general problems of the 2013 Nissan Altima - part 2

I bought my car in April 2016 I've had nothing but issues it chugs all the time on highway/city/county roads, and while turning left and right with cruze set or not. Every time I get in my car and try to shift it down from park it don't always shift or if I try shifting up it's like it sticks it has been fixed once already, when the heated seats are on low or high setting if left on longer than 5 minuets it gets burning hot. The steering wheel is also super loose my car has 82,000 miles on it I've had it for a year and a half and I've had so many issues including the air conditioning marquart motors out of chippewa falls WI refuses to return my calls (I bought the car from them they are useless and unhelpful ) I have a extended warranty as well so most repairs are covered thank god but won't be for long. It's very frustrating that I paid 23,000 for a car that has so many issues I really just wish I could give it back so scared to have my children in it and I shouldn't have to feel that way. Alsothere are 3 or four recalls and I can't seem to ever get it in for repair because our Nissan dealer is always so booked or don't have the parts to fix it till days or weeks later.

I have taking to the Nissan dealer, the shift gear will not move or switch gear do to the problem with the solenoid, is not connecting, I hear is a recall but the dealer will not fix it, because by the time I have this problem my car was over 60,000 miles. It will cost me over $800 out of my packet. I been back and fort driving with them and refused to work with me unless I paid full amount, I know that is in fact a big problem with the shift lock and many other people have the same problem as my car. Every time I start my car I need to used a pin or small screw driver to push down the emergency shift release.

I have already taken this vehicle back numerous times to the dealership for the same recalls and the notification / emergency lights still come on. This happens when driving at a stop light or when I turn the car on.

I have been having an issue with the gear lock not allowing me to get out of park. I have push to start and my car starts with no problems. This has happened more than once and the only way to get the gears to move is by pushing down the gear release lock. I do it have a video but there are complaints of thi and videos on youtube!.

Brakes make squeaky noise all the time. Passanger airbag sign does not show even if someone is sitting.

Hi I took my vehicle for regular inspection and have reported a problem with the passenger side wheels making noise. Also reporting car drift side ways while at high speeds. With initial analysis from Nissan service center have mentioned that there is some issue with shifting of a spring on the on the track rods. I raised this to my extended warranty service provider. And they have mentioned that it has to be done under TSB and will not undertake the repair. Hence I am submitting this incident report you you so investigate if it actually falls under TSB or not. And if it is then how I can get it fixed under TSB norms.

I own a 2013 Altima sv purchased brand new, April 2013 and I am having serious steering issues when driving over 60-65mph, car feels like it is wandering all over the road, I constantly feel like I have to correct the steering, very unsafe feeling and wears you out, one coplaint I read mentioned that its like driving on ice, great analogy unfortunately it really does!! my husband travels and drives a great deal as part of his job and he drives everywhere, he stated that he even feels uncomfortable driving at higher speeds in this car also and he drives all kinds of cars. I have actually started taking alternate routes to avoid driving on the highway at these higher speeds, which is completely ludicrous, it's only a 3 year old car with less than 40,000 miles on it and purchased brand new by me and I should feel safe in it, and at the higher speeds, I do not feel safe in it!!! I have read lots of reviews and complaints about this, so obviously Nissan has got to know about this, all you have to do is search on the internet and you will find there are tons of complaints. . . So, when is something going to be done about this. ??? Nissan needs to step up and issue a recall because something very clearly is not right with the steering as evidenced by many complaints,,we can't all be making this up!!!! at lower speeds it is fine, I don't have the problem until I hit about 60-65 and no, I will not get used to it, as Nissan likes to tell their customers! we even put brand new bridgestone turanza tires on it thinking maybe that was the problem but it is still doing it. . But what good is that when it still feels unsafe??? I used to love my Nissans, I also have a 2001 maxima bought brand new that my son now drives , great car and now this Altima, but I would definitely not buy another Nissan if this issue isn't resolved!!.

My 2013 Nissan ultima driving on that highway stop and when off 20 sec later starts took it to the dealer they say I need a new transmission I only have 61,000 miles and they have a lot of complaints from different people they want me to pay almost $5000 but I did not get fixed.

Note: this car was purchased used with about 30,000 miles on it. When driving at highway speeds, both hands on the wheel, going straight, unexpectedly and without warning the car starts to wander and veer off to the other lane. It is much worse if it is a windy day. You have to be ready immediately to make a steering correction or you run the risk of getting into and accident. On the Nissan forum, many 2013 Altima owners are complaining about this steering and suspension defect. Nissan has not addressed this safety issue but has known about it and has fixed it on the 2016 models. Why haven't they issued a bulletin with a fix or recalled these year model Altimas that are affected?.

I was driving to work at approximately 5:30 am and took exit 10b off of i85 north. Went to reach down to get my coffee and hit the grass which in turn slung me into the guard rail. This is not the first time this has happened. This wreck done 10,000 dollars of damage to my car. The steering is very touchy. This has happened several times. My air bag light on the passenger side does not work either. I have taken this car in because it does act right when you accelerate but I was told there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. I have also took it in for a leak and they told my it wasn't leaking it was a 2013 and it was to new. But there is a spot in my driveway and I am the only one that parks there.

