36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Floor panel on driver and passenger have completely rusted through. I'm concerned for my son's safety as well as mine.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

The passenger side floorboard is completely rusted through. The area is approximately 5in by 12in and it seems that it us due to improper drainage from the manufacturing process. Sound dampening material is applied above a drain hole not allowing water to drain out. Now I have concern with the structural integrity of the vehicle since the body is part of the frame.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2015

While driving ~25 mph I was slowing down to a red traffic light and my car spontaneously shut off in traffic! I was able to put my car in park and restart the car. A few days later, it took 3 attempts before my engine started. After a diagnostic, the car displayed codes p0335 (crankshaft position sensor) and p0725 (engine speed circuit signal sensor). After doing much research I found hundreds of complaints online with similar issues! I input my VIN# to see if my vehicle was under recall and it wasn't. After seeing hundreds of the same complaints, why hasn't their been a recall? if there was, how is it possible that my car wasn't recalled?.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2015

While pulling to a stop light, the car engine shut off without warning. I put the car in park, turned off & attempted to restart the car. It wouldn't immediately start. This happens spontaneously in drive-thrus, stoplights and when coming to complete or near complete stops in traffic as well. Most recently I was exiting the interstate exit and the car stopped as a slowed to turn left off the exit, almost resulting in a car rear ending my vehicle at 50 miles per hou. The ses (service engine soon) light is displayed and even after having an oil change and tune up the light is still illuminated, confirming it's an ongoing issue outside of standard maintenance. I've been provided a reference number and dropped the car at Nissan dealership today to diagnose. Im fearful of my safety operating the vehicle at this point.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2015

Crankshift sensor failure causes car to jerk and then shut down without any notice an warning. Several 100s of people have the same issue and 2006 models had recalls but special editions were not included. It is so unsafe and various people have gotten close to horrible accidents due to it. Something should be done!.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2015

While driving my 2006 Altima on 6/8/15 for a few minutes after starting it when it had been parked for more than 12 hours, the car stalled. It restarted and I continued to drive. The following day, this occurred again exactly the same. Then the next day, the car stalled again after the car had been sitting only a few hours and "threw a code" , I. E. The "service engine soon" light came on. Today, 6/13/15, it occurred again when driving a few minutes after the car had been sitting for more than 8 hours. This time the car almost wouldn't restart. I looked up this issue and found a recall on the crankshaft position sensor. I took the car to courtesy Nissan who told me that my car did not fall under the recall. After the mechanic diagnosed the problem via the code, it was the crankshaft position sensor.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

"takata recall" I need to file a complaint against Nissan for the following problems, first is the paint in my car. I just purchased my car 2 years ago at a dealer and the cars paint and clear is fading and my car looks ugly, I have quoted at a paint body shop and they trying to charge $800 or more. I am still paying this car and don't appreciate that I have to pay for something that is a defect from the company. The headlight are awful and I can barely see at night or specially in the rain and afraid to use the high beams to prevent accidents.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2015

The floor boards on both the driver and passenger have rooted out almost completely on my 2006 Nissan Altima. I have noticed this a about a year ago and it has got increasingly worse since. I can push the carpet up from under the vehicle and feel very unsafe. I am careful not to put weight on the floors while entering the vehicle for fear I am going to put my foot through the floor. This is a very common issue due to a flawed design in the drain system. The floorboards hold water which may accumulate through the door while raining and salt and water from the under side. Please issue a recall and make Nissan fix these vehicles that could stay on the road for many more years. My car has 109k miles on it and is in very good shape and runs very well. I don't want to have to do this job myself or pay 1,000 to get it fixed.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

There is rust and holes that have developed under the drivers side of the car. I understand that this is happening to alot of Nissans all over the us. I also heard that because there aren't any injuries or fatalities that they haven't put a recall on this defect of the car. Is that what it will take?.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2015

