general problems of the 2016 Nissan Altima

I have a 2016 Nissan Altima 3. 5 sr I brought into the Nissan dealership multiple times since 2022 now in 2025 at 100,000 miles to transmission is not working it's dying at intersections and oil is pouring out of the engine I was told that there was a recall that expired in April of 2023 however I was never notified about the recall despite taking my car to the Nissan dealership prior to that date no one ever said that there was a problem with the cvt I've stored my car multiple years because I'm a veteran and I had to deploy so it wasn't driven as much and now that's crossed 100,000 miles it's on its last leg this isn't fair the 2019 models are getting recalled they should fix mine I've taken care of this car and now they're trying to deny me my mobility I'm a retiree I don't have that much money the last time I took it to the dealership they said I needed a new engine never once mentioning that there were previous recalls on this vehicle. I need help.

Delayed gear change from 1st to 2nd/delayed acceleration 1-5 seconds mid-traffic because the car overheats soon after driving which causes the car to not properly accelerate causing more rpms than necessary during longer drives with frequent stops (within urban/suburban areas).

After the car warms up it will not accelerate like it should. I was stopped at a light - when I went to turn left at the light my car would not accelerate. It slowly rolled out into oncoming traffic. Like it was in limp mode or something. Then at the last minute the car jolted forward like I had the gas pedal fully depressed. Very scary and unsafe. I’ve had this happen many times. I’ve taken it in but haven’t found a solution.

After driving the vehicle for about an hour, when coming to a stop, the vehicle will not accelerate. Stepping in the acceleration pedal does nothing. No rpm increase, nothing. After 10 seconds the vehicle suddenly takes off. After angry drivers honk. The rpms rev up and will not decrease to normal. I am limited to 25 mph with very high rpms. Same thing repeats after every stop. The problem goes away intermittently after restarting the car. I've almost died trying to make turns in front of oncoming traffic when it will not accelerate.

When I am stopped at a light or in stop and go traffic my car will not accelerate when I put my foot on the gas pedal. I can push it all the way to the floor and my car will not move. It takes about 10 seconds or so then my car will jolt quickly and finally go. I have also had issues with the rpm's shooting up while I am driving at a low rate of speed. This has happened maybe 3 times and I have to pull over and turn my vehicle off then turn it back on and then it seems to drive normally. This issue started several months ago and at first it was just occasionally. Now it is more frequent and happens anytime I am driving. If I turn my car off then turn it back on it seems to correct the issue briefly. I have found myself while stopped in traffic just turning my car off then back on because I am in fear of it happening. This is dangerous as I am at risk of getting hit when I am making a turn at an intersection if my car will not move. I have looked online and it seems other people with Altimas the same year have also experienced similar problems. I have not had the vehicle inspected. There are no warning lights that have come on in the vehicle indicating there is a problem.

I was involved in a collision where my 2016 Nissan Altima sustained rear end damage, began smoking and burst into flames.

Since June of 2022, my car has been in service repair a total of 10 times. Each time my check engine comes on, the diagnostic codes always involve the a/f sensor. This started at 35,000 miles and Nissan cannot figure out the issue. There are several bulletins addressing the issue, with the most recent being 2022. The service dealership will no longer work on my car surrounding the issue. As a result of having a sensor issue that cannot be repaired, the car will periodically not respond with acceleration. I have had two very close calls of making a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic with the gas pedal suddenly not responding no matter how hard it’s pressed. It’s almost as if it goes into neutral. The rpm’s increase and the engine revs, but it just won’t move. After several seconds of remaining motionless, the car then suddenly accelerates to the speed that it should. This issue is not an outlier. I contacted several people that listed their cars for sale, that stated their check engine light is on due to an 02 sensor. They all stated they have tried to get the car repaired with zero success. People then just sell the car and transfer the issue to another person. If it hasn’t already, this issue is going to kill someone. My car stalled in front of two cars coming towards me at 50 mph. Had they not stopped in time, I would have been t-boned on the drivers side. That wouldn’t have ended well. Nissan suggested I sell the car- that is their solution regarding a car that became unrepairable at 35,000 miles. Nissan did send an engineer to the dealership to inspect the car- multiple times. They do not know how to fix the issue.

Car will not accelerate or moved after stopping at red light. . Even after pressing the pedal all the way to the floor. . Very dangerous situation. . Some one is going to get hurt or kill. . . Nissan needs to recall because almost every Nissan Altima experience the same problem. . Very scary and dangerous situation it happens every day now. . Car will not move at all or sometimes very slow. . Please help. . Dealers are no help at all.

Vehicle will delay acceleration when I have stopped at a stop sign or stop light. When I press the gas pedal it will delay acceleration for a couple of seconds and then final take off. It doesn't happen often and I find that if I turn the engine off and wait a few minutes and start it again, it goes away for several days but does return.

I believe the failure that I'm experiencing is with the vehicle's transmission. The car stalls or refuses to shift gears, has trouble accelerating, and when the car is trying to accelerating the car makes an unfamiliar noise which is quiet loud and noticeable and sometimes shake or full on just pushes forward randomly. I believe the safety for mine and others can be at risk at times because they would be times where the car will not accelerate, even when your foot is pushed all the way on the pedal and as a result the car begins to slow down. This is can be risk depending on where you're driving for an example if you're on the highway or a congested area going at a specified speed. From my understanding after doing research I have found out that several others have been experiencing this same problem, so to my understanding this is a common issue and I'm not sure why it was never addressed. I have taken the car to a mechanic where they said the problem is the cvt transmission. The check engine light is on. This vehicle has not been in an accident.

