I am having problems with my ecu malfunctioning which is causing my catalytic converter my exhaust manifold and my O2 sensors to malfunction. I'm having all the same issues as the recall campaign reference number ntb 12-040 d.
At some point on the highway the car throttles down to less than 60 mph. Mashing the gas pedal to the floor results in nothing happening. This causes a dangerous road situation with the slower speed, but the worst part is when it suddenly begins to accelerate again, potentially hitting the car in front of you unexpectedly. No mechanic can reproduce the effect as it only takes place after driving on the highway for an hour or so.
My name is michelet alcy and I can be reached at malcy0922@yahoo. Com. . . The dashboard has many cracks on it and it looks like it's melting too by the sun rays. It's very sticky when you touch it too. Vehicle tends to slow down a lot when I am driving as if I am about to get transmission problems soon. I see many people who already complained this transmission issue. My car has about 130,646 miles on it. The passenger air bag is consistently on and I hope it won't deploy on its own.
Ever since I got the car in may of 2022 I have had problems with my transmission, engine and problems with excessive oil leaking. I’ve tried to get it fixed. None of the repairs have fixed my car even with my warranty and I’m still having problems with it. I have also needed to get a valve cover replacement and many repairs to my engine. My dashboard also has difficulties working and turning on. Sometimes my brakes are faulty and require changes frequently. I also have no seatbelts in my backseat.
The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated without warning. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic. The vehicle was then towed to a different local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
I drove my car the day before it was fine. I came out to my car a 2010 Altima 3. 5 sr I had a check engine light . I precisely preceded to drive my car because I had to go to work. My car would not move over 20 mph. Car intermediately started overheated and died . I had to have it towed to a local Infiniti dealer because the car was inoperable, the problem was found that Nissan had a recall on the car but the 1st owner never fixed it. The problem was a step motor , the car had no power , now after paying 3k for a new radiator the check engine light dates back to a recall years back Nissan had. This is unsafe . I could've lost my life . I still have a lean on my vehicle it has worn control arms , and cvt issues galore if this is not fixed someone will be killed I promise you . Totaled over 8k in repairs shame on Nissan and common fuccin safety bro !!!!!! total junk and unsafe and is inoperable and still isn't paid off whooo hooo just kill us all Nissan !!!!.
My car loses power on the freeway and it is extremely dangerous. I typically drive on north dallas tollway in dfw area and the other day I had to exit because all of a sudden the car lost power after driving on freeway for 60 miles. This has been an ongoing intermittent issue since day one. I found online that Nissan is aware of the issue but refused to repair.
After buying the car in late 2019, it came to my attention that the cvt transmission was faulty. I later found that the year, model, and make of my vehicle was included in a recall of the cvt transmissions, among other saftey issues. After having the vehicle inspected by three different shops, the conclusion was made that it was indeed the cvt transmission and stepper motor causing the problems. Upon further examination, it was found that my vehicle has not had a recall replacement of the faulty parts as of yet. The car has only 96k miles on it. When the issue arises, the transmission goes into a "safe" mode. This mode creates a throttle problem as the vehicle cannot travel faster than 40 mph without a high pitch wind up sound and a cut in power of almost 50%.
Error codes through sensor warnings, I replace one sensor now another sensor error. I'm about 1000. 00 in replacing electricial issues and mechanic says the car is having electrical issues and he can't figure it out. Car won't run longer than 30 mins. Replaced crank shaft sensor and app sensor.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle started to jerk and loss of power without warning. The vehicle was towed by a independent towing company who independent mechanic was it was diagnoses that the oil consumption fractured and was leaking into the engine and the transmission needed to be replaced. No dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 127,000. Ck.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Nissan Altima hybrid. The contact stated that while driving about 40 mph, the vehicle stopped. The contact did not remember the warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the battery and the computer system needed to be replaced. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not in any recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. Fe.
Cat transmission going out.
Transmission skipping.
My car hesitates to pull out until over 20 mph I have the cvt transmission which is throwing a code I bought this car from a car lot!.
The very first issue was vehicle shut down on its own while in airport traffic. It restarted right away but cuts off immediately you put it in drive or reverse. After several attempts, the vehicle started and drove fine for a few days and the issue started again. When I took it to get checked out the problem refused to replicate. The current issue now is that the rpm jumps up and down while driving causing the engine to rev up while vehicle DE-accelerates on its own. Vehicle sometimes runs like the emergency brake is engaged. When you put it in drive or reverse it takes a few seconds to engage the gear.
