1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2022

Car engine cuts off. After that I have no power steering, no acceleration, brakes need to be pumped. The first years of me owning the car I had the sensors replaced by auto shop and dealership under extended car warranty. Pretty much been replacing the sensors ever since for the past 8 years. I believe I replaced over 10 sensors of the time I owned my Nissan. I can be on the hallway, streets anywhere with out any warnings my car engine will stop. It has to do with turning back on the car while it's warm. That's when I seen the problem the most.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2022

The cars battery and brake lights came on while driving and then after about 10 mins my gas pedal stopped working and I almost got in a really bad car accident. If I rev the car over 3000 rpms the lights go out. So while I was cruising I had to shift to natural and rev the car and shift back to drive when I needed to go faster. I brought the car to the mechanic got a new alternator and battery. When driving it home after picking it up the same thing happened after about ten mins. When the mechanic got it back he said the alternator was dead it was only putting out 3. 5 volts. He figured maybe he got a defective alternator so he replaced it again with another battery. Same thing happened for the 3rd time. He said he couldn't figure it out and recommend me to bring it to the dealership. So I did and just for them to look at your car is 150 walking in the door. I explained everything to them and told them don't tell me it's my alternator and charge me 150 for information I already know. The guy said he wouldn't and a few days later calls me and tells me it's the alternator and it would cost 1000 $ to replace it. I told him again I already changed it out 3 different times with a new battery. He told me in order for them to find the issue they would have to do the alternator first and then move on from there. So I asked him ok what's gonna be the next step after I pay a 1000s dollars for something that's not going to fix the issue. He said he couldn't tell me till they did the first step. So pretty much what I got out of it was they just want to run my pockets and get as much money as the possibly could. I asked him if he could just do what ever you would do after changing the alternator and he told me nope. Also I believe this should be a recall because when I look up forms online a ton of people have this same issue and can't get answers to fix it.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2018

I own a 2005 Nissan. I rely on my car daily to get to medical appointments. The car stalls in park all lights start blinking then dies. Has happened while driving as well the car will move but you cant accelerate on the pedal this happened in a traffic circle my fiance and two friends were with me at the time. This is very dangerous I could get into a bad accident and die or even kill my passengers. I have had a mechanic reset my ecm but this keeps happening I have tried to fix the problem on my own and have had no luck. I own a 2005 Nissan Altima 3. 5se v6 four door sedan and I feel unsafe driving. Something needs to be done I was hoping my experience would be awesome ive always liked the cars now honestly im scared to drive in it and wont reccomend anyone getting one. I havent had any accident or anything. Me having this car is required medically. Also check engine light came on one day stayed on for a month then just shut off so now I have no clue whats going on with my car.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

The car pick up to slow and then start picking up little by little.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2016

Check engine light due to error code p0335 which is camshaft position sensor,my car hesitate to start, need more cranking, as per Nissan so many vehicles were recalled for this code but if I give my VIN # they said there is no recall, I am the original owner of this vehicle, all the maintenances are up to date and currently I have only 72000 miles, I am requesting to recall 2005 Nissan Altima as soon as possible.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2015

Crankshaft position sensor same thing is happening to the 2005 summary: on certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 2. 5l engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. Consequence: if the interruption in the signal from the crankshaft position sensor is so brief that the electronic control module (ecm) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while the vehicle is driven at a low speed increasing the risk of a crash.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2015

Car shuddered and rpm dropped and then came back up to current rpm level. Came to stop light and vehicle was then put into limp mode. Would not accelerate and rpm's would not go over 2000. Pulled over and turned car off. Restarted car and began to try and drive it again. Service engine light came on and vehicle would not shift gears. Tried to manually shift the automatic trans and it would hit hard upon gear shifts but was able to make it home the remaining few miles. . Brought vehicle in to a mechanics shop the next morning and the codes indicate cam position sensor failures. I see numerous complaints and a recall for this under r2022 but of course my vehicle is not listed. This appears to be a common problem and all vehicles should be included in this recall as it is completely dangerous issue that comes out of nowhere while driving the vehicle. I am waiting for the vehicle to be repaired to see if the problem is completely resolved at my expense. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