I noticed a large amount of rust/holes forming under my 06 Nissan Altima with 80k on it. It's all in the floor boards, driver and passenger sides. In first noticed it back in the summer of 2014. . . . A few months after I bought it from a Nissan dealership. They said they couldn't do anything. I saw the news today about the same issue I noticed. We need a recall for safety. Cause it will become one. I will sue if my foot goes thru the floor.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

The floorboards of the car has a hole.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2015

Nissan is fully aware that many of their makes for several years have transmission issues that are directly related to them, and not the customer. There is (was??) a class action lawsuit against them that met my issues to a t. The transmission began hesitating when going from reverse to drive, and then jerking very hard into gear. Now it rough shifts between gears, and when driving if I slow down and begin to accelerate again it hesitates and almost stops, then the rpm goes up high and jerks very hard into gear. The issue is increasingly getting worse. Nissan should have to take responsibility and pay for their issue, especially when it is effecting hundreds of customers. I have a warranty but they refuse to help me unless my transmission is in pieces on the mechanics floor so they can look at it. The warranty company says it is my responsibility to find the mechanic, authorize the tear down, and then of course pay the bill if they refuse to fix it. This issue is not my fault and I should not be penalized for something I did not do. I chose Nissan expecting quality and so that is not what I have received. I paid my car off in a year (and it wasn't cheap!) so I cannot just go trade it in, and I do not have money to pay another car note. I expected at least 10 years out of the car, and should be able to get far more than 10 years out of it. This is ridiculous. My car is breaking down in front of my eyes with less than 115,000 miles on it and this is supposed to be a quality car. I should not have to be the one to pay these repairs. We are victims and we deserve to be compensated, not be punished.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

My complaints I have with this car. My first is the floor board is staying soaked with water and molding, which is not good for people with allergies to mold as in this case, and the rusted floorboard problem. The second is with the oxygen sensor and catalytic convertors.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

I took my vehicle in for an oil change and the garage informed me that the floor board on the driver side was rusted out so bad that you could touch the carpet from the bottom. Also the passenger side was rusted with a hole but not as big as the driver side. I am not sure why Nissan has not issued a recall for this being there are hundreds of complaints for this. This problem is a safety issue considering it will not pass a safety inspection.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

2006 Nissan Altima in excellent condition with the exception a significant structural defect. The floor panels on both the driver and passenger sides are severely corroded. This came to my attention while the car was at an independent auto shop for routine maintenance. The car has been well maintained and cared for. With the exception of the rust problem, the car is in excellent condition. It is incredible that the floor pan of a fastidiously maintained, modern unibody automobile would rust out almost completely within eight years. After a little research, it became apparent that this is a common problem for the 2006 Altima. Nissan is aware of this dangerous issue but they have no intention of rectifying it. Representative at Nissan USA with whom I spoke informed me to bring my car to a Nissan dealership for an estimate of the necessary repair. I brought the vehicle to decormier Nissan in manchester, CT and received an estimate of $1,700 plus tax. I again called Nissan north America and my case was transferred to the Nissan regional office. The representative informed me that my car was out of warranty and that the rust was due to salt applied to the roadways in CT, therefore Nissan would not be offering financial assistance in the repair of my car. She suggested that I pay for the repair out of pocket and wash the undercarriage regularly. The car is washed often. By hand during the temperate months and during the winter months at a car wash where the undercarriage is also washed. I have owned, driven and cared for a number of imported and domestic vehicles within the state of connecticut for many years and have never experienced this type of issue. After research, it became evident that this is a common problem for this particular vehicle that has recently surfaced. Nissan¿s response and lack of culpability pertaining to this issue is absolutely unacceptable.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2014

