1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2025

Cvtc transmission stalls almost got my kids and my pregnant daughter hit I bought the car only 2 months ago.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2023

I started my vehicle, as usual, and when driving at a very slow speed (neighborhood speed limits) I approached a very busy intersection and the car just stopped. Not only did it stop, it would not steer and a bunch of warning lights came on the dashboard. Tav I believe, oil, check engine light. Even with the key in the acc mode, the power steering was not functioning. Everything just stopped functioning. I know this vehicle was recalled for the same exact thing back in 2008, but obviously it wasn't permanently fixed. Recall #07v-527. If I would have been in the middle of an intersection and this happened I could have been killed.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2019

The brake light and battery light come on simultaneously the car feel s like it wants to stall. But goes away. Then it ha coming on more and more and as I drive all of a sudden all my rpms speed go from 40 ,60 or at 80 drop to zero . Like the car wants to die but kicks back on. It happens at a traffic light or driving the intermediate brake battery light coming on. Once the car warms up is when I notice it starting. It happens on city streets, but the all rpms and speedometer dropped several times last week 9 times in a 15 mile span as I was on a interstate.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2019

When I drive the vehicle, the engine light constantly pops on and off the car consumes a large amount of oil each week, I have to check the oil and keep a case of oil with the filter in my truck to constantly fill it up. The car drains gas like crazy, and it's slow and driving and sluggish. The car has cut off on me in the middle of driving where I had to spend over $500 to get it repaired.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

Takata when the airbag deploy which almost caused my life. I have 20 some fractured ribs and spine fractures as well. Also my footpedal speed up without my knowledge and was stuck. I don't know if the lights had anything to do with it but traffic was stopped on the highway.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2017

All incidents in parking lots during manuvering into or out of parking spaces. Throttle goes wideopen, car lurches forward or backward, completely out of driver control for approx. 10 to 15 seconds.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

Takata, recall my car will have gas in the car the next minute I will be empty and stall on highway several times. The speed of vehicle sometimes wont go a certain speed then all sudden goes fast. I had sensors replaced twice in the last two years. My car completely shut down on highway.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

The vehicle threw a code for the camshaft sensor had that replaced then the vehicle threw a code for the crankshaft sensor. Midas replaced two of them still could not clear the code. The vehicle will start in drive but it will sputter while stopped like it is going to stall. When slowing down or coming to a stop the car will shut off and is very difficult to get started again.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Crankshaft sensor is bad causing the car to stall at any time - even at high speeds. It has happened while driving slowly through a neighborhood as well as on an interstate causing the car to be difficult to steer to get off the road. This is very dangerous! check engine light came and computer says that its the crankshaft/camshaft sensor that needs replacing.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2016

When check engine light is on, the car speed suddenly drop to below 10 miles per hour. This happened twice: one was on 03/14/2016, another was two years ago. Both cases happened on local roads with speed limit below 50 miles per hour. I turned on emergency light and tried to stop the car. Turned off the car, and restarted it. The car speed was back to normal.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2015

While pulling to a stop light, the car engine shut off without warning. I put the car in park, turned off & attempted to restart the car. It wouldn't immediately start. This happens spontaneously in drive-thrus, stoplights and when coming to complete or near complete stops in traffic as well. Most recently I was exiting the interstate exit and the car stopped as a slowed to turn left off the exit, almost resulting in a car rear ending my vehicle at 50 miles per hou. The ses (service engine soon) light is displayed and even after having an oil change and tune up the light is still illuminated, confirming it's an ongoing issue outside of standard maintenance. I've been provided a reference number and dropped the car at Nissan dealership today to diagnose. Im fearful of my safety operating the vehicle at this point.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2015

My car engine shut off periodically while being drive at low speeds and higher oil consumption. The first time occurred on June 6, 2015 while driving across woodyard road to pine view lane from the clinton shopping center. The second time was on Friday June 12, 2015 while driving home from the branch Ave metro parking, with my brother on the way home, while turning off from highway 5 on to surratt’s road, leaving my brother and I dangerously stuck the right side of the off curve with cars going by blowing their horns. The Altima does start back up, but only after a minute or two. No apparent reason why, no warning lights. The car has been consuming more oil than usual and after the first incident, the service engine light came on and does not shut off. A search for recalls revealed in fact that there was a recall issued, 06v-223 on the 2006 Altima, but was not notified or the recall addressed.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

My car was previously serviced for a campaign posted on your website, but the problem was not fixed. I should be entitled to have this problem re worked and fixed. The problem is that the car stalls out without warning, creating a dangerous situation. It stalls out while driving and while idle.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2013