Driving on i95 from gatlinburg my car started make a horrible whining noisie, shuck it's has done before just not this bad, it has before but I didn't think much of it and just stopped and let it sit and it stopped . Now it happens everyttime I get in the car. Or that I have to beg it go when it's in gear, when I pull out I'd doesn't go. I've notice if I slam it from to park forcefully to drive it seems to work fine until the whining and jerking start. I know this is a tranny issue and I I know it's warranty rorb10 yrs or 120000 miles I'm at 102! and I can't drive this car please help!!!.
Takata recall while driving on the highway in traffic the vehicle started to shutter and with no where safe to pull over continued down the road. The vehicle took so long to get up to speed I thought something terrible was going to happened. When I got to a safe place I pulled over. I turned the car off and waited. I restarted the car and decided to try again and immediately it started shuttering and no power I instantly pulled over call my husband and then called a towing service. I've read since this happened its more common and dangerous than I ever imagined. .
Cvt transmission completely gave out today on the highway and almost caused a terrible accident. My car was going 65 one minute and then lost complete power. Started searching online for more info only to find hundreds of other owners with similar complaints from all models and years from 2007 to 2016! my vehicle is included in a special warranty issued by Nissan because they are aware of this issue but it's only valid under 120k miles. Now I have no car, no money to fix this one or buy another. The unreliability has ruined my life and I don't know how I'm going to get by. Sadly, the fear of what I'm going to do with my future is only second to the fear I felt this morning when the car I've poured a lot of money into and take tremendous care of almost got me killed. No dash lights. No warning. No previous knowledge of this very serious problem. Fine one day, completely undrivable the next. I was on 83 north in MD and almost got rear ended by a semi doing 70+ mph in the left lane.
Problem: accelerating on highway and car would not switch into higher gear preventing car from going more than 20 mph on a 75 mph highway. Nissan technician diagnosed that the problem was the cvt transmission and the repairs would have been covered 100% under the warrantee extension if the car had been within the 120,000 limit. Our car was just 8% over that limit but Nissan's consumer affairs department would not help in any way. The representative said Nissan acknowledged the problem with the transmissions and doubled the warrantee but that was all they were going to do. The same problems that are causing these cvt transmissions to fail at 120,000 miles are causing them to fail at 131,000 miles in my case. Nissan should be held accountable for repairing the defective transmissions. I am not certain why a recall has not been mandated. This is a documented and acknowledged problem and it is a safety concern to lose power while driving.
When I drive it very far, it slows down and won't go faster than about 50mph. I have to pull over and let it cool off before it will go faster.
After driving for extended periods in warm weather or uphill, car begins to loose power and begins to slow down on the highway. Pressing on the gas pedal does not give more power and I need to pull over and wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour for the car to reset itself.
One day on the freeway the cars rpms wad going up and down without me pressing or taking my foot off the pedal. I was driving 75 mph. That was I noticed first. The a couple days later car was shifting hard into reverse. I went and got a transmission flush. Two days later the car wouldnt move. I put my foot on the pedal and the car wont move. My slip light and check engine light are on now. Car gave me a code of po725 engine speed sensor input circuit malfunction. I have replaced it and the car still wont move.
When driving my car on us highway 20, I was going around 45 mph. I heard a bang, the engine revved up and the car would not respond to accelerate . Was able to pull the car to the side of the road. Called for a tow. Nissan service ran a diagnostic and said a band inside of the transmission had snapped. There was no warning, and I do have my car regularly serviced at Nissan.
I am submitting a complaint regarding the cvt- back in Aug 2015 I was out of town and was traveling home and noticed while driving my vehicle all of a sudden started to decelerate. The scary part was there was an 18 wheeler behind me. No warning lights came on-I pulled over and turned off the vehicle. I was alone and scared and had 300 miles to go. What should have taken 6 hours took me 11 hours because I had stop every 30-45 minutes. I took it to a Nissan dealership and they were aware of the problem. They stated Nissan had to go through the steps before replacing the transmission- but at what cost- when someone dies- they installed a cvt oil cooler kit -well guess what ? 1 year and 3 months later on my first long distance trip since last year. The same exact thing occurred except I have 600 miles before I get home. I was stuck on the side of the road alone with the same issue. Thank god the truck behind me did not hit me or I injury someone else due to this issue Nissan continues to ignore. I had to have my car towed to a Nissan dealership in the middle of the night, could not get a rental because it was a Sunday and they were closed. So now I'm in an unknown area waiting to see what Nissan does this time.