The crank shaft sensor went out last evening. I was driving the 2006 Nissan Altima at 35mph when the power seemed to slow, I pushed the gas and nothing was happening, and immediately it returned to normal power, though this occurrence turned on the check engine light. After arriving at my first destination all was fine and the check engine light was still on. When I went to start the car to leave it would not immediately start. I had to crank it two times to start and the check engine light was on. After extensive research and a trip to autozone, I learned it was the crank sensor and it was a problem for numerous owners. Also it was a recall on only certain models. Which mine is not one of. If the problem is in many vehicles and not just the one recalled then the recall should be for every one with the problem. The repair will cost me $120 so I don't see why it shouldn't be free at Nissan. Its not even that hard of a job. But regardless its a flaw that the manufactures should be held responsible for to each vehicle that is having the problem.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

I just want to file a complaint on my 2006 Nissan Altima I tried to trade my car in at colonial Nissan in medford and it got rejected due to rust on the floor boards I was just watching television and I saw that I am not the only one with this issue and that Nissan doesn't care. I am stuck with this car no auction will take it and I can't sell it because of the rust!!! what do I do now??? thanks, lisa baker.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2014

My 2006 Nissan Altima's floorboard is rusting through on the drivers side. This is a known defect that Nissan takes no responsibility for and my local dealership admitted as much. There is an engineering defect that causes this particular spot to be vulnerable to rust. This could become a safety issue.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

Floorboards are rusting through on driver & passenger sides of the vehicle. I'm concerned about safety if a hole opens or if something comes through from the underside.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

Took my vehicle in for an oil change . Tech brought me back to show me the drivers floorboard was completley rusted through. Let me tell you what safety hazards I can think of with this issue. 1. I do not feel like having my foot go through the floorboard and loosing control of my vehicle due to my foot being stuck I will not be able to brake. 2. The fumes and vapors can enter the vehicle therefore inducing an asthma attack from my two year old son who has severe asthma. 3. If the rust continues it may come to a point where the exhaust pipe can make contact with the carpet inititating a fire.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2014

I have a 2006 Nissan Altima that I took in for any inspection and the floor board on both the drive and passenger sides are rusting through to the point you can see carpet underneath. Looking around on the internet it became very obvious that I'm not the only one with this problem and a very big safety concern if the floor is just rusting out. I called Nissan and they basically told me too bad there is nothing they can do. They don't want to acknowledge the fact that this is a serious problem and a safety issue if the floor of the car is exposed to the ground. The car has spent the majority of its life in a garage so it must be from driving that they problem has occurred.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

Drivers and passangers floor boards rotted out. Nissan needs to recall this issue and stand behind their cars.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2014

The driver and passanger floor boards are rusted. Like many other 2005 Nissan Altima's. The heat in the car also only runs warm when the vehicle is moving. If the vehicle is at a stop the heat blows cold.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2014

I was parked at a bus stop I was told to move I turned car on and it shut off I turned it back on and it worked next day I was driving came to a stop light and the car shit off without warning.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

While my mechanic was checking my brakes and other things he noticed that the floor under the driver side and passenger side are fully rusted. When I got the call this morning I immediately went online to search for this. It seems like this is an ongoing issue and there is no recall for this (which im not surprise). I have spoken to a body shop since I work for an insurance company and they said this has been a problem with these cars. I also spoke to someone who works for Nissan and they confirmed that this is an ongoing issue. . I have never had any major issues with my car until this. It wont pass inspection which I have to do in a couple of months. I also have a friend who had the same car different year with the same issues and he just ended up getting rid of it. Im hoping to get this fix as soon as possible. Nissan seems to charge roughly $700 a side to get this problem taken care of. This is not fair to the consumer since its a flaw in their design. We should not be paying a dime to get this fix!!!.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

While driving at low speed such as in a traffic jam or approaching a corner/light the vehicle shuts off, restarts but progressivley gets harder over time. Called Nissan. Com was told to take to Nissan dealer who updated computer, still happens called again and told to take again however this time they charged me almost $ 200. 00 still not fixed Nissan refused to assist.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

