18,000 miles on my car was told that it needed new tires because I had failed to have them rotated!! tires can't be rotated because they are directionals and different sizes!! I was told by dealer it was due to normal wear and tear! my tires are completely bald from the inside they are cupping and car has become less stable when handling curves at highway speeds. The outside of tire thread is perfectly new and shows no wear. I filed a complaint with Nissan north America and was told the same bs as everyone else who has filed a complaint. . . The wear of the tires on the inside is not normal. Nissan refuses to address the problem . What is the point of replacing tires every 8 to 12,000 miles if the same problem is going to repeat itself. I'm afraid to drive my car long distances or in fwy in fear of a blow out.
Fax fm (ok) re Nissan not informing the owners of the 350 z that the vehicles are equipped with summer tires.
I bought a 2004 350z convertible in September, 2004 from marion dinwiddie at hudiburg oklahoma city. I have another car with front wheel drive which I drove when the roads were bad recently I got a letter stating there was a recall on the alignment. I starting checking on the tires and found out that the tires, bridgestone potenza re040. Are summer tires and are not to be driven on snow and ice. I got this information from tirerack. Com, which gives ratings on all the tires available in the united states. There were numerous complaints about these tires in customer reviews. When I bought the Nissan I was not told that these were summer only tires. I consider this criminal! by not telling people this information I am sure that there have been a lot of wrecks and possibly fatalities due to someone driving in winter conditions. If I had known the Nissan had summer tires on it I would have insisted they replace them with all season performance tires. By not telling the consumer about this is putting lives at risk and if I had not owned another car, I probably would have been in a wreck or been killed myself and others! this is an outright criminal act and Nissan should be held responsible. I called eric at the main Nissan office and filed a complaint and he told me that the dealer was responsible for putting on the tires. The dealer denies this. I am not going to play games and I hope you can help me and everyone else who is driving these cars . From all the reviews I read, these tires fall apart at about 10-15,000 miles. When I buy a $40,000 dollar car, I expect high performance all season tires and they had better last more than 15,000 miles! I feel ripped off and more importantly Nissan has put my life and the lives of others in great danger. I think they deserve more that a slap on the hand, don't you agree? winter is just around the corner and for some it has already started! please do something quickly, lives are at stake here! sincerely, me.
Car has progressively gotten worse, first starting having tire noise at 10,000 miles finally was able to take to dealer around 14,000 mile and dealer stated that it was just needing an alignment and tire rotation, dealer performed repair and the noise was a little better, after 1000 more miles noise got louder than before and dealer says there is nothing else they can do. There are reports of this problem everywhere yet Nissan chooses to ignore it, what am I able to do to get this fixed, it is not right that I buy a 30,000 dollar car and have to live with a problem like this. The vibrations from the tires are causing the dash and door to rattle now.
Severe tire feathering. Two sets of front tires in under 12,000 miles. Service by dealer did not solve problem.
Tire noise that started within 6 months of purchase and at less than 12000 on my new 2004 350z. Dealer kept blaming Nissan. Nissan kept telling me they could not replace them because it was out of their warranty period which was 12 months and 12000 miles.
