1 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that during a rainstorm, the front passenger window could be opened but would not close. The contact was informed by the dealer that the window regulator would have to be replaced at her expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were unknown.

2 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2010

The driver's side mirror is housed in a casing of reflective metal, the same as the rest of the body of the car. The shape of the shaft connecting the casing to the door is shaped nearly parabolic, which means that if parallel rays of light (such as from the sun) are collected and focused so that they concentrate at one point. As it happens, the glare from the sunlight concentrates at a point right around where the driver's eyes would be. At least near my eyes, though I'm taller than average (6'5"). The glare is very distracting for me. I have to lean off to the side to try to avoid the glare. In the past I've gotten around the problem by cutting strips of black gaffer's tape (a kind of tape used by tv and sound professionals) and covering up the top of the mirror housing. It was recently taken off when I had some scratches buffed out elsewhere on the car. I happened to get some direct sun today, so I grabbed some pictures to share with you, if you want them.

3 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2008

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima. While the vehicle was locked at the contact's residence, an intruder broke the lock mechanism on the front driver's side door. When this occurred, both of the front driver's side and rear windows automatically released in a downward position. The police was called to the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle will be taken to an authorized dealer for the malfunction. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 8,000.

4 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima coupe. While backing out of a parking space, the contact could not see through the rear window due to its poor design. She returned the vehicle to the dealer because she was concerned that a crash could occur due to poor visibility. The dealer reimbursed the contact for the full purchase price of the vehicle. The speed was not a factor. The failure and current mileages were 111. Updated 09/15/08 updated 09/18/08.