This is a huge safety defect. I was driving on the highway, going about 65/70 mph. I had to break, due to traffic. I pressed on the gas, it went all the way to the ground, the car didn't accelerate at all. I released the gas and pressed again. . . Still the same thing. This is in the middle of very fast moving traffic. I had to put my hazards on, as the car continued to slow down. . . Then suddenly as I was releasing my foot from the gas. . . It forcefully accelerated causing me to slam on the breaks, to keep me from hitting the car in from of me. I had to carefully coast my way to the right side of the road, as I was in the fast lane closest to the median. It still wouldn't completely accelerate, it kind of scooted over the side of the road. I turned the car off, waited for about 2 minutes and attempted to start the car and it would not start. After about 3 tries it started, and I could drive the car back to my house, and the car continued to replicate the same issue. I haven't driven the car since. It's sitting in my driveway. I'm afraid to drive it, and at the present moment, don't have the means to get it towed anywhere to be looked at. It's such a shame that as soon as you pay a car off, and you are no longer covered under the warranty, that you start to have major problems. I bought a Nissan, because they were known for their longevity. . . . I will never buy Nissan again. I look on the sites to see if there is a recall for this issue, and have not found one. Please someone help me. I'm a single mom, with two kids. One in high school and the other in college. I can't afford another car note.
Car was in motion and it started to jerking and quit on the highway. It will run but when you take off it starts jerking again and might smooth out for a second and then quits again.
The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Altima. While stationary, the vehicle failed to switch out of park without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to be moved after being restarted several times. In addition, the door locks failed to engage until the vehicle reached 15 mph. The contact also stated that the key fob activated by itself on numerous occasions and caused the doors to unlock and the power windows to roll down without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
My car was only 30,000 km when this started to happen. As my car warms up my acceleration will decrease. Nissan has known about this issue for a few years and has been avoiding to put a recall in place and instead started off with only a extended warranty due to an excessive amount of complaints regarding to their cvt problems on the Altima coupe. I have known a few senior mechanics at the Nissan dealership and been told that they are investgating about the problem and they already know it's a faulty problem and they are trying to avoid. I had a Nissan dealership try to scare me away when I tried to talk about warranty. Just cause I had a few minor modification they said my warranty is most likely voided but they are able to check. They were ridiculously trying to convice me that with just aftermarket wheels my warranty will void my transmission problem. I know in the us there is currently a law that does not allow car company to void warranty unless the cause of the problem directly relate to the modification. The judge mention and stated that car company offers warranty to help product consumers and not suppose to get screw over for it. This is completely absurd of what Nissan is doing. This has been a huge concern to me due to safety issue. My vehicle is currently only at 44,000 km. A few Altima coupe owner has brought to my attention. O have a faulty transmission is a very serious concern during highway driving to my family and I. A Altima coupe forum member recently had a faulty tranny and was involved a huge accident due to unexpected decrease in acceleration on the highway. I this is a serious problem that is a life or death situation.
Nissan is aware of the problems with the cvt transmission. Nissan extended the cvt warranty to 120,000 however failed to notify the the consumer. My vehicle started whinning, heating up, went into fail safe mode and without any warning lights it slowed down my vehicle to a complete stop putting my life in danger while driving in traffic around blind corners. It's a safety and serious concern due to faulty transmission. Nissan corporation admitted there is a problem by extending the warranty but refuse to recall the cvt transmission. I contacted Nissan public affairs and was told it was not in their policy to notify the consumer of extended warranty. I had purchased the extended warranty to 100,000 in good faith yet Nissan failed to contact me to notify me of this issue. I have documents to prove that I took my vehicle for these symptoms before the 120,000 yet Nissan will not honor the proofs because they said I failed to take it to a Nissan certified dealership. I was over the 100,000 miles therefore, I couldn't afford to take it the dealership. It wasn't until I started doing research I realized there were a lot of consumers dealing with the same issues I was having. It 's unnacceptable that Nissan will get away with not recalling this faulty cvt tranmission. Nissan advised me to take my vehicle to a certified dealership to have it diagnosed. Jim click Nissan in tucson, az found the codes Nissan was looking for and charged me $731. 00 to install a transmission oil cooler which would solve the symptoms. I contacted Nissan once again and they refused to cover the cost, they told me I was out of the 120,000 miles and basically out of luck. I am out $731. 00 and my vehicle is still having the same sympthoms I was having before. Nissan needs to be held accountable and make the cvt transmission safe. No one's life should have to pay this price! thanks. Julian & maribel perez.