While driving in a small street, gas peddle just stops working. Car just keeps moving at speed of 5miles like in neutral mode but checked being in drive mode. Then all lights start flashing and stops after some distance). Towed to dealer-states battery suddenly died. Bring it home. Then same thing happened - again just stops working at redlight with flashing all lights but clearly battery ok as powered drive seat can be moved. Again towed and dealer stating that they are changing alternator. Appears recall of 2007 - crankshaft position sensor/engine stall or similar nature problem happening again. Very dangerous to suddenly stop on road. Called Nissan- opened case #[xxx]. Waiting for their assessment. Car has been repaired so many times since bought new in 2006 , even engine changed. Still multiple problem- dealer visit. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

On my way to work, I drove approximately one-half of a mile. From a stopped position and as I was about to turn onto stone mountain freeway-hwy 78, my car would barely move. I had to enter the freeway. I put on my emergency lights and was able to get off about one-half of a mile further. While trying to get to the dealership, the car lurched and picked-up its normal speed. I went to the dealership, they ran a self diagnostic test and this is what came a/t 1st gr fnctn [p0731] once at work, a CO-worker googled p0731, and found this recall id # 07v527000 stating that on certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 2. 5l engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in signal output from the sensor. I called Nissan. They said my sensor had been replaced in 2007. I purchased the car used in 2013. A couple of weeks later, first thing in the morning, it happened again right outside of my apartment complex and before I entered the freeway. This time at about 10 mph. I slowly road on a rarely traveled access road. I just let the car crawl. I did not try to force anything. After about one mile, the car lurched and the speed became normal again. It has happen one additional time since. On Saturday, 9-21-2013, I went to the Nissan dealership close to my apartment and I was willing to pay to have the part replaced, but I was told by the service manager that if they can not duplicate the problem, they can not repair it. I was told by the service manager to call Nissan corporate and ask them to open a case. I did. A person called me back and basically reiterated that if the technician can not duplicate the problem, they can not repair the vehicle even if my life is in danger because I'm at risk of being in an accident due to a documented Nissan recalled defect.

Failure Date: 07/11/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 30 mph without warning. 17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2013

I had coolant service and after that I started experiencing low levels of coolant which led to overheating of car. I kept getting the car check to find out if there were leaks. I checked recall notices and then was told I needed sensors. I called Nissan in September and was told out of the 653k cars mine was not affected! I find that hard to believe. I then had sensors replaced (crankshaft and speed) . Now I'm being told head gasket blown and engine needs replacement. The recall from Nissan says there we engine cooling problems.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2013

6/08 - car lurched and tried to stall on interstate and check engine light came on. Was able to drive to mechanic's shop. Issue was determined to be the crankshaft position sensor by mechanic, and part was replaced with an oem part but this did not resolve the problem so the sensor was removed and replaced with the sensor that was pulled out. Was able to drive to dealership from mechanic's shop on 6/15 (yes, he had the car for a week). Issue was determined to be crankshaft position sensor, which was replaced. One day and 20 miles later the problem has manifested itself. . . Check engine came on and car does not want to start. This sensor was part of a previous recall for 2006 Altimas but I was told my car (when checking VIN) was not part of the recall. I have to take the car back to the Nissan dealership.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

Vehicle started to idle rough. At low speeds car will shut off. It starts back up but has to be in neutral when idle. Nissan dealer had the car for over a month and told me to replace my ecm and have it reprogrammed. This still has not fixed my problem and I'm worried about driving the car and causing an accident when it randomly shuts off. Nissan USA has a claim on my issue and will not tell me what to do to fix the problem.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2012

While driving at 55 mph in highway, there was a brief speed interruption without warning. Then service engine soon light was on. I took the vehicle to the local mechanic for a diagnostic test. The test results showed a failure with the crank shaft sensor. The mechanic replaced the crank shaft sensor but the repair did not remedy the issue. It happens only on highway speed.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2012

Crankshaft position sensor signal.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2011

This 2006 nisaan Altima is experiencing the exact same malfunctions as in previous recalls. The crank sensor is causing the car to abruptly stop running if driven at low speed. Incident almost occured on PA turnpike during am rush hour traffic and finally stopped at a traffic light in a residential area in mid-day. I had to put caution lights on immediately and hope that I didn't cause an accident. Please re investigate this matter. It is such a major concern and needs immediate attention once again I see. Thanks so much!.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

