The passenger side floorboard has completely rusted and the carpet is the only thing separating the passenger's feet from the ground. The hole is 16 inches in length. I saw some sort of plastic hanging from the area and when I looked under the car, the floorboard is completely rusted. When I examined the area with my hand, I felt the carpet and am able to push it up into the floor of the car. This is a safety hazard and defect in the car. This has obviously been rusting for some time now and I did not know my daughter was sitting over a gaping whole in the floor and in danger from her feet falling through the floor or something potentially piercing through and injuring her.
A hole has rusted through the front passenger side floorboard. Just noticed it today 4/18/16.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there was premature deterioration and corrosion on the floorboards. The driver side floor boards had holes and exposed areas due to the failure. The dealer scheduled an appointment for an inspection and diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no solution. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
Discovered rotted floor boards. Nissan has recalls for this issue and researched hundreds of complaints of this issue.
Noticed when vehicle was stationary, a large rust hole underneath passenger side floormat. Plastic liner torn and carpet visible from underneath car. Affected area is between 14-20". Passenger foot could potentially fall through floor of the car while in motion.
I took my car to a mechanic because I was smelling significant amounts of exhaust in the car cabin while driving and parked. The mechanic identified a rust hole in my exhaust just past the front catalytic converter, but more troubling was two huge holes in the floor boards on the driver and passenger side. Each rust hole is approximately 12 inches long x 4 inches wide and the padding an carpet can clearly be seen from underneath. Even after exhaust is fixed I am still at great risk of road debris and moisture entering the cabin from beneath the car. This car is just 10 years old and the rest of the body is in excellent condition with little to no rust. I live in a salt belt state but other cars of the same age don't seem to have this same problem. I've learned through media and web that this is a common problem with 2002 - 2006 Nissan Altimas. I consider these holes to be a safety concern and manufacturer defect. I have filed a complaint with Nissan.
I have experienced many rust issues with my 2006 Nissan Altima. By far the worst is the risk of my feet going through the floormat due to rust of the floorboards. It is experienced on the driver's side, as well as a slight rust of the passengers side. I fear that I am in harm and can not afford the repair to make sure I am safe in my car. I have been using my car lightly for the last 4 years.
Both driver and passenger front floor boards are rusted through. Car only has 105,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there was premature corrosion on the floorboards across the front driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. Due to the corrosion, holes could be seen through the floorboards. The failure occurred without warning. The dealer and mechanic confirmed that the vehicle needed to be repaired using a patch kit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there had been extensive premature rusting on the floor boards of the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that there was corrosion holes through the front driver and passenger side floor boards. The contact mentioned that the holes had to be covered while the vehicle was operated. The vehicle was taken to two different dealers for inspection and diagnosis. The diagnosis and if the vehicle was repaired were unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance at an independent mechanic, the mechanic discovered that the sub frame of the vehicle under the front driver's side seat and the front passenger's side seat had extensive rust and corrosion. The contact was informed that the front floor pan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000. I was told while having service at Nissan that both the passenger and drivers side floor boards were rotting away, and need to be replaced. I was also informed that my oil pan was rusting out. This should of been a recall!!!!!!.
During oil change noticed that both drivers and passenger side floor pans were rusted through completely. Only thing left was the interior carpet between the road and a driver or passenger.
Vehicle exhibits serious rusting of floorboard on the passenger side front. The vehicle is in great condition otherwise (no visible rust on body panels) and the rest of the underbody is in great condition (minimal corrosion, as expected for vehicle of its age). Passenger side floorboard is noticeably soft ,and rusted completely through the floor pan in one spot (you can put a finger through it if carpet is removed). This is unexpected as the floor pan is coated with a rubberized underbody protectant in this area. The floor pan must be replaced in this area, but Nissan only sells the entire floor pan for the vehicle, which is quite costly. I am disappointed because I have no evidence which indicates this issue is caused by any damage or neglect, it seems as if this is due to a coating failure or manufacturing defect.
Rusting of floorboard panel on passenger side of vehicle. This was discovered as part of prepurchase inspection. Due to issue buyer was no longer interested due to cost of repair.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that after the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, the technician discovered that the floor boards of the front driver and passenger side was corodded and rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000. The VIN was unavailable. Ss.
Drivers side floor pan rust through. It appears to be a common problem in the 2002 to 2006 Altima and maxima models. A recall should be performed. This problem is a danger, and very costly to repair.
The floor boards are completely rusted away on the driver and passenger side under neath the vehicle. You can actually put your hand through and push up into the carpet on inside of car. This is obviously a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the floorboard underneath the driver and passenger seats were rusted and fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,000. The VIN was not provided.
Driver and passenger side floor boards are both rusted out. I'm worried I will eventually put my foot through the floor.
