Year 2013 recalled radiator leakage internal and caused ( tranmission fluid got into radiator ) . I report to Nissan USA : they denied to pay for its because have been to long but now its happening to my truck on date : 10/19/2020 . Please , help . Thanks !.
I was driving to work in the morning , about 10 miles to work on the highway not a tree or car insight , I heard what sounded like a loud pop / I had no idea what it was , not a tire or anything I look up and see my sunroof shattered.
After stopping and turning off truck at an alley. It would not restart until several attempts and stepping on brake. Also, while driving in business parking lot, engine stalled; truck stopped locking the steering wheel; unable to restart the truck after several attempts and stepping on brake.
Chassis rust the chassis on the rear of my 2005 Nissan Frontier is almost broken into pieces.
Truck cuts off while driving no matter what speed your at. Have to wait a few seconds to get it to start again.
Takata recall. A poor design led to the engine coolant slowly leaking into the transmission and ruining it causing it to need to be replaced. Nissan said it was not their problem and I had to pay for the whole thing.
Nissan transmission destroyed by engine coolant leak. Had no problem with transmission until one day, shifted into drive and transmission was stuck in higher gear. Thought it was electrical. Turned the car off then back on. Would not engage in reverse, but forward was back to normal. Took to aamco transmission repair and was told this was a common problem with Nissans in that the design flaw allows engine coolant to mix with transmission fluid and destroys the transmission. Cost to replace is estimated at $4100, can not obtain a used transmission because all the same transmissions have the same problem with engine coolant leakage. Vehicle has 155k miles, and did not have any warning signs of transmission problems. Nissan needs to be responsible for their design flaw. This truck which was running fine last week, will now be sold for scrap at a junkyard as I can not afford to repair for $4100. Aamco transmission said junk yards are full of same Nissans due to other owners with the same problem.
My radiator failed and contaminated the transmission with coolant causing the transmission to fail. The truck has 108,000 miles but the technician that replaced the transmission and radiator said that it had been mixing for a while so it is difficult to say how many miles the vehicle had at the time of the failure. It cost me $4750 to repair. This is a common problem with Nissan Frontiers.
Check engine light came on, got scanned at auto zone, all codes referenced transmission & sensors (I. E. Cam shaft). . . Took to geurlich's auto for an inspection and transmission was suggested to be replaced. . . Took it to aamco for an inspection/2nd opinion and same diagnosis, replace/re-build transmission. Finally accumulated the funds to have a mechanic rebuild our transmission and upon return of our vehicle, and unbeknownst to us, he mentioned the know issues/investigation stemming back to 2012 with the radiator leaking into the transmission and causing it to fail, which is ultimately what he felt happened. Since we purchased the vehicle on 08/08/2012 with an odometer reading of 100,340. We would have been entitled to none of the repair options or concessions Nissan offered under the proposed class action, since all were offered only up to 100k miles. . Read more...
On my truck I experienced a sudden loss in power and throttle response while driving without warning, as the transmission failed to shift gears properly. After spending $100 for a diagnostic from a mechanic it was found that my transmission cooler reservoir is leaking in my radiator and caused cross contamination between my antifreeze and atf. The antifreeze is getting into my transmission and boiling once the transmission reaches operating temperatures. The antifreeze vapor is then causing the transmission clutches and bands to not be able to engage correctly, and therefore not being able to shift up and down through the gears properly. I just about got hit trying to turn left out onto the road in front of cross traffic. I avoided an accident, but this happened with no warning. This fix is going to cost me anywhere from $500 to $5,000 to fix depending on the extent of the damage the antifreeze in my transmission caused. I just read that a few years ago Nissan extended the warranty due to this, and I am past that point, but this is still unacceptable at only 102,000 miles. Nissan should have recalled this and fixed it when it was just a couple hundred dollars for a new radiator years ago. Lastly, my truck without issues was worth nearly $8k in its condition, now i¿ll have trouble getting a dealer to pay anything in trade-in value if I choose to not fix the truck.