I have already drafted a more detailed document reflecting all the details experienced with my issue in regards to part: transmission cooler, part #21606-zx59a; Nissan Altima 2010. Nissan is aware of this issue. They have explained that this part is an accessory and that the car can be driven for short periods of time, then letting the car "cool down". I recently drove from upper marlboro MD en route to riverview(1,000 miles), FL. When getting to richmond, va(300 miles) my rpm's jumped from 2,000 to 5,000. I began to decelerate, and the car would not go faster when the accelerator was applied. The car was taken to a Nissan 4 miles away from where I broke down. The car was diagnosed by Nissan. The part needed is on national back order. Customer care/Nissan advises that the car is drive-able, but for not long periods of time. More importantly, this car was designed without this part. To this date, my car is at Nissan in chester, va awaiting the part on a 4 week back order to be repaired. I will not jeopardize my life by driving a malfunctioning car. This is a known issue with Nissan and this vehicle, but there is no action to fix this issue before someone like myself or someone else gets into a god forbidden devastating accident. Please do not let this major corporation inflict damage on the public! we trust in you to be our protector!!!.
I purchased a 2010 Nissan Altima about three years ago. The first problem started with the car failing to start. That problem still happens to this day. The next problem is my car will not accelerate at times. I have had several incident when I am at a stop light, intersection, or redlight where I apply the gas all the way to the foor and the car will not move. I put the car in reverse and it still would not move. After waiting about 20 second and apply the gas it finally goes and drive normal. Me and my kids whre almost in a serious accident when the car stalled in front of a big mack truck. Now after thi s has been going on for a couple of months, my car sits in my front yard unabe to move at all and now theres a burning smell coming from the car. These cars are a death trap and I refuse to keep putting my life and my children lives in danger. The government needs to do something!!!.
After, driving for about 2hrs, traffic came to a complete stop and was stop and go for an hour. Once traffic finally went back to normal, my car would not accelerate, the gas pedal was pressed all the way to the floor, but would not pick up speed. I got off on the nearest exit, pulled into a vacant lot to let the car cool down,5minutes later the car was back to normal.
I need to drive from MD to GA every couple of month. I noticed that if I drive my car continuously for a couple of hours (about 3 or 4 hours), the car won't accelerate from a stop for at least couple of seconds. I have floored the gas paddle, but the engine was like 2000 rpm. The car barely moves. It then become normal after about 3 seconds. Because of this, I was almost involved in accidents several times when I was trying to pull from a traffic light. I went to a Nissan dealer to check what is the problem. But the dealer (norris Nissan west near baltimore) told me they could not repeat the problem so they will not do anything. I thought this is potentially dangerous for drivers like me and the dealer's action is irresponsible and unacceptable. Now I am afraid of driving my car for relatively long trips now.
The car seems to be sending a signal to "shift" even though I am going a steady speed and there is no need to shift. This creates a "jerking" motion. I've noticed this problem occurring consistently at 60 mph but also at 65, 70, and 75 mph. Sometimes even at 45 mph. The more "warmed up" the car is, the stronger the jerking motion and the more frequently this issue occurs.
After purchasing this used 2010 Nissan Altima from a local dealer in 2012, my husband and I were driving part of a girl's soccer team to redding, CA. The car performed well on the highway, but when we reached redding from our home town approximately 1 1/2 hours away, the car suddenly stalled at a slow speed. It limped to a parking lot, where we were unable to start it for about 1 1/2 hours. Since then, it has intermittently stalled, usually in very high temperatures, after driving highway speeds for an hour or two. We took it to the dealer after the first incident but were told that they couldn't ascertain the problem. We have taken it to a trusted transmission mechanic, and our own mechanic, who cannot find a problem. I reported it to the national highway transportation safety people over a year ago, but have not been contacted by them nor have I seen any attempt by them to address this problem, although many attest to it.
