1 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/21/2020

Model 09 Altima has a known defect where the steering wheel column locks because it is unable to identify its own key. The car was stationary in a parking lot but this could have happend anywhere if this part had failed on the side of the road for example. The vehicle operates using push start and there is no physical key to start the engine outside of inserting the fob, which also didnt work. On 10/21/2020 the anti theft system failed to recognize the key/fob and there is no other way to turn on the car and it has to be towed. This is the second time this part failed randomly and rendered the car inoperable, the first time was in 2014. Nissan covered replacing this part the first time after a service campaign but is now refusing to do so for this non wear and tear problem. This is an extremely concerning and frustrating safety problem as this part can fail at any time and prevent the car from starting or moving, outside of towing and this was the second time this issue have happened. I have contacted Nissan and they refuse to financially help, warranty or reimburse us for a safety manufacturer defect that prevents the car from recognizing its own key/fob with no alternative way to start the car. The cost of repair at a Nissan dealership was $800+ to be able to get into our own car after Nissan refused to help us for their own manufacturer failure. This issue is a safety problem for many drivers on the road who own this make and model car and maybe suspect to their car getting completely disabled at any time from this part's failure with no alternative but to tow it out of the way. Thank you for your review.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/05/2020

When I was about to go to work and try to turn the car, the car didn't want to turn on, the car locked the steering wheel, I have the key present and it's telling me it's locked, the steering wheel is really hard (locked) and the break got really hard to press down. I was doing some research and it's telling me it's the escl (defective electronic steering column lock).

5 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/21/2020

Problem is intermittent. Car will be in motion on highway flat land/uphill/downhill any land and my car will intermittently loose power its a 2008 Altima 2. 5s I will have no choice but to stop my car on the side of the highway in a deadly and heavily used canyon with not many places available to pull your car over. If there is it's very tight. When I pull over I shut it off for about a minute or two then I start it back up while in park I gently press the gas to accelerate it a little and nothing happens. The rpm stick wont move. I have been coming down an off ramp onto the freeway and I wont be able to accelerate in order gain a safe and legal speed to enter on a heavily trafficked highway with no where to pull over, almost caused a huge deadly accident because of this however the car rpm stick went up and down the car felt like it was trying to accelerate after a few "attempts" from the engine it went from me feeling the car almost forceful engine shut off with the lose of accelerating and unable to accelerate and hearing the car almost die and went from me decelerating hard at 40 mph on a slight downhill off ramp freeway at 40 mph to all of a sudden taking off as if the car was a rocket and didnt have any problems with maintaining speed. This has happened 9 times since I purchased and happens intermittently. The car will not typically have this issue if I make a short in town trip or a few errands in town no faster than 30mph speeds and no hard it fast acceleration on flat land. I lost the paperwork from the automotive shop however can easily obtain it showing that the car needs a new catalytic converter repair costing around 1300. Check engine light remains on even after being cleared will throw the same p024 error code. I just bought this car bought and am unable to safely drive it without a deadly outcome.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/16/2020

I am having an issue while driving that my car is saying my front sensor in blocked causing my car to randomly automatic break while no other cars are around me. I took my car to Nissan in cherry hill, NJ where I bought the car eight months ago. They told me that the sensor was bent and my car was hit or in an accident. Let me specify that I was not in an accident, and my car was not hit by another car. There are no marks on the front of my car that would give them reason to say my car was in an accident. I take my car to get serviced at a non- Nissan dealership. Nissan of cherry hill is trying to blame that company for the "damage" that never happened.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

The emergency breaking system has engaged multiple times when there was nothing in front of the vehicle. The vehicle was in motion around a curve when the breaking system engaged and brought my car to a stop. If there was anyone behind me I would have been hit.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/22/2020

2018 Nissan Altima sl while driving in rain the message front radar unavailable due to obstruction, appears. Vehicle begins to shake and the back brakes engage without touching them. Vehicle tries to hydroplane. Vehicle slows to approx 35 or 40 miles per hour. It feels like the back passengers wheel is locked up. I have owned this vehicle for 7 months. The aeb sensor has been replaced. This problem has happened 3 times since the replacement. Always while driving in the rain.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