While getting on the freeway, I accelerated to merge with traffic but was unable to gain speed so I got off on the first exit ramp. Had plenty of engine power but lost torque. First thought, must be the transmission slipping. Got home and checked the transmission oil level and it was fine, the oil did not look like transmission oil, it was discolored and had a different feel to it. Was able to get the truck to dealer and was told it needed a radiator and transmission. Coolant had leaked into the transmission. Did my research and found there have been many complaints about this problem. As for the warranty,by which I still have to pay over $2500, I believe Nissan should have had a recall on the 05 Frontier, pathfinder, and payed for the whole repair for their use of what I call defective parts. ( radiator & transmission cooler ).
I found out a faulty engineered control valve assembly caused radiator and transmission failure in my vehicle. It happened less then a month outside & 7000 mi over the extended warranty. Extension for the warranty to 80,000 was put in place for a class action law suit for this item back in 2010. In 2010 my vehicle did not even have 50,000 so none of this applied to me! nor did Nissan do the right thing and recall my truck prior knowing this part fails after 80000! all the people this happens to after this law suit went down are out of luck because too much time has passed. So, I as a consumer who takes care of their vehicle and keeps low miles, has to pay big money to fix this problem! I called Nissan headquarters to do the right thing. They said because of the judgement of the class action law suit, they can not honor my request to do the right thing. I have to pay $2500 to fix my truck! I asked if I had to sue independently and take to twitter to help my cause? the gal on the other end of the phone (highest person up the chain I could reach) said; "yes mam, I'm sorry mam, but I guess that's what you have to do. My hands are tied by this judgment I can do nothing for you"! I feel completely ripped off and deceived by Nissan!!! is there a possibility you can come to my aid and direct me how I may get this covered? this has become a major hardship!.
I only had a year since I purchased my used 2005 Nissan Frontier from a Nissan dealership and my transmission failed, with no warning whatsoever, one day I felt the gears where getting a little stiff every time I shifted and the next thing I know im at the shop, and im being told its going to be 4800. 00 to fix my transmission, I am a single mother of two, still have a loan on this vehicle and had to scrap up money to buy an additional car because I cannot afford to fix it. Then I find out this is a know problem by Nissan and they refuse to help out the consumer and their lame warranty covers nothing because my car exceeds the 100k mile warranty. . . This blows, never buying Nissan again.
Apparently a known issue with the radiator leaking into the transmission - causing an $3000 repair to a vehicle that was well-maintained. The transmission started slipping and after diagnostics was told by the mechanic this was an issue that Nissan knew about and never did anything about. Spent $3000 of my money to fix something that should have been prevented and fixed by the manufacturer. I liked Nissan, but after this; I may not buy anymore. Have documentation to prove the issue.
Transs fluid leaked into radiator.
I was driving on kingery highway in villa park when I stopped for traffic. When I tried to accelerate after the traffic was moving, the lights on the dashboard turned on and the truck would only accelerate to less than 1 mph. This could have caused a serious accident.
The vehicle shut off on the hwy. This happend twice on different days. The vehicle was going at a 60-65 miles per hour speed and it shut off. I costed to the side of the hwy and turned the truck back on.
I noticed as I was driving vehicle started to have shaking or vibrating/jerking ( at different speeds), it seems to hesitate when I increase speed. My technician thinks something is going on with transmission or torque converter. Concerned vehicle may break / stop running.
Driving at about 40mph my 2005 Nissan Frontier 4. 0l v6 starts to rumble for approximately 4 seconds as if I were driving over a rumble strip. Once the rumble begins there is a loss of power. This is happening at least twice a day.
The transmissiom seems lack it trying to lockup while driving at a speed of 45 miles per hour. It has got so bad that I have park the truck at home because the transmission may lock up while I am driving. And may cause someone to get killed.
Sitting at a stop light with right foot on brake, waiting for light to change. As light changed applied pressure to gas pedal but the vehicle would not move the engine would just rev up. Put the vehicle in park and turn off the engine waited a moment then turned the vehicle back on and put the transmission in drive, vehicle began to move but the transmission acted like it was slipping. Drove vehicle to dealer and they said that the transmission had failed on vehicle and it would need a new one. Payed 5,321. 74 to have transmission replaced. Dealer said transmission failure was due to a radiator issue on vehicle.
