1 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2011

I had no problems with my air conditioner until one day I started the car and a horrible noise started. I took it to the shop and a mechanic told me to keep the a/c button pushed so the clutch would stay engaged until I can get it fixed. I had it repaired today and the total cost was $870. 11. My mechanic called Nissan and was told there was a notice for this problem, but no recall.

2 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there was a strong smell inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who stated that there was a crack in the short block in the engine resulting in a cooling leak. The manufacturer was contacted and they would not take responsibility because the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 81,124.

3 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2008

One week after taking my 2007 Nissan Altima into the dealership for an oil change and some recalls, I heard a grinding noise coming from under the hood during startup. Upon further diagnosis, the noise would come back when the a/c was turned off. The ironic part is, this was the first time the dealership had seen my car since the 36,000 mile warranty had expired. Now, another week later, the a/c will not even work, and no repair shop can repair it except the dealership.

4 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. While driving approximately 55 mph the vehicle began to accelerate on its own. The contact stated the vehicle also lost traction as if the transmission was slipping. The contact stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the highway and attempted to shut the vehicle off by removing the key from the ignition. The engine remained on after the key was removed from the ignition. The vehicle eventually shut off. The contact restarted the vehicle and noticed smoke escaping from the engine compartment. When the contact looked under the hood it was on fire. The fire and police department reported to the scene and report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired and was declared destroyed. The contact was not made aware of what caused the fire to occur. When the contact purchased the vehicle the dealer did not notify him of NHTSA recall campaign id number: 07v267000 (engine and engine cooling) which the vehicle was included and could be related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