On several occasions my car as suddenly cutoff, while driving!!!! luckily, nobody was ever physically hurt. Mentally and emotionally it scared the crap out of several people, including myself. While on the expressway I've started to notice my car automatically slowing down after a certain speed, without me even touching the brakes. For awhile I stopped getting on the expressway, in fear of my car completely stopping with cars driving behind me at a faster pace. Also, at 55 + miles/hr my tires start to wobble and there's a scrubbing noise with the wobble sometimes. It feels like my back tires are about to fall off. I've bought 3 sets of tires already, and tomorrow will be my 4th set. This is ridiculous and very unsafe!!!!! please help me, thanks.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while at a traffic light the vehicle accelerated on its own with his foot on the brake pedal. The failure has occurred once since he purchased the vehicle. The dealer stated that they didn't have anyone else file a complaint about the failure. No repairs were made to date. The failure mileage was 36831 and the current mileage was 37600. Updated 03/12/10. Updated 09/21/jb.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2009

The vehicle is slow in changing gears.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2007

I was pulling into a parking space in front of the building where I work. I had my foot on the brake and the car accelerated and went over the curb, it accelerated a second time and sped between two trees, then between a tree and building and ended up facing the opposite direction of the parking spot on the sidewalk in front of the building. The car basically did a full "u" from the parking spot to the sidewalk. My feeling is that I had the wheel turned to the right to park in the parking spot and did not have time to straighten the steering wheel so the car continued to go to the right, hence the "u". The driver side air bags went off. I had on several occasions experienced the car hesitating when I would accelerate after stopping at a stop sign or light. The car would hesitate and then resume at a normal speed. Once the car resumed speed, the car seemed fine.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2006

The vehicle was purchased new in 2006. Two weeks later the car would not crank and the engine had to be replaced. Shortly after, I noticed that the heating system did not work in the vehicle. When I placed my foot on the brake, the heat blew out cold air. I knew there was something wrong, therefore I called the dealership to report this problem and was told "that is the way new models are made". This problem was not fixed. In the winter when the car is not moving (such as at a red light) cold air blows in the car, not heat. I have experienced rattling noises with my car. It can be heard when the car is driven as if something is loose. I took the car to the dealership in 2011 to have it checked. I got the car fixed by an independent mechanic and the noise continued. Each year I have gotten my rotors and brake pads replaced in the front and rear. I do not think this is normal. I have had my car 5. 5 years with 79k miles. Problems have occurred with the electrical part of the car. The lights have become deemed when I drove on 2 occasions, the passenger door will not lock, the seat does not adjust all the way down, and sometimes when I press the alarm button on my key, my windows have went down automatically.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. While driving long distances between 60-70 mph, the vehicle surges when it comes to a complete stop. The failure occurred ten previous times and was taken to the dealer each time. The contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred one month later. He has become so used to the failure, that he can feel it before it actually occurs. He applies the brakes 30 feet behind other vehicles to avoid a rear end crash. The contact must also shut off the vehicle to solve the failure on his own. The most recent failure occurred while his wife was exiting the vehicle. The failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 11,500.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2006

The contact stated while traveling 75 mph on a highway and depressing the brake, control of the vehicle was lost. The vehicle would not slow down and spun sideways. When the vehicle finally came to a complete stop, it was facing the traffic. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the highway and then to the contact's residence. An appointment has been made with the dealer to inspect the vehicle on 7/31/06.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2006

I purchased my 2006 Nissan Altima se-r around 4/18/2008 with around 34,000 miles. A few days later, I noticed the clutch pedal was sticking down to the floor and wouldn't come back up. Before I could take it to the dealer, the car clutch gave up on me and had to get it tow to the dealer. Dealer then replace the clutch ($1000) after a few days, the clutch pedal was still sticking to the floor, so I took it back to the dealer. Dealer had the car for a few hours and then called me to say it was done (fix) after that, the car was fine for a while. A month ago, around 5/15/2010, clutch pedal started to stick to the floor again and wouldn't come up. I called a mechanic and he explained to me over the phone that most likely it's the master cylinder or slave that went out and needs replacement. . Read more...

Failure Date: 05/12/2006

Speedometer is off by as much as 10 miles per hour.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2006

I was in the process of pulling into a driveway and parking my car, when all of a sudden the car accelerated. I had my foot on the brake. The car continued to pick up speed. I hit my friends house. I put the car in park to stop the car. Their was damage to my car, my friends garage, the car in the garage, a freezer, and a brick wall. My car took on a life of its own. I felt I had no control over the car. On several occasions, when I would be at a complete stop, and would go to take off, the car would hesitate, then all of a sudden it would take off at approximately 55-65 miles per hour. I thought this was just something the car was set up to do. I feel that's what happen to my car that day. My car was only 5 months old.
