2 Forward Collision Avoidance problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2024

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 mph the forward collision warning chimed and the vehicle began to brake. The contact stated that there was no vehicle in front of his vehicle. The contact stated that the system had activated after several school buses had driven past his vehicle in the opposite lane. The contact stated that he was able to disengage the system and continue driving. The contact stated that the failure had occurred only once. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

3 Forward Collision Avoidance problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2023

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the message "engine malfunction" was displayed, and the check engine, traction control, and forward collision avoidance warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred days later. The vehicle was then taken to an independent machinic where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact stated that the battery was replaced three additional times by several independent mechanics; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