I have been to the dealer several times with the complaint of the car constantly drifting left and right and not being able to control the handling of the vehicle. It often feels like you are driving on three wheels and the stability shifts. I do not feel safe driving the car as I don't have full control ,nor do I like having my son in the vehicle and try to avoid freeways but it pretty much drifts at all speeds. I have spoken to the service manager, service director, and regional manager at Nissan north America but they claim to not be able to reproduce the issue. However, every time I get in it I feel vibrations and experience weird whining noises as well as the drifting and bouncing all over the roads. I have also experienced where I'm trying to slow down and it seems like the car speeds up and when trying to speed up the car is sluggish. Nissan really needs to take ownership to fix the issue before someone loses their life!! this is ridiculous to have to deal with these issues for a newer car that people are still paying for!!.

Shacking and unable to control and no one till this day??? why ? I'm sorry but Dodge Chrysler nor any dealer ship has my air bag and 98% of parts in stock. . . So now what??? I spent a lot of much $$$$. . .

Vehicle vibrates up through steering wheel at 2,000 rpm regardless of speed. Nissan dealer and Nissan USA, inc. Have come to the conclusion that this is a "characteristic" of the vehicle and that they do not intend to repair or address in any manner. This is despite comments by the technician at middletown Nissan of middletown, CT that he's never seen a Nissan Altima exhibit this much vibration before. I've stated that neither I or my wife feel safe in the car and are now concerned that a component of the vehicle could vibrate loose.

I purchased a 2013 Nissan Altima s from carmax on 10/5/14. The car was suppose to be a birthday present to myself seeing as though I had not purchased a car in 12 years. I was very excited, but shortly after purchasing the Altima, I started to hear squealing coming from the brakes, and also roaring and rumbling which started in the front of the car, and proceeded to the center. I also complained about the car locking up and driving sluggish, and then releasing once the rumbling briefly stopped. I am also hearing an annoying whining sound coming from the right side of the vehicle. When I took the car back to carmax, they told me the roaring was coming from my windshield washer compartment that was loose, and that my brakes were fixed. Needless to say, I left and drove around the corner, and the squealing brakes and roaring came back. I took the car to a Nissan dealership in my area, and after telling them about the roaring and the whining, the service manager told me that he's quite familiar with the sound, and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. He stated that the whining sound is coming from the power steering and the roaring is coming from the way I am driving the vehicle. How dare he! I only had the vehicle for a month before I took it to the Nissan dealership. He would not even try to look into the list of issues I requested to be fixed. The Nissan manager told me to go back to carmax or I would have to pay for the brakes to be fixed, and even charged me to rotate my tires. I left paying him for a service that I did not originally come in for. I went back to carmax and they finally fixed my brakes, but still could not find anything wrong that would cause the extremely annoying roaring and whining noises. This has been a nightmare, and I am thinking about taking legal action.

When I test drove and purchased my vehicle, everything seemed great. It was a very short test drive though. Not even 1month after buying the car, I have problems with it. I noticed the suspension and steering to be not as tight or responsive (diminished) and also notice a lot of wander in the font end and understeer/oversteer. Along with the suspension and steering problems came the transmission shutter. At lower speed acceleration (approx. 25-40mph), there is a shutter or jumpy feeling. Took the car to Nissan multiple times to fix the problem and has yet to be done. My service tech has been able to duplicate all the problems, but Nissan tech line refuses to fix anything because "it is up to Nissan standards". In order for them to even begin to replace or work on anything, it has to meet certain circumstances (basically jump through hoops), even though it is a known problem with the car and has been duplicated by one of their own techs. I have contacted the bbb and have started arbitration to get this matter resolved. This entire ordeal has cost me time off work and about a total of 4weeks without my car.

My Altima acts as if the alignment is out. At all speeds it drifts and I usually drive 55-70 on the highway and it will drift to the extreme right and left. I have to continue to steer left and right to keep it in between the lines of the direction I am traveling. If there is any wind I have to drive holding the wheel with both hands to keep it in my lane. I had a gust of wind cause my vehicle to travel in the oncoming lane because of the drift. This vehicle is a danger and life threatening to my family and me. I have taken it to firestone for alignments and to landers mcclarty Nissan of huntsville alabama and it remains a danger to my family. Alignments did not fix anything.

On highway and city street in motion the vehicle wander constantly on right or left of the lane making it very hard and very unsafe to drive. Driving during wind condition make the problem even worst. I believe that a component of the steering might be at fault Nissan dealer says it's normal. . .

When driving between 2 to 25 mph hear loud high pitch whining sound from engine. This started after about 200 miles on vehicle. Vehicle had 51 miles on it when purchased. Dealer said this is normal it is the electric power assist system. The whining noise is very disturbing and distracting while driving. Such noise is not normal. Nissan needs to come up with a fix. Just purchased from dealer on 9/13/2013.

