1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

Owner of a 2003 Nissan Altima - on 2/18/17 while taking my vehicle to a car wash in linden, NJ, I had my vehicle on neutral and when the car wash was completed, I put the vehicle on drive and proceeded slowly towards the car wash employees as they instructed me to stay on my left side, as the other vehicle was on the right side and I had my foot on the brakes. As the two employees placed their towels on my front vehicle to dry out the vehicle, my vehicle immediately started to jolt twice while I had my foot on the brakes and immediately my vehicle accelerated at a high speed. Smoke started to come out of the front hood and the airbag came out. I had to control the steering wheel not to hurt any one as there were several parked vehicles and people vacuuming their vehicles or cleaning out their vehicles. Not sure how many parked vehicles were hit and my vehicle hit a parked SUV. Ambulance arrived and the police. I was in shocked, surprised and cried and told the police about my vehicle taking off so quickly without any warning while my foot was still on the brakes. All I kept saying is OH my god what happened. How could this happen? were there any recalls? I kept saying I had my foot on the brakes and the vehicle would not stop just kept accelerated. There were no warning indicator lights. I had injuries including my right ankle, knee, head, neck, shoulders and back. Police report was taken and not available at the moment as it takes a couple of days.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2015

Takata recall.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2013

In morning, started car, drove down road short distance, went to stop at stop sign at highway and brakes were hard, wouldn't decompress at all, slid onto highway. Took to dealer, can't find anything wrong. It was in WI, was cold outside, parked outside at night. This also happened last year in winter, had it happen twice, once backing up after work and another at stop sign immediately after starting car where brake pedal was frozen and car wouldn't stop. Narrowly avoided accidents in these cases. Seems to work better after car warms up for a bit. Last year, Nissan dealer replaced the brake booster and closure valve which cost me over 617. 00 and it didn't happen again until this year. I am afraid to drive the car now since this has happened so many times to me. I could've been in very serious accidents or died because of this problem.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

Backed up car in parking garage and brakes didn't decompress at all, pedal was hard, kept backing up narrowly missing another car- kept trying to decompress pedal and eventually it stopped the car but it was hard to. Let car sit for several minutes pressing brake pedal on and off and testing it. It seemed to be better after and I drove home very slowly relying on letting off the gas to slow and staying far behind everyone. Very scary- it could've happened on the highway. It also happened the week before but I thought it was ice under the car when I stopped at a stop light, it went past the stop about 2 feet. I thought it felt hard but it happened so quickly I thought it was the ice/snow.