The fuel tank was supposedly punctured and had a fuel leak. This according to the mechanics, never happens and sounds oddly like the recall this vehicle had in 2015/2016. I’ve checked my VIN and says no recalls, but my entire fuel tank needs replacing now.

The vehicle will randomly stop accelerating while driving. Also will have a delayed acceleration randomly too.

Car will not accelerate when depressing gas pedal. Will hesitate from 1 to 5 seconds. Example, driving on the freeway doing 60 mph changing lanes and lose acceleration. My 2016 Altima is experiencing a sporadic delay when accelerating from a stop. It won’t rev or do anything for a couple of seconds no matter how far down the pedal is. Then all of a sudden it’ll go. There is no check engine light and no codes. If I turn the car off, it’s like it resets and has more power afterwards.

I just purchased this vehicle with 93,000 miles and good condition. A warning or indicator light never comes on but sporadically I will be driving around 40-50mph & if I let off of the gas something happens where no matter how hard or fast I press the accelerator the car looses power. I can press the accelerator all the way to the floor & still not speed up. The car will slowly decrease speed until about 30mph or either I have to take my foot off of the accelerator totally & press hard about 1/4 on the accelerator to regain power. It feels like the pressure behind the accelerator disappears when all of this happens. There is no dimming of lights or anything obvious. It happens when my mom drives also. I have lost power trying to pass a car or turn with oncoming traffic ahead. It scares me.

Car loses power while driving on highways or roads and had nearly cost me my life on occasion where the vehicle cannot complete a turn from loss of power and I cannot proceed and obstruct oncoming vehicle paths. It has also revved up out of the blue to 6000-7000 rpms despite a holding steady pace on the gas pedal. The speed jolts and has nearly caused me to rear end unsuspecting vehicles. Sometimes the vehicle cannot accelerate and has no power after coming to a full stop at a red light or stop sign. I have been unable to receive help for any of these issues despite many diagnoses and lots of money spent. And it was not made aware to me, an owner of a Nissan Altima vehicle that there is a known probability of failure with cvts in use in Altima’s of my hear. That lack of effort and total disregard for the lives of customers in similar Nissan vehicles is absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable! furthermore, they try to deny it and try to take zero fault. Nissan is denying fault for faulty cvt in my vehicle and made no attempt to notify owners of affected Nissan vehicles and is not rectifying the issue or admitting their lack of effort on making owners of affected Nissan vehicles aware of issues and threatening consumer wellbeing.

The gas pedal will not push down it is like something is under the gas pedal when there isn't anything and then when it does it push down it is like u floor board it. And sometimes it causes it not to change gears like it is not reading the connection from gas pedal to the system that it needs to give it fuel and then it tries to die at times when u do get it to kick in. This is when I stop at a light or stop sign and it does it more when it has been setting running for a bit in one spot. It has happened like several times in the last few months.

Car mpg change for worse and cneck engine light on. Repair codes po14c , po14d,po15a,po15b showing at dealership indicating TSB for factory defective heat sheild replace + air fuel sensor + pcv valve . Dealer wanted $1256. 86 to do the work. The vehicle is a 2016 Altima with 29,006 miles.

Delayed acceleration after coming to a stop car will not accelerate for s few seconds. There needs to be a recall although haven't caused a crash yet it could very easily could be.

Check engine light came on around same time car began to exhibit acceleration issues, like stalling, slipping into 2nd gear, and engine cut out when accelerating during both normal city and highway driving. Sensors read by certified mechanic, and dealership indicated oxygen sensor failure and the dealership replaced the cvt transmission and the O2 sensor. After repairs and part replacements, 2 weeks later all of these problems began to reoccur. Takata recall I've got 80000 miles on my car and the transmission speed sensor went out. So while driving in traffic my car stalled from going and it could've caused a accident or my life the cvt transmission needs checked thanks.

When I am stopped (at a stop sign, traffic light, etc. ) the car hesitates to accelerate when I press the gas. It sometimes takes 5 to 7 seconds before the car will begin to accelerate. This happens randomly, and there is no warning. There have been instances when the rpms rev up extremely high and the car feels like it is struggling to maintain speed. I have taken it to the Nissan dealership, and since they can't reproduce the issue, and nothing shows up when they run diagnostics, they have stated that there is nothing they can do. I purchased my car brand new and currently it has 46,000 miles, and I currently don't feel safe when driving it. This has been randomly happening for months.

I was driving the vehicle immediately had loss of power and would not accelerate. No warnings or codes appeared and after pulling over for 2 minutes the vehicle allowed acceleration again. This has happened 3 times, and the Nissan car dealership could resolve the issue.

I was stopped at a red light when I took my foot off of the break and pressed the accelerator my CA stalled out. It took 30 seconds of pressing on the gas for it to begin to move.

I have been having chronic issues with engine on my 2016 Nissan Altima. Initially (11/2016), the car would "jump/skip" when I would try to accelerator and even feeling like it was going to cut off on me. When I called I was informed it was due to defect and it was on recall. The issues appeared to resolve until 11/2017 I started experiencing the same issue but worse and was not able to accelerate while I was driving to work and back home. This occurred on florida turnkpike and local highways. Cars were hooking at me because I was not able to proceed when light turned green, even though I was flooring the car pedal. When I took the car to the shop, I was informed it was my transmission and they had to rebuild it. Afterwards, I continue to have problems with the car cutting off on me and acceleration issues. I brought it back, and I was told it was the crank sensor. They replaced it but know the engine continue to sound like it is working overtime to perform and make a constant high pitch sound. I am bring it back to them a 3rd time to investigate.

I was driving on florida turnpike south and out of no where I hear a big boom noise. My car started over heating and I noticed my engine light has come onto the dashboard. Once I pulled over on side of turnpike, I notice sticking out of my front bumper a big piece of metal.