The floors boards on the driver and passenger sides have rusted through causing a problem with fumes in the car.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the driver's side floor board had extensive corrosion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the floor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Floorboards on both the driver's and passenger sides are rusting out. Initial holes were noticed years ago. Holes have become much larger. I can literally touch carpet from underneath the car.
Door handles broke off in my hand preventing entry into the car without great difficulty.
Had normally scheduled maintenance performed on 2006 Altima to include tire rotation. Discovered that the floor boards on front on both sides are completely rusted through, I can see the carpet. Will not pass inspection, have contacted a garage for repair costs. My car is carport kept, I wash weekly and is kept spotless. After reading the many, many complaints Nissan needs to take action. I have driven Nissans for 25 years, even my 14 yr. Old sentra wasn't rusted when I sold it.
Due to poor design or quality of material used in the manufacturing of the floor boards on either side of the vehicle is completely rusted through . You can see the underside of my carpet from underneath the vehicle . I am in fear of potential "crumple zone" / weakening of the car when in front end collision due to the rusted out area and the security of my driver and passenger seat during any type of accident because the seat mounting holes are near rusted/weakened area . I am in fear to even drive my car or sell it to someone else to drive . . In addition . . The cost to fix the problem areas far exceed the book value of the car . . There should be something done about this. This vehicle is not a rare vehicle there are millions of these vehicles on the road and millions of lives that could potentially be saved in accidents I have detailed photos of this issue of needed.
The part of the floor boards directly beneath where both the driver and the front seat passenger would normally place their feet has rusted through to the extent that only carpeting and insulation material prevents the feet from going through the floor to the ground. The local " carousel Nissan " dealership has taken photos and documented the damage but will assume no responsibility. The damage was noticed when a piece of the carpet or insulation was seen hanging under the car.
My elderly parent just took their 2006 Nissan Altima, garage kept with less than 40k miles to the local dealership for inspection. I was shocked when the technical explained that the drivers and passenger side floor boards are completely rusted out, soon pavement underneath their feet. They took pictures to prove the damage and submit to Nissan for repair. Apparently Nissan acknowledges the problem, but doesn't want to pay to fix (about $1000) or do a damn thing about the problem until someone gets hurt or killed! this is a outrage!!!!!!! Nissan knowingly built the piece of shit car, with crappy, rusty metal and sold the cars to the american people, but now what's to blame the consumer for the problem, we didn't build the car. . . . Nissan did!!!!! this is not only road a hazard, but a huge safety issue. They drive a very busy highway about twice a week, doing 60-70 mph, so rusty floor boards could defiently impair their ability to brake suddenly, causing bodily harm to the driver and passenger. . Whose fault would that be? why hasn't there been a recall issued by Nissan or the government? why is Nissan allowed to get away with this. . The consumer should not be held responsible for Nissan producing shit vehicles and selling them to american public. !!! why isn't Nissan being held responsible, just like gm!!!!!????.
Upon inspection of my car. And seeing news reports about 2002 to 2006 Nissan Altimas. My floors on both sides are fully rotted out. The rest of the car is solid. This is a huge safety issue as ur feet can go thru the floor. I have pictures . Nissan should have a recall or a fix for this. . .
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. While at an independent mechanic for inspection, the contact noticed that the floorboards on both the front driver and front passenger side were corroded. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
2006 Nissan Altima with rotted and rusted out front floorboards. $1000. 00 to rebuild and another $100. 00 for the dealer to reset the airbags. Why is this not being recalled? it is a safety issue!! those driving an Altima model years 2002-2008 take a look at the underside of your vehicle ASAP.
Both my driver and passenger floorboards are completely rusted out. I have a 12" long hole on one of the sides. Nissan doesn't cover it because it's not a safety issue. It is not safe by any means. I can put my entire foot through the hole! my seat can become less stable, fumes can come in, who knows. The cost to fix it is more than the car is worth. No recall period, and they are aware of the problem. My sister has the same make/model/year and she was shocked to find out she has the exact same problem. Same spots, same rust. Also, both cars were garaged.
Both the front drivers and passenger side floor pans are completely rusted out. The carpet is the only thing keeping your feet from going through the floor and touching the highway. From reading the other complaints on this site, it would appear that this is a common problem and seems to be due to a flaw in the manufacturing / engineering. This is a safety issue. Why is it not being addressed and remedied by Nissan ?.
The floor boards under the front driver and passenger seats are prematurely rotting. Each side has a huge hole approximately 5 inches across and 8-12 inches long and the holes continues to enlarge. This particular complaint has been made by hundreds of times by others. It is a safety issue and Nissan should do something to repair the vehicles! date listed below is when I first discovered it after a mechanic brought it to my attention while the car was up on a lift.