On August 18, 2014, after dropping my son off at school. I came to stop at a traffic light and when the light changed, I started to take off and noticed the car has shut down. I eventually made it home with the car going a very low speed and then speed up, but when car to a start the engine stalls. The vehicle was put on a computer to see what the diagnosis were and it was the camshaft sensors and crankshaft sensor costing $80 dollars for two and $70 for another, however these items has been changed along with a tune up and the car is doing the same. After doing some research on the computer, I noticed there were recalls on the crankshaft sensors and the ecm. I contacted Nissan dealer, an appointment was made and I was told that my VIN number is not showing so the problem had to been done, because I'm the second owner. It's funny how this problem comes about after 4 1/2 years of having this vehicle and the recall suppose to have been taking care of with the first owner. This is an inconvenience and it's frustrating. There is also rusting of the floor under the car, you can see the floor coming down from under the car on the passenger side. This is an outrage and something needs to be done at the cost of the dealers and not the owners. This is dangerous, you can be driving at a speed and the car just stop, which can cause a very bad accident.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2014

After going to my destination for 35 min stopping a gas pump after getting back in the car in wouldn't crank only after 2 hours. My wife was driving the car at 25 mph and the car lost all speed as if the brakes were implied and almost caused a three car pile up. Now the car is stuck in 5th gear. I am really worried because my 2 year old daughter was in the car at the time. I have done research online and this is a major problem.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2013

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2012

Make: Nissan model: Altima model year(s): 2005 NHTSA campaign id number : 07v527000 component: engine and engine cooling my car started having problems and it would not pass inspection because of the engine light alert. The reason was due to the crankshafts which I replaced but kept having the problem. The mechanic suggest to look up any outstanding recalls and I found the above campaign which describes my problem exactly. All I need to do is take it to the dealer to reprogram the ecm. The dealers states that my car is not part of the recall and want to charge to get it reprogram. Why should I pay for a manufacture defect when there is an outstanding recall on this problem. The cars has no other problems and the only reason why it won't pass inspection is because of the problem described above. I don't see why this should be and I need a recall notice to take to the dealer to get the car ecm programmed. Or do I have to be involved in accident before the problem can be corrected. Thank you.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

About 2 yrs ago the engine light came on in my Nissan. I took it for a diagnostic and it came up with two codes that at this point I dont remember. However, what I was told is that I needed my crankshaft sensor replaced. I checked online for information about this sensor and I came across a recall for this sensor. Around the same time my headlights started burning out bulbs also. I also noticed there was a recall on a headlight issue. I contacted a local dealership to check my VIN to see if I qualified for the recall and I was told my VIN was supposedly one of the impacted ones. Which is too coincidental. My car stalls while running and at times will not start. And I say will, because, I brought it in to 2 different shops for replacement and neither could find a compatible sensor. They even ordered one from Nissan and it did not fit and were unable to fix it. They appologized and said that I would be able to drive it but would eventually need to somehow replace it. I have since continued driving it, as it is the only vehicle I have. It has gotten worse and turns off my often. I am asking for some type of help. I am out of options. I am afraid it will one day shut off as I driving and cause a catastrophe.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2011

While transporting with my 1 and 2 year old in my vehicle driving about 30mph my vehicle suddenly shuts off.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2011

The following is a detailed account of the automobile accident that occurred on February 24, 2011. At approximately 11:30am, while driving my father’s 2005 Nissan Altima 2. 5s, which I regularly drive, I pulled into the parking lot of a local shopping center. I pulled into a parking space in which my vehicle was separated by a curbed sidewalk in front of the building. I placed the gear shift into park while the engine was still running. I glanced to the right of me at the passenger’s seat to make sure I had my belongings. My hands were neither on the steering wheel or the gear shift when unexpectedly the vehicle instantly launch forward. It jumped the curb and hit into the shopping carts which were between my vehicle and the building’s wall. The car began to lurch back and forth violently, ramming into the shopping carts, causing my body to also be tossed back and forth in the same manner. I placed the gear shift into reverse to try and remove the vehicle from the sidewalk. Immediately after I was able to remove the vehicle from the sidewalk I put the gear shift back into park. However the vehicle continued to move backwards with as much force and velocity as it exerted when it first launched forward. I found myself speeding backwards so rapidly that I had no means of stopping the car. The car finally came to a stop after it struck two vehicles that were parked across the parking lot.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

