1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2023

I started my vehicle, as usual, and when driving at a very slow speed (neighborhood speed limits) I approached a very busy intersection and the car just stopped. Not only did it stop, it would not steer and a bunch of warning lights came on the dashboard. Tav I believe, oil, check engine light. Even with the key in the acc mode, the power steering was not functioning. Everything just stopped functioning. I know this vehicle was recalled for the same exact thing back in 2008, but obviously it wasn't permanently fixed. Recall #07v-527. If I would have been in the middle of an intersection and this happened I could have been killed.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

Unknown: while driving the car will stall. After restarting it, the car will then be stuck in fifth (highest) gear. The ses (service engine soon) light comes on. The first time this happened, after the next trip, the ses light went out. Then the same thing happened. This is a danger because if this happens in heavy traffic, it could lead to a collision.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2019

When I drive the vehicle, the engine light constantly pops on and off the car consumes a large amount of oil each week, I have to check the oil and keep a case of oil with the filter in my truck to constantly fill it up. The car drains gas like crazy, and it's slow and driving and sluggish. The car has cut off on me in the middle of driving where I had to spend over $500 to get it repaired.

After the engine has started it may shut down randomly while driving. If the car is shut down for any reason it will not start back up for several hours. This is exactly the same as a previous recall on the car from NHTSA campaign number: 07v527000. It has shut down twice now while driving at less then 40 miles an hour.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2015

We would always comment about how people were in a hurry since they always sped past us when we were doing the speed limit according to the speedometer. Unfortunately, we hooked up a gps to the car and it tells us we're going 4 miles slower than what the speedometer says. Honestly, a speedometer should read correctly on a car that was bought brand new and never had anything done to it that would throw off the speedometer reading. (such as different sized tires being put on it).

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

While driving at low speed such as in a traffic jam or approaching a corner/light the vehicle shuts off, restarts but progressivley gets harder over time. Called Nissan. Com was told to take to Nissan dealer who updated computer, still happens called again and told to take again however this time they charged me almost $ 200. 00 still not fixed Nissan refused to assist.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

The car stalled and completely shut down when coming to a stop at a stop light. Since this time, the car has done this multiple times. The last time this happened, I was driving the car at 25 miles per hour and the car completely shut down. I had to pull over the car in the middle of traffic and restart the car. It almost caused an accident. When we took the car into the Nissan dealership, our 2006 Altima was not covered under the recall.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the passenger's side air bag sensor light was illuminated and flashing. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the seat needed to be replaced in order to remedy the defect. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number 08v521000(air bags, electrical system) and indicated that the vehicle experienced the same defect described in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect and advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 37,000. The VIN was not available.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2013

I had coolant service and after that I started experiencing low levels of coolant which led to overheating of car. I kept getting the car check to find out if there were leaks. I checked recall notices and then was told I needed sensors. I called Nissan in September and was told out of the 653k cars mine was not affected! I find that hard to believe. I then had sensors replaced (crankshaft and speed) . Now I'm being told head gasket blown and engine needs replacement. The recall from Nissan says there we engine cooling problems.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

Vehicle started to idle rough. At low speeds car will shut off. It starts back up but has to be in neutral when idle. Nissan dealer had the car for over a month and told me to replace my ecm and have it reprogrammed. This still has not fixed my problem and I'm worried about driving the car and causing an accident when it randomly shuts off. Nissan USA has a claim on my issue and will not tell me what to do to fix the problem.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

I had a recall on my 2006 Nissan Altima 2. 5l & I took it to the dealer in 2010 because the car engine will shut off when driven. It occurred multiple times & several times it occurred on a highway going at 60 miles per hours. I took it in to the dealer & the changed the part because of the recall. After battling for month to get my money back form the dealer the problem is occurring again. In 2012. I tried to trade it in but they under valued my car because of the recall history at $2,500. I need help & Nissan is refusing to pay full trade value on a recall. All I want is the problem fix permanently instead of having this ongoing problems. Nissan is not taking my concern seriously & I am getting rob on a problem that is not my fault.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

While I was driving the "service engine soon" light came on & stayed on then my car became sluggish & I pulled to the side of the road & it cut off, it wouldn't start after trying to restart it 4 or 5 times, then it started back up & I began to drive & the car jerked then became sluggish once again & cut off, "service engine soon" light remained on.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2010

I noticed that my 2006 Nissan Altima has a design defect. When you start up the engine the speedometer cluster lights up automatically, even if the driving lights are turned off. At night time, this can lead the driver to believe that his driving lights are on as well, since most other cars require for the lights to be turned on, in order to turn on the illumination on the speedometer cluster. I have seen other Nissan Altimas driven at night (including a 2010 Nissan Altima hybrid), which led me to believe that this is common design flaw for these cars.

2006 Altima 2. 5 s that is a lemon customer wants to have the car replaced under the lemon law* the consumer stated the vehicle has no start problem. The vehicle would start up when she began her day, but at unpredictable times. There is a grinding noise under the gas pedal while accelerating as well as when coming to a stop. The dealer stated the vibration/grinding noise was coming from the tires. All the windows and doors will lock and the remote keyless entry does not seem to work. The cd player and radio are not playing properly. The radio has a lot of static. The cd player makes the cd's sound like they are scratched.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2007

We purchased a 2006 Nissan Altima (new, never owned) on January 10, 2007. The vehicle has defects and has been bought to the dealer (Nissan of garden city in hempstead, new york) on four occasions;1/25/07, 2/1/02, 2/5/07, and 2/14/07. We filed a complaint with Nissan north America on 1/17/07. File number 5593141. The service representative is slow in providing response and other service representatives refuse to provide name or contact information of managerial staff. Their single means of communication is through e-mail. Their actual policy is to wait 24 hours before returning phone calls. I was advised this by one of their service representatives at their "800" number.
