Air bag light keeps blinking. On a 2007 Nissan Altima no one is sitting in the seat. It cost $2,000. 00. To replace. No don't have to be moving. It's when you turn the car on.
Took it to Nissan dealership. Air bag light flashing. They found passenger side occupant control unit sensor failure. They said I needed to replace passenger seat cushion at a cost of $2123. 88. Also, the light on the dashboard reads passenger air bag off 2 when a adult is setting in passenger seat and won't go off. I contacted Nissan corp. And they told me this wasn't covered by recall. This is a safety issue for me and my family and Nissan needs to correct this issue immediately. I look forward to your response in this matter. I wasn't notified about any recall during the time I had this car. I purchased this car new.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. When the contact started the vehicle, the front passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor needed to be reset. The sensor was reset, but the failure recurred after the repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time. The technician stated that the passenger side seat cushion and air bag sensor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,300.
Passenger airbag light is on. It won't reset. There is a problem and in a crash may not deploy causing harm to the passenger. The light came on one day when starting it one morning. On a residential street.
Passenger airbag light warning that airbag is off when passenger is in the seat. Dealer cannot fix since they cannot duplicate it. I have it on video while the car was driven and passenger in the seat. I wonder if other owners complained. I have this problem for some time.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at no particular speed the passenger air bag light illuminated. The failure occurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000. . . Updated 04-29-14 the consumer stated the air bag illuminated at various times, throughout the years. Updated 05/15/14.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the front passenger side air bag indicator was illuminated on the instrument panel. There was an occupant seated in the front passenger seat at the time. Whenever the air bag system detected that an occupant was seated in the passenger seat, the failure would occur without warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection, but they could not duplicate the failure. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 08v521000 (air bags); however, the failures were identical. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 22,300. Updated 08/21/09. Updated 08/26/09.
On the dashboard there is a passenger airbag status indicator. The light comes on when I have a full grown adult. According to the manual the light should not come on when there is an adult in the seat. I asked the dealer about this and the sensor shouldn't trip unless there is someone that weighs less then 100 lbs. My passenger is close to 200 lbs, but the sensor still indicates the passenger airbag system is off. This happens multiple times over the course of the last month. I have made an appointment to have it serviced.
This is a recurring problem. I have a 2007 Nissan Altima 2. 5s. As indicated by the safety light on the dashboard, the passenger side airbag in my vehicle will turn on and off repeatedly when I have a passenger sitting in the seat. This is despite knowing the passenger weighs far more (over 150 lbs) than the safety limits for which the airbag should be designed to turn off. The airbag indicator will light notifying us that the passenger airbag has turned off and will often remain lit for 20-30 minutes at a time, but the time will vary. But almost 60-70% of the time when I have a passenger in my vehicle for longer than 5 minutes, at some point in the trip the airbag will turn off for a significant amount of time. This has been brought to the dealer for inspection and I have notified Nissan corporate, neither of which has resulted in anything beyond a cursory inspection which resulted in no action being done. This has been on-going for some time now. The "incident date" reported below is when I first began to notice the issue. But again, this is an on-going issue. Research online shows that on various forums, I'm not the only one to experience this problem. And again, this happens often enough that I think it more than accounts for simple "sitting awkwardly" or in a weird position.
I drive a 2007 Altima and the passenger airbag light goes on and off and at times stays on for a while, up to 15 miles while driving. We've took it twice to get fix at the dealer ship and the first time they replace the seat liner and that worked for two weeks and the back to the same thing. We took back and they said there was nothing wrong. Again the light comes on once in a while and the director at the dealer ship ask us to bring it back, again they could not find anything wrong. We also purchase the extended warranty and as of now it's still malfunctioning every so often. I'm just worry it will not perform properly when needed. Now I just don't know what else to do. I don't feel safe to carry my family in the passenger seat anymore.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag off warning indicator would illuminate with the passenger seat occupied. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 08v521000 (air bags) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs. The vehicle was repaired under the recall however, the failure persisted. The contact attempted to take the vehicle back to the dealer but was advised that they were only liable to perform what was described in the recall and provided no further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 8,300.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The dealer informed the contact that the passenger side air bag light should display off when no one is sitting in the seat, or when a child under 90 pounds sits in the seat. However, the air bag light continues to display that the air bag was deactivated even when an adult is sitting in the seat. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The current mileage was 14,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.
Our vehicle has had problems for almost two years with the passenger airbag light staying on during travel. We have made numerous visits to the dealer, and unless they can replicate it, they cannot fix the problem. We have even made a complaint with Nissan. No one seems to know if the airbag is defective or if there is an electrical problem. We are tired of trying to get this resolved through Nissan and the dealer. We do not want to have an accident to see if the airbag works properly.