My car wonders at highway speeds. It requires constant and is very dangerous. I have my alignment checked at every 5000 miles. There are so many complaints about the Altima's drifting at highway speeds. During windy conditions it can drift into other lanes. I complained before and was told to take the car to the dealer and I did. They said it is normal.

My family and I were heading down a major highway into a metro area for the evening and the power steering went out nearly causing me to hit a wall on an exit ramp. This is only one of several issues I have had with the vehicle, this one being the most serious. I will be seeking to return the vehicle for full refund as I do not believe this car is safe. Please push Nissan to resolve the issues.

Woke up yesterday to a weak battery no start steering wont lock. So it has to be towed cvt transmission went out already ,it was replaced ,air bag for [passenger} sometimes works its the 2nd new car I ever owned and im 54 years old im so disappointed at this car it must have been built on a Friday.

Car lost the control when I speed over 60 mile per hour. Feeling like losing control. I have to hold the steering with two hands. Difficult to stay in the lane. Feel like driving in windy condition.

At highway speeds the car is difficult to control - very poor handling. A lot of sway in the steering and suspension. Car constantly drifts side to side at highway speeds requiring continuous steering correction. Not a mechanical or electrical malfunction, just poor handling.

I leased this vehicle 3/29/13. A couple weeks in it began making a loud whining noise. Dealership said it is "normal for electric power steering systems". It's not. There is not another line out there, foreign or domestic, that does it. It has been through the shop 4 times now for this issue. Currently I have a formal complaint filed with Nissan and am filing a lemon law claim. If they cannot determine the issue how can they determine that it is safe??? vehicle seems to handle "loosely" at higher speeds also. It also randomly has issues on startup and my gas mileage seems to get worse as time goes by. Not to mention now that it's known in the market about this issue the value on my car has drastically decreased.

I love the fact that my car has the heated steering wheel and for paying so much for this vehicle to have this wonderful feature you would expect it to work. Well it did for the first month, but I used it alot, usually on highway trips when it would cut off I would turn it back on, then about a month after that I noticed it was only getting warm at the top of the steering wheel and not the rest. Then a little later it doesn't even get warm anymore. I have taken it to service at ltleast 2 different times, and they just tell me that it is normal. But in the armada, and maxima they loaned me while my car was in the shop those seemed to work fine. Their answer to that is that in the Altima it reads the temperature inside the car to determine how hot it gets. This is not the problem because in March of 2013 here in northern va we had a big snowfall. I went to my car at 3:40 am the day of the snowfall, and started it. It was about 28 degrees outside, and the inside of the car felt the same. I turn on the heated steering it I never felt it the entire 30 miles I drove. To me it feels like the electricity is not getting to any or all of the heating element. Nissan says to take it to another dealership, but all the dealers around me are owned and managed by the same.

This vehicle wanders left and right, especially at highway speeds. It feels like you are driving in breezy conditions, even when there is no wind at all. The effect is amplified on concrete highways with light drainage grooves. When the road is wet, it feels very unstable. It is difficult to keep the car going on a straight course, with constant steering corrections needed. The vehicle is also very sensitive to slight crosswinds or passing vehicles which send the car off its course. The dealer said it was caused by the tires but I know this is not true because I have a 2013 Honda odyssey that has the same contiprocontact tires and it drives like a dream.

I first noticed it driving the car home from the dealership. I felt as though the front tires were moving in different directions at the same time and there is a metallic sound in the front end (can only hear when your next to barriers or bridges on the highway). The car drift is so bad I feel I will be pulled over for dui!!!! I was planning a trip that week to texas with my grandchildren and I had already had an issue with the airbag light being on so I took the car back to the dealer to look at it, they couldn't get me in!!! I made my trip anyway and it was the scariest most dangerous trip I have ever made!!!! I was all over the highway on any straightaway, the slightest wind or another vehicle passing me would send me into the other lane. I finally was able to get the car into the dealer and advised them to take the car on the highway and listen for the noise as well at overpasses (when you have noise coming back at you) the rep came out and said that his tech could not find any thing wrong with the car and that it drives like all other Altima's! this is not true!! and they said they never heard the noise, which I find very very hard to believe because I hear it all the time! the driverside front-end sounds like a 10 year old car when it hits a bump in the road or parking lot, like its shocks or something are bad. . . I am soooo disappointed in Nissan and with the Altima completely, what is the use having a beautiful car when it is a danger on the highway!!!!!!!!!! I will post on all websites about this car! it is dangerous!!!.

2013 Nissan Altima has a very annoying whining/whistling noise. Dealer said they heard noise and checked other cars on lot and they had same noise, this is normal. I've seen others complaining of noise and some seem to be getting resolution. Took car back to dealer and complained again. Told once again this is normal. Noise is very annoying and for the money spent on new car expect better results. Nissan needs to fix this.

There is a shuttering vibration in drive train when engine is at 1500 rpm and going up an incline. Eventually it is going to cause loosing of bolts and cause crash.