My wife's 2015 Altima 2. 5 sl has a tremendous water leak on the drivers side filling the cabin with inches of water. This vehicle has been garage kept for the 5yrs, but with the purchase of my new car we know keep the Altima in the driveway. After a recent rain I noticed a very strong musty, moldy odor and the sound of water as I backed out of the driveway, as I reached level ground my feet where soaked with water. I have had the drain tubes cleaned and cleared as this was mention to me at the dealership as a common problem. This did not fix the water leak and Nissan requires $475 to check the problem further. I did a search online and noticed this is a common problem with Nissan vehicles, as this water leak seem to come from faulty structural welding it's a safety hazard to the electrical system and safety of the vehicle as a whole, we now experience slight electrical glitches with our Altima which again I feel is a safety hazard.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

My car has a slow take off and it takes a while to drive properly like it has to warm up . The power steering leaks out and I don't no why. My sensors for check engine is on and I took it to auto zone to get it checked and it's a sensor and just need a tune up but the tire sensor stays on after I put air in the tires it so many small things that can turn into big issues.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

I have replaced the mass air flow sensor and the code keeps coming on. It only stayed off for a month. It causes the car to idle rough. I am not sure if the other problems that are happening are related but the only light that comes on is the service engine light and the code shows p0101.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

The front radar is faulty and is causing issues with the front emergency braking (Feb). There is a notification that says "Feb unavailable: front radar obstruction". This is causing a regular distraction to the driver and also poses in a risk that the vehicle may automatically brake unexpectedly or not brake in an emergency situation.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

While driving my car and merging onto a busy interstate, the check engine light, traction control, and blind spot monitoring error lights all came on the car would not accelerate. The rpm gauge would go up and the car would try to go, but it just wouldnt. I almost got rear ended by a semi truck because my car wasn't able to go or move out of the way. I left it in a shop for over a week and apparently it's something to do with the cvt transmission and speed sensors. I contacted Nissan and all they would tell me was that they did an extended warranty on those transmissions up to 130,000 miles, however my car was roughly 2,000 miles over this and was not covered by that warranty. They told me all I could do was replace the transmission and that was going to cost me roughly $4,000. I'm almost scared to drive it anywhere there's lots of traffic or fast moving traffic for fear of someone running into me. Also when all of those dash lights come on, the traction control isn't working and I've had to drive in the rain several times. I just believe it's overall dangerous and Nissan isn't doing anything to fix the problem for cars that have somehow managed to make it over 130,000 miles. I know several people who've had similar things happen with their Nissan car that has this transmission. I do believe it is a safety issue because it malfunctions at any given time just randomly. I can be driving and it's fine one minute, the next thing I know all of these dash lights are lit up and the car won't accelerate.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

My vehicle was in motion on a city street. I went to make a turn because of a curve and my steering wheel and brake would not work. My emergency brake system (which is suppose to stop my vehicle before impact, did not deploy. I ran straight into a stone wall and fence. I received a recall letter in the mail about the back sensor, but my sensors were working up until my accident. My vehicle was deemed totalled. It was not raining, I was not speeding, and when the police came out to do an investigation, they could only determine that it was a mechanical problem. Why did the sensor not work? why didn't my cars emergency brake system not work? now I'm having to get a new vehicle without even knowing why the safety systems put in place did not deploy. Thank god my son was not in the car and no one else was injured.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/10/2019

Front collision sensor turns on even without any cars in front. The dealer said sometimes the rain affects the sensor but it still turns on even when it's not raining. Once it's the warning light is on, it never turns off. I'm concerned for my safety especially when the emergency brakes depends on the sensor. This happens whenever I drive on a city street. I've had this car since 12/8/19.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/06/2019

While driving a sensor light appears and reads obstruction unavailable and stays for several minutes before turning off this happens at least 5 to 6 times a week. Another problem im having is a knocking sound under driver feet while driving and turning I took it in to have it checked and the technician drove it heard the sound kept the car a whole day but said he couldn't find anything wrong but clearly there is a problem if he and I hear can hear the noise. When I picked the car up it still makes the same sound and I'm afraid while driving something may happen to the wheels. It sounds to me like this is a rotor problem. I've taken the car in twice regarding this same problem and it has not been fixed. Since purchasing this car it has been in service at least 10 times with different problems 3 times for brakes, one time for not being able to push brake to start two times for excessive wind noise from windows had front and back brakes replaced twice and now having to take it back to replace window seals and knocking noise that has not been fixed. Nissan really did a poor job building the particular car not even two years from purchase with several problems very unsatisfied customer.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

