Air Bag Problems of Nissan 370Z

The contact called on behalf of her husband who owns a 2010 Nissan 370z. The contact stated that while her husband was driving on a main road at 20 mph, the passenger’s side air bag deployed. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no injuries reported. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was advised to contact the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced customer service bulletin: p0a10; as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.

On 9/4/2023, both airbags in my daughter’s 2015 Nissan 370-z violently exploded open erroneously at a stop-sign, when my daughter had, unknowingly, slowly rolled into the protruding hitch of the truck in front of her; the imperceptible impact of which my (driver) daughter and (passenger) son didn’t feel, nor even known had happened (until after they escaped the traumatizing horror). None of the nearby witnesses could noticed the car bump either. From each of the witnesses’ perspectives, they heard a loud explosion come from the 2nd car stopped at a stop sign. Everyone in the vicinity…and patrons & workers who’d run out of the corner store… watched in horror, as “smoke” filled the vehicle immediately. As people began rushing toward the car, my 13 y. O. Son dove out of the passenger door & rolled several feet…hands clasped to his ears, violently screaming . A gentleman ran toward my daughter’s door, fully prepared to pull her from (what was believed to be) the burning car. Although she was hysterically crying & burned from the chin to the stomach, she was otherwise able to be helped out of the car & walk with assistance to her brother…who had lost all hearing in both ears (for over 15 minutes). It was then that the driver of the truck informed my daughter & helpers of her bump into his hitch. Aside from a small dent in my daughter’s front bumper, there were no other signs of damage from the impact. There was, however, a shattered windshield from the passenger airbag. My daughter & son reported that, as the airbags exploded unexpectedly, they were pelted with thousands of stinging particles as the car filled with smoke & smelled like it was on fire. My son dove out of the car as my daughter screamed, “the car is on fire!” due to bad actor, dakota mcgregor from Nissan, her lies about any known issues or recalls w/the vehicle’s airbags, & her refusal to file a report bc my “kids didn’t die”, we took the $15k hit to repair & dakota interfered w/the repair CO.

My vehicle has only 12,400 miles, and the passenger air bag light will not go off and the airbag light in the dash keeps blinking. Millions of Nissan vehicles have had the same problem. I want my Nissan dealership, where I purchased this vehicle ( m’lady in crystal lake, IL ), to fix this at no cost to me.

I am the original owner of the Nissan 370z 2017 year, bought it new directly from Nissan dealer. I just had a major accident on the freeway with a big transportation truck (not a consumer pick up truck). I was in collision with it at least 2 times, on the driver side initially and then the front after spinning few rounds in middle of busy freeway. Thankfully, I am alive but looking through the picture of my damaged car after getting out from er, it just didn't make sense to me why airbag didn't deploy. I wanted to see if other owners of the car had any similar issue. To be little more specific of the occurrence, I was driving about 60 miles on the freeway until the truck tried to merge into my lane, hitting my driver side and my car spun and ended up in front of trucks front and it hit me again on the side, and spun again and ended on in middle of a freeway, in 8:00am morning time.

Takata recall.

Srs light remains on all the time. Local dealer says it is a common problem and will fix it for 2500. 00 dollars. Will air bags work? I don't know.