My 17-year-old daughter has a 2005 Nissan Altima. A week ago the car began shutting itself off while she is driving it. The codes said we needed to replace the crankshaft sensor and we did so. This did not stop the problem. On the way home from the auto parts store today her car stopped and she was almost rear-ended by a truck. After researching this problem on the internet it appears that Nissan Altimas have a history of this sort of problem. Someone is going to get killed if this problem is not fixed.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. While driving approximately 10 mph the vehicle experienced difficulty accelerating and a check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. 2005 Altima - when moving forward after stopping, vehicle will jerk forward. I must immediately take my foot off the gas pedal. The occurs only in low gear, after a stop, and occurs 3 to 4 times a week.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2010

The clutch pedal in my 2005 Nissan Altima is engaging but lately while driving, the clutch suddenly presses all the way to the floor while I attempt to shift gear. The pedal won't come back on its own, and shifting becomes difficult if not impossible. I almost caused an accident maneuvering my foot to unstick the pedal from the floor, while in traffic the other day. Then, it suddenly went back to its typical function and operated smoothly. I've experienced two of these occurrences within the past 3 days ; the car has been fine up to this point and has been well maintained ( 83,000 miles; one owner ).

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). She called the dealer and was informed that the recall repair would only involve reprogramming the computer, rather than repairing the crankshaft, which really needed to be replaced. The contact's concern was that the recall repair only stalled the failure instead of providing a remedy. On July 10, 2008, the vehicle completely shut down at a stop sign. The vehicle lost total power and no warning lights were illuminated. After waiting two minutes, the vehicle was able to be restarted. When the contact turned off the vehicle to pump gas, it would not restart. The vehicle would also surge occasionally. The current and failure mileages were approximately 64,000.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2007

My wife was going to wendy's. She turned into wendy's parking lot, she went around wendy's to the other side and went to the last parking spot when the car accelerated on its own. Car jumped curb and hit a tree. Witness said they saw a puff of smoke , there were no tire marks anywhere. Almost $ 5000. 00 damage. Car was taken Nissan dealer, but they could not find any thing wrong. I have filed a complaint with Nissan.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2005

The caller's vehicle was accelerating from a stop light going 10 mph when it stalled. She could not get it started ,and had to have it towed to dealer. The battery light and the brake light came on. When she called the manufacturer, she was told she could drive the vehicle. There was no other indication that this was going to happen. Dealer has vehicle now and will call her when they have check it. Manufacturer was contacted and will call her back.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2005

The owner had problems with the car since the day of purchase. In the middle of driving the check engine light comes on, the car stalls. There is no acceleration and the gas pedal does not work. The check engine light does not come on before the stalling begins. This happened three times. The first time this happened the owner thought it ran out of gas. There has never been an accident as a result. The vehicle has been into the repair shop three times, and the repair have been unsuccessful. The dealership replaced the accelerator position sensor, throttle chamber, and air volume learning procedure. The second time the accelerator position sensor was replaced again. The third time the accelerator position sensor and engine control module were replaced. Again, this did not appear to have repaired the problem, the owner is not confident with this vehicle. The dealership would not guarantee this would never happen again.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2005

Had the vehicle 3 months and transmission replaced. Noticed when driving the vehicle it accelerated, then when letting off the accelerator was pulling back like a rubber band effect. Currently, that the transmission been replaced when making a right turn it makes a clanking noise . Also, can feel every bump in the road.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2005

Car just stops sometimes and it will not start. Consumer almost has to flood the engine before it starts. Dealer told consumer she needed to pump the gas 3 times before she started the car. She had vehicle in the repair shop because the car was idling very fast. They put a throttle chamber in it, then it started to do the same thing again . Dealer said it was unsafe because it was racing too high; they ordered a new part for the car. It is still doing the same thing. Updated 02/07/06.
