I own a Nissan Altima 2014 sv 4 cylinder. While driving the car stops moving and it just relies on momentum, the gas pedal stops functioning. This has happened to me multiple times I then have to turn off the car and turn it back on so it can work and it does the same thing again. I stepped on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it doesn't respond. I started doing research and I ran into this website where people are suffering from the same problem and it has put my life and multiple people's lives in danger. These cars all range in year but the make and model is the same, Nissan Altima. I saw some posts that stated that they had the same problem with very low mileage on their vehicles. I took it to the dealership they weren't able to fix it and they gave it to me back malfunctioning and with the same safety issue and the check engine light on. I would kindly ask that this department gets involved immediately. The dealership wanted me to pay a diagnostic and refused to check the car unless I purchased new battery car terminals. I ended paying for a service I didn't need to get a car that was still malfunctioning. I refused to pay for the diagnostic after a 20 minute discussion they decided not to charge me but I had to fight for the fee to be waived. The problem is the car is still undrive-able. Here are other stories from other people with the same exact issue. . Read more...
While driving the car will suddenly jerk and starts to shake and when pressing the gas the car will not accelerate so I have had to turn on emergency lights to not get hit in the back the rpm goes up but not the mph.
When the car is at a complete stop and the light turns green and it’s time to go it has a small delay for about 4-6 seconds where the car won’t move. It picks up after those 4-6 seconds. Once you turn off the car it resets itself but later on through the day it happens again . It happens to me about 2 times a day. It’s extremely scary when you’re in traffic and your car just sits there because you can’t go.
Transmission felt as if it was slipping into different gears while driving forward. Pulled vehicle over put it in park and then put it in reverse- at that time the vehicle went forward instead of reverse. At that time the vehicle was put into park and turned off. Waited a few minutes and then turned vehicle back on, put it into drive and it took 10 sec to drive forward I then put the vehicle in reverse and the same thing happened, it took 10 seconds to move in reverse. Took the vehicle in and the repair man said it was the cvt- I have 93k miles on the car. It has been in storage since July 2020.
I brought a 2014 Altima from a dealership in 2018. I notice weeks after I purchased the car that it would not accelerate properly and even stall out while in motion on the highway or trying to accelerate at a traffic light. I had a new transmission put in. Now a little over a year later the same thing is happening again. The mechanic says that its the same problem due to a faulty transmission part(cvt) transmission. This should be recall due to numerous complaints I have seen and mostly the danger it is causing for Nissan customers. This is a hazardous and costly issue. Nissan should rectify this immediately.
The dying in the streets and no power to go back or front dying on stop light start o 05/10/2020 no lights on panel is on.
I purchased my 2014 Nissan Altima with only 6 miles on it in 2014. I only drove my car from school to home, as this was my work vehicle. I finished paying for my Nissan in November of 2019. My Nissan recently reached 90,000 miles and began to shut down in the middle of traffic. The engine began to jerk and it would not move it were placed in drive or reverse. Then at times when placed in drive the engine would shake and roar loudly, and shut off. My dad had to come and tow the car in twice due to it not shutting down on the interstate and in traffic. The Nissan would just stop accelerating and lose power. If it cranked back up at stop lights or stop signs it would accelerate so slowly that I would get caught under red lights or in the middle of on-coming traffic. It would slowly pick up speed with the accelerated pressed all the way to the floor, but there would be a burning smell that the car will give off and it sounds like the engine is in the wrong gear, while in drive.
Pulled into a handicap parking place, all of a sudden the car accelerated forward at a high speed. Knocking down the handicap sign and went through a store glass window. We sat there in shock not nothing what just happened. The police arrived and a said it must have been the gas pedal, they assume since I was a older person that I had stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake. I know I had my foot on the brake. I feel this is differently a recall problem. Nissan has had this problem since 2000 and no one has done anything about it. I have lost my license and my insurance over this. Please take this matter seriously! what if this was a school crosswalk and children were going across. I worked in the hospital for 47 years now it's time for me to travel and enjoy my retirement. I can't even go to the doctors or grocery stores. Please save our children and our community. The vehicle was in park at the time this happed.

1. ) the engine light turns on and then turns off after a few days. 2. ) when I am about to go when the light turns green, my car doesn't take off when I hit the gas pedal. This incident cause my car to be very slow into on going traffic which can cause an accident especially when I am turning to the right or left. It happens very frequent during my daily drives.
Acceleration issues. Sporadically the car will do nothing when we step on the accelerator. It is dangerous because it happens randomly and we essentially have zero power to move. After holding the accelerator down for a number of seconds the car will then abnormally start to accelerate and rev up on rpms but will not accelerate as normal. It's as if the transmission is thoroughly confused. I continued to drive the car and it could never get over 60 mph regardless of how far I stepped on the accelerator. I have video of the behavior. The issue continues at random times and we feel incredibly unsafe when we are in traffic because the car will idle forward but do nothing even when accerator is depressed. I took it to the dealer with video of the vehicles crazy behavior; they have told me that the computer says nothing is wrong with it. They tell me to continue to drive until it gets worse. This is not acceptable because we are at risk of an accident when you try to accelerate but the car does nothing but idle forward; it catches us off guard and we are concerned about idling into on coming traffic when making turns. I have contacted Nissan who said they have no interest in watching the video and that the computer indicates nothing wrong with my car. We are incredibly worried about driving this car and feel Nissan is covering up an issue. It was admitted to me by the dealer that this is a common problem with many of their cvts; it is evident in consumer information on the internet as well. I get the impression Nissan has no interest in the safety of the community; starting with the fact that neither the dealer nor consumer affairs has interest in watching the videos showing the very serious issue. I can provide video to NHTSA upon request. Thank you.