Transmission coolin in the radiator ruptured causing complete failure of the transmission.
Transmission cooler line failure, causing cross contamination from the radiator to the transmission. Contacted Nissan, through phone and certified letters to the president of Nissan. Nissan would not except any responsibility. My vehicle was non drivable for 6 months due to the cost of repairs.
My vehicle has developed a vibration while I am driving which has been very uncomfortable, however, nothing major in the performance of the vehicle, however, now my vehicle has decided to randomly turn off while driving. This is extremely dangerous and could cause an accident. I took it to the Nissan dealership and they said that they found trans fluid mixing with coolant due to leaking trans cooler in radiator and the total cost would come out to $5,000. I am unable to afford this bill so I have not been able to repair my vehicle.
My 2005 Nissan Frontier has had the transmission/radiator problems that are numerously evident from doing my research. It is in the shop at the present time. The minimum repair cost at this time is $3000. 00. If certain other parts are needed to be replaced it could be quite a bit higher.
Nissan's rear axle design for the Frontier is faulty, utilizing a bleeder valve that clogs causing seals to fail. Failed seals cause differential oil to leak leading to axle wear, among other issues. Oil leak also spreads all over breaks leading to possible break failure. My axles were replaced in 2012 (along with breaks due to oil damage), now I'm being told (2015) that axles need to be replaced again. I believe Nissan is aware of the problem but this part failure generates revenue, as the work is costly, and leads to the need for break replacement. There needs to be a recall.
When the car had about 60 thousand miles I went to the dealership because I felt like there was something wrong in the way car started to drive. I asked for paper work of the inspection but was not provided instead got the estimate of things that were not important at that time had noting to do with the issue I was having with the car. After a while I had to use that vehicle my only car,it start slipping on the gears. Car had about 98 thousand on it!! and little after that transmission went!! I have taken the car to norwich dealership for answers. When they have told me is not covered by my warranty because car had at that time over a 100. 000 miles (103. 000 miles). I bought the car from Nissan dealership car was display model and had 7 thousand miles on it when I got it. Dealership stated that's a new car and this 7 thousand miles wont count to the warranty major selling point price was lower!!! when I told them about it they said its over the warranty and they cant do anything unless I pay my self. I have received a letter from Nissan about class action unfortunately it doesn't help me because my car has more that 100 thousand miles. So I have a car which has been paid of and it just sits on the driveway because its broke and I don't have $3000 to just go and fix it and I don't think I should since they new what was the problem since the beginning!!!.
There is defect on all the transmissions of this type and Nissan should must do something about it!.
Purchased a 05 Frontier cc 4x4 truck from a local dealership. 2 weeks I had the truck roughly the 15 of July, I had put a 30 to 40 pound stone in the back of my truck which has the rhino bed liner, rock dent in the ribs of the box and chipped the rhino bed lining. Took it to the dealership, explained in detail but nothing done as of yet. Yet another person had the same problem I was told by the service department and got a new box. Problems with the drivers side window rattling, the rear end squeaking, and the rear. I took the truck in again, they took it in said they fixed the problems with the window and the rear end squeaking. Took truck home and was doing the same thing. Took back again for same problem plus rear differential and engine brake. Said they fixed window (not true again), had to replace the bushings in the rear(were bad), and needed a new rear differential engine brake they said they had to contact someone else about to find out problem(not fixed to date) took truck in again had it 3 days said was fixed. I took the truck home rear differential was doing exact same thing but now rear was getting hot. Called Monday morning to tell them it was doing exact same thing and the rear was getting hot and service department manger got pissed off was yelling. Now having trouble with the steering in the front , not right. Tried to get problem worked out with dealership. Had to finally call Nissan complaint center. Waited a week for response and finally had call from consumer affairs with no resolution. Told me they could not do nothing except send to general manager plus file complaint with bbb auto which, cost $200, no guarantee. Dealership service department also did not give me copies of service work done and refuses to do so. Consumer affairs only told me they can get them and it will help their case. Called another dealership had them pull up work done on truck and none was filed. I was sold a lemon Nissan don't want to deal with. I smell a lawsuit!.
