Dashboard is melting. Sticky and shiny in hot sun causing severe visibility problems.
The car shakes badly when on reverse and I can smell a burnt wire but hard to locate where it's coming from.
The dashboard on my 2009 Nissan Altima has started to produce a very shinny and sticky substance. This substance is creating a glare on the windshield of my car when the sun is shining making it very difficult to see the street in front of me. I have tried several methods to remove this substance without success. From what I understand this is due to heat and humidity but my car is always parked in the garage when I'm not out in it. This is a safety hazard that in my opinion should be addressed by Nissan. There was a class action lawsuit in 2017 where Nissan agreed to pay all but $250 for the replacement of these dashboards. See gibbs law group online for details. . Read more...
Door handles on car break internally preventing door from being unlocked or opened from inside or outside. Dealer has replaced two at my expense and now the other two are broken with the same symptoms. No abuse or accident involved they just alll of the sudden stop working. Concern is in an emergency (fire, accident, etc. . ) passengers or driver would not be able to exit car easily or at all in a timely basis, possibly causing severe injury or death. I have contacted Nissan and they lodged a complaint but nothing more. I have read of multiple instances on the internet with Nissan owners having the same problem. Fix is very expensive when done at the dealer and I belive a recall/reimbursement is due.
"takata recall" on may 14, 2019, I spoke with a Nissan representative regarding my defective dashboard that is melting and has become shiny and sticky with a glare. It is dangerous as the silk surface of my dash glares onto my windshield and totally obstructs my view. The representative instructed me to go to my Nissan dealer and have a diagnostic done. I went to the dealership, who gave me a piece of paper describing the defective dashboard and the cost of replacing it. On may 20, 2019, I spoke with another Nissan representation, where I explained that I have a piece of paper from Nissan stating the problem with my dashboard and what it will cost to fix it. I was then told that because my warranty coverage had expired, there is nothing Nissan can do about my defective dashboard. As indicated on the internet, this is a known issue with the make and model (Nissan Altima) car I have and there are several accidents that have resulted from it. I also noticed that florida sued Nissan on this same issue and won. I'm disappointed that Nissan isn't owning up to its responsibility on this issue and is making me resort to sending this letter for a resolution. I'm asking that Nissan replace the dashboard at no charge as this is a defect that Nissan needs to correct. Please call me and let me know when I should bring my car in for repair.
I am experiencing two severe safety issues with my 2009 Nissan Altima coupe. 1. When I am driving on the highway, after about an hour, my transmission will not allow the car to go the speed limit or accelerate. No matter how hard I press on the gas pedal, the car will not shift, loses power and gets progressively worse the farther I drive. I had to pull off the highway for fear that someone would hit me because no matter how hard I tried to accelerate, the car would only go about 40 mph. 2. The dashboard is literally melting causing a blinding glare when the sun (during the day) or other headlights (during the night or rain) hit it. . . It creates a blinding glare making it impossible to see. Both of these issues, the transmission and dash make driving extremely hazardous.
The top of the dashboard is melting. This causes a shiny surface which is reflective in the sun, causing a major distraction to the driver.
It won't start most of the time and when it does it'll only let me get up to maybe 20mph and that's it.
Nothing but problems with this car since I purchased it. Had to replace all tire sensors, speed sensors, coils, front passenger tire rod, the ctv transmission, and the trunk leaks into the trunk and the tail light's. I have repaired all these things out of my own pocket. I have been stranded several times, I have almost been hit, and have had the car towed. The dash has become sticky and everything sticks to it. It produces a glare on the wondow which makes it hard to see. The engine experiences loss of power and no mechanic can pinpoint the problem. I do not drive it much since I have purchased it. This car should be a lemon or recalled. The problems keep coming.
The dashboard is melting and is causing such a glare, during the day but also at night making it unsafe to drive.
Car caught on fire completely totaled. It was driven less than 2 miles parked and shut off. Within 15 minutes the car was completely engulfed in flames.
Dash board is melting.
The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there was a glare on the dashboard of the vehicle, which made driving extremely difficult. The contact stated that the glare impaired the driver's vision. The contact also stated that the dashboard seemed as if it were melting. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. Water leaks inside the car every time it rains, when it's stationary. Water is all over the front floor mats and back floor mats. From the moment I bought the car, water got trapped in the passenger front door. I had to manually drain the water by lifting the rubber on the edges of the door. Currently, the water has moved inside the car. As said above, all over the car floor. I took the car to Nissan and they discover the the body draining hose came off, $500 later. This a manufacturing defect, how can a drainage hose just come off. This is a safety issue because water can create electrical issues with the car and present unsafe driving.
Dashboard is melting causing glare on windshield.
The dashboard is sticky which sometimes causes a glare on the windshield when driving the vehicle. My son 18 and the primary driver of the vehicle has stated that sometimes on sunny days there is a glare on the windshield caused by the sticky dashboard. My concern is for his safety and the safety of others driving and this causing an accidents.
This car leaks water into the drivers side floor, and keeps trapped rain water inside of both panel doors for weeks after it rains. I've already had to get the exhaust manifold leak fixed (which luckily was covered under a recall). Not to mention that I ended up having to go to the er last year for a breathing treatment because fumes were leaking into my cabin via the air conditioning(problem unknown/undiagnosed). But now like many other owners of the 2009 Nissan Altima, unfortunately the steering wheel ignition lock/switch malfunctioned causing my engine not to be able to turn on suddenly. When I returned to my car, the key fob was not recognized and the engine will not turn on. After towing it to a local Nissan dealership, it was diagnosed as a faulty steering wheel ignition lock, and will cost me an average of $1100 to fix. After contacting Nissans headquarters to see if it would be covered even though their "campaign" ended in Jan 2016 for my vehicle, they denied the request to provide assistance. I don't understand how any auto manufacturer can be allowed to get away with installing a faulty part into the car, and then pass along the ultimate cost of fixing it to any owner. It's not okay to simply cover the cost of those owners who's switch fails during a certain time period, and then inform the rest of us that they are unwilling to help. Nissan installed the defective part, and the right thing to do would be to own up to that mistake and issue a recall. Clearly Nissan does not have the best interest of their customers at heart. And from what I understand, they must have known that part was faulty enough not to issue a temporary extension of the.
My dashboard has been melting for over a year now and progressing at a rapid rate. Not only is it sticky, but it is so wide spread now that it will cause a glare in the sun while driving on any road on the windshield that poses an immense safety risk. This is an issue that requires a recall as soon as possible. I contacted Nissan multiple times and they have refused to repair it.