Starts car in parking lot and drives to the parking attendant booth without issue puts car in park to pay while trying to pay, hears loud grinding sound. Asks attendant if he hears the sound. Attendant says yes" asks attendant if she's possibly on the curb or stuck on something. Attendant says no" and raises gate. Presses brake pedal and moves the transmission selector to drive removes foot from the brake pedal, the car launches aggressively and accelerates uncontrollably. Car's speed increases. Repeatedly presses brakes but forward progress is barely slowed. Continues pressing brakes as car strikes a sign, hotel lighting, and crashes into a tree; stopping car's forward progress. Engine continues to accelerate; spinning front tires into the ground. Responders open the driver's door and extract driver. Wheels continue to spin. Wheels spin until one responder is able to cut off the car.
I experienced a grinding, shaking noise at 2. 0 rpm. The vehicle was taken in for service and I was informed that the transmission had to be replaced. The transmission was replaced and that was when all of my troubles began. The vehicle would hesitate and jerk while driving at low speeds. There was now a vibration at 1. 5 rpm. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and was advised that a belt was loose. The vehicle was returned to me and it still was not driving smoothly and now the entire gear console was loose. The vehicle would not move from either drive or reverse upon starting, even when the gear shift was moved. It would take two tries each time to get the car to move from park. The vehicle went back into the dealership where the gear console was adjusted. However, the dealership could not replicate the issue - vehicle not moving when gear placed in reverse or drive. This weekend (4/30/16) I drove the vehicle in virginia and had to navigate several high elevations while on the I-81 highway. The car was sluggish at best, dragging and the gears would not change. The car was racing loudly trying to keep up with the speed, rpm was up at 3. 5 and the car was at 50 mles; speed limit was 70. Once I cleared the hill the rpms leveled out to 1. 5 and the car held the 70 mph speed. Note the vehicle was not performing this way before the "new transmission" was installed. I did have the grinding and racing noise at 2. 0 rpm, but no hesitation, jerking or any difficulties in higher elevations. That leads me to conclude that there is something else wrong with this vehicle other than the transmission. I have also lodged a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs whom I am awaiting a response from on my complaint. The vehicle now has 18,694 miles and was purchased in August of 2014.

Transmission fails on the highway this is the second time for a brand new car. I had my child in the car this time. The vehicle suddenly loses power . The first time it occurred was @ 3000 miles . The second time is at 13000 miles. The biggest risk is being rear ended by the vehicle behind due to the sudden loss of power and Nissan knows their cvt for Altima and rogue 2014 is an issue, no move from manufacturer to replace the car or recall all cars in question.

I purchased a brand new 2014 Nissan Altima s on 7/20/14. On 9/17/14 my cel began flashing, car shaking & losing power as I was driving on the freeway (which is under construction with no shoulders to pull over on). Brought car to service department and they tried to first tell me they couldn't find any issue. I forced them to continue testing & it happened again & they were able to pull 2 error codes (misfire & multiple misfire). After a week of driving my car and testing, they could not figure out how to fix it. I opened a case at that time to request a buy back or replacement of this vehicle as it is clear that something was done wrong on the assembly line & safety of vehicle has been compromised. On 9/26/14, the dealership called and told me to pick up my car as they "think they fixed the problem. " I picked up the car, drove 5 miles & issues happened again & I noticed it was consuming large amounts of gasoline. Brought it back to dealership & told them that it was not fixed & it is not safe to drive this vehicle. On 9/29/14, Nissan corporate sent an engineer to pick up my car to test the issues & after driving it, the engineer said that all 4 coils needed to be changed. Coils were swapped out & I picked up the car 10/2/14 against my will. Full tank when I picked up the car stating I'd receive 540 miles (normal for an Altima) & 2 days later, it dropped all of a sudden by 100 miles for no reason. I only received 400 miles to full tank & the majority of my driving is highway miles. It is still consuming gasoline & is idling rougher. I am now 3 weeks in, 2 separate issues & my car still is not working. If my car has issues 52 days in and only 3k miles, I can only imagine what else is going to happen. I commute and drive with small children & it is not safe. It is clear that there is something wrong with my car.
I purchased a brand new 2014 Nissan Altima sv from baker Nissan north in houston, texas (19630 northwest fwy, houston, TX 77065 (281) 890-5656). My transmission has failed twice (replaced the first time and now having to be replaced again) and I have been getting the run around from the dealership. This issue should not be occurring with a brand new vehicle. Then to top it off I have been a loyal customer and have purchased a total of four cars from this dealership now. I filed a consumer affairs report with Nissan corporation and have yet to hear something. I also called the dealership again to speak with someone in charge such as the general manager and they informed me to contact the consumers affairs department with Nissan corporation. They said they have a chain of command to follow and that would be my best bet of getting the situation resolved. I would like this situation to be investigated and justice. I do not spend my hard earned money to have a car that is not operating properly and could put my life and others in danger. It comes down to the fact that this car is a lemon and I should be given brand new transportation or the dealership should purchase the car and pay off the loan and let me take my business elsewhere. I also have copies of my maintenance records for documentation purposes. Thank you in advance for your time and effort. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
When im in traffic and try to speed up the car doesn't change gears. Ive taken it to the dealer four times and they do nothing about it. It has happened two times within the last three days, which is more frequently than before. I have had this problem since I bought the car. When I stop the car completely, lets say at a red light, then press the gas it takes a few seconds for the car to even start moving.