There is no specific incident, but last summer (August 2014) I had new tires put on and the mechanic noticed that my floor board was beginning to rust out. I now know, through recent news, that it is not just my car, but most Nissan Altima models. I actually complained to them about it last summer and of course they did nothing. This should be a recall if mechanics and professionals are noticing that something is not right. I get regular car washes to prevent rust, as I live in northern indiana and salt is the way we fight our snow problem. It is not safe for the floor board to rust out. If I were driving an older car I would expect this. However, this should not be happening to a 2006 model car.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2014

Vehicle in for annual inspection - it did not pass secondary to extensive rust on driver and passenger side floor boards. Car is garage kept year round and not driven in winter (end of oct - beginning of April). Car has never been in an accident and has been excellently maintained. No other issues whatsoever with vehicle. Quick search on internet and immediately saw many identical reports including video documentation. This is very upsetting and inexcusable for a car of this age driven in fair weather conditions. Nissan really needs to cover this defect.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

After a series of hard rains and wet driving conditions, I noticed a wet, musty smell in the cabin interior. After inspecting all door and window seals without finding any leaks, I inspected underneath the car and noticed that the floorpan area beneath both the driver and passenger seats were rusting through with open holes in both areas. This immediately struck me as a defect as the vehicle is otherwise rust-free. Upon researching, I discovered that this appears to be a common issue with 01-06 Nissan Altimas. I contacted the dealer who acknowledged the issue. However, they noted that Nissan has not taken action to address this defect. They provided a rough estimate for repairs as they have referred other customers to body shops for repair (~$500-600 per side). Not only is this likely to damage the interior, but it would seem to be a likely safety hazard with the weakened floorpan. I have had my car at a Nissan dealership for routine inspections, and this issue was never noted on the inspection.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

Put car on hoist and saw the driver's floor pan was rusted totally through. Hole is about 16" x 16". It wasn't there in January of 2014. Body shop says this is not uncommon for Nissan Altimas.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2014

My Nissan Altima VIN # included separately, has about 90,000 miles on it. It was bought February 2007 and has been owned by me since then (first and only owner). I performed my 90,000 mile servicing today and was notified by my mechanic that the floor boards on passenger side and driver side (undercarriage) are rusting and I can see a hole opening up there. He showed me while I was waiting for my car to get fixed at the shop. The rest of the undercarriage seemed fine. This indicates a manufacturing defect to me. I also would like to point out that this is a clear safety issue with the vehicle: modern vehicles ought not to rot like so, and such a rot exposes the passenger and driver at great risk while operating the vehicle. I am getting extremely uncomfortable now operating this vehicle. It has served me well, and the engine/drivetrain has itself been trouble free. However, if the floor boards rot like this, I am unsure about the vehicle's overall structural integrity.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2014

I went to take my car in for inspection today for my 2006 Nissan Altima and found out the drivers and passenger side floor panel is completely rusted. This is a defect in the metal used by Nissan as I have read many issues regarding this. The cost to repair is approximately $2500 and I am filing a complaint as Nissan should be held responsible.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2014

Took my car in for inspection today and they said it will not pass as the passenger and drivers side floor panel is completely rusted. The cost for repair is $2500 and there are numerous known issues by Nissan for this problem. Nissan should be paying for this repair, the vehicle year is 2006 with 85,000 miles and is not exposed to salt water and has never been in a flood. Defective metal, known issue by Nissan and needs to be on the recall list.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

2006 Nissan Altima sl 3. 5 v6, cannot read codes from ecu. Check engine light on, car will take off slow and build up speed almost like it is having a power surge. During driving the gas pedal has to be presses all the way down to gain speed at dangerously slow rates, at times at a full stop the car takes a dangerous amount of time to build up speed.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

The car stalled and completely shut down when coming to a stop at a stop light. Since this time, the car has done this multiple times. The last time this happened, I was driving the car at 25 miles per hour and the car completely shut down. I had to pull over the car in the middle of traffic and restart the car. It almost caused an accident. When we took the car into the Nissan dealership, our 2006 Altima was not covered under the recall.