I have 2009 Nissan Altima and it has a very sticky, shiny dashboard. Some part of the dashboard is so shiny that it creates a glare on windshield during daytime when it is sunny outside and makes it very difficult to see the other cars, pedestrians etc. During driving. This a huge safety concern and should be take care of by Nissan ASAP.
I have a 2009 Nissan Altima which I bought brand new. My car has only 76k miles. The problem is there is rust forming at the floorbeds which is making the car unsafe and is causing brakes issues. I was told Nissan knew about the rust problem from a very longtime. Last week, I spend $210 to fix air leaks due to failed sensors. The problem is affecting brakes and sensors of the car which is making the car unsafe.

I was driving to work this morning and the sun hit my dashboard which has been melting and has a glair reflection on my windshield. A pedestrian was crossing the street, I almost hit them because I was blinded by the glair from the windshield. Please have a recall on that issue so Nissan can fix that unsafe and annoying issue.
The hood suddenly flew up, hitting the windshield. Fortunately the windshield did not break, but there is damage on both sides of the car where the hood bent the body. A couple of months ago I had multiple incidents of the initial hood latch coming loose, so I noted the car sitting in the parking area with the hood only on the 1st latch.

I was driving on the south conduit by exit 23a near the belt parkway. There were several pot holes on the left lane. I hit the pot holes at normal speed and my rim broke and my tire came off. I had to pull to the side and wait for mechanic to help me.

My 09 Altima's dash is melting. Noticed little small spots a year and a half ago. Started getting more spots and larger spots. Now the whole top part of the dash by the front window is sticky ,tacky and slick. Very bad glare in the window and cannot drive car in bright sunlight safely. Thought it was the heat but you can touch the dash at night, at 40 degrees and you will get black marks on your finger tips. Several reports on car forums of vehicles doing the same. Can not wipe the dash or touch it with anything because it will stick or mark the dash. As the dash deterioration gets worse, it will be more dangerous to drive.
Help, a melting and shiny sticky dash on my 2009 Altima generates a tremendous glare on the windshield and prevents me from clearly viewing the highway in front during the day. It also distors the viewing during the night due to the on-comming vehicles headlights. It is highly serious and dangerous driving safety hazard problem that could/will "it is just a timing issue" cause an accident, the dash can't be clean and is melting. It is also minimazing the value of the vehicle. Please advise if there is solution or recall from Nissan to fix this problem.
Vehicles dash is melting causing a horrible glare that impairs visibility.
Rear left and right doors, and right front door has failed door lock actuators. The doors will not open and close automatically. Electricity goes through the doors, but the actuators are dysfunctional. The vehicle only had 41,000 miles on date of purchase, but I am not sure if previous owner left doors open or windows wind down, and it caused water damage. The inspection given by the dealership is actually deceptive as well, because this car should have failed inspection. I can not drive with the doors locked because based on the findings at the Nissan dealer, the doors may become permanently locked due to the damages of the door lock actuator and lock me inside the car. The inspector should have failed the inspection based on the damages of the vehicle. Te cost of repairs is 965. 00.