This was a used pre-certified car, purchased from the dealer in which did not have any issues until its warranty was practically no longer valid. The cars electrical system started to have issues. The issues with the electrical system started with the usb port connection to a cellular device. Sometimes the car will recognize the phone, other times I have to disconnect the usb to phone connection, turn the usb cord around and reconnect a few times for the radio to recognize the phone. After this issues, one speaker went out. Later on, a second speaker went out. I replaced both speakers to find out that it is possible the in-car amplifier blew. After this, the radio unit would at times go completely black, causing me to have to turn the car off and back on. After this, the driver side door no longer locks electronically, I have to lock and unlock driver side door manually but the passenger side does indeed work. After these issues, I noticed the check engine light had come on for a mass air flow sensor. I cleaned the sensor, and the engine light went away. About 300 miles later, it came back on and the car hesitates/bucks consistently with a loss of power once the speed hits about 60 mph. I-75 hills, I can no longer accelerate to maintain speeds. I replaced the maf sensor, check engine light is still on. I had it cleared from o'reilly's since the same code was appearing on the car. After 10 miles sitting in idle, the traction control sensor appeared. 10 miles afterwards this on I-75, the car will not climb hills, drops power, bucks and jerks the car forward and back. I stopped at a part store, turn the car off and back on. Traction control sensor goes away, engine light comes back on with same code reading. I cleaned the throttle body, check engine light is still on. I've read a lot of articles about this, no one has figured out how to fix this.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/25/2019

The front sensor on my 2018 Nissan Altima malfunctions, stating that there's a front radar obstruction at times. Other times, it falsely detects a vehicle too close in front of me when there's nothing actually in front of me on streets and on the freeway. It recently engaged the brakes while I was on a street when it falsely detected another vehicle too close in front of me. Luckily, no accident resulted.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/16/2019

Adaptive cruise control and automatic braking are disabled due to "front radar blocked". This is a brand new vehicle I have had for about two weeks (less than 1,000 miles). After doing some internet research, this appears to be a known issue with Nissan vehicles since 2018. I believe my vehicle was manufactured in late 2018. The issue was first noticed while driving with the cruise control engaged and I kept getting closer to the vehicle ahead of me without my vehicle automatically slowing down (I. E. , the car maintained the cruise control set speed. ) after manually braking and resetting the cruise control, the cruise control would eventually shut off and the attached message would be displayed. Prior to the issue being observed (approx. First 500 miles driven), the adaptive cruise control and automatic braking worked fine.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/15/2019

I own a 2019 Nissan Altima awd and have experienced a few problems. The most significant problem is the defective forward collision safety feature. Two times the vehicle has improperly and abruptly applied brakes, the feature is intended to avoid collision, but instead its malfunction is creating road hazards. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they have evaded me and everytime I call they say you have been assigned a case and someone will call you soon. I attempted to service the vehicle two times this week at two different Nissan dealerships. One turned me away stating it's a known problem and Nissan does not have a fix yet. The second Nissan dealership was in the process of issuing me an alternate vehicle when they received a call from the same folks who won't return my call Nissan consumer affairs instructing the dealer not perform any service or a loaner. This is so outrageous, but I actually have it in writing to prove the level of negligence and ill service to force a customer to stay in a vehicle that they don't feel safe in. None the less their failure to do their due diligence. The safety feature malfunctioned on the highway once and the next time on a incline ramp in mall parking garage to a forceful hard stop. I have spoken with 3 general managers and 3 different consumer affairs call center reps, but yet no service or call back from Nissan north America. Negligent negligence negligent. Nissan is not what it used to be. Stay far away and tell everyone you know to stay far away. I am the owner of a model year vehicle with full warranty and this is how they are treating me. What would you get?.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/13/2019
