The truck loss power stalling, shuddering, bucking, want pick up speed even when excellerating, slow take off, loss of speed.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle came to a complete stop and then hesitated to accelerate. Additionally, a burning odor was detected. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with transmission and radiator failure. The transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,700.
When the truck hit about 115,000 miles, it started shifting oddly. At 120,000 miles it would not drive. I let it sit for a week and then it would drive. I can only drive it 5 miles or less in order for it to drive. Anymore than that, the check engine light comes on and it doesn't have the power to go over 10mph. After driving, even less than 5 miles, it leaks antifreeze.
Transmission damage caused by transmission cooler.
Truck would not crank. The indicator for the gears went out. I was at home parked when it would not start. Had a mechanic test it. The test indicated the transmission computer is the problem. There is transmission fluid in the antifreeze. This is a defect from Nissan.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the vehicle was operating normally and then suddenly stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a repair facility where it was diagnosed that the transmission assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from an extended warranty campaign and there was no recall on the vehicle; however, there were four tsbs for the power train. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
My truck just reached 80,800 miles and it has lost power. I took it to the Nissan dealer for a diagnostic test and it came back with the radiator, transmission and the fuel pump all need to be replaced. They told me I had no warranty on any of these parts as of 2010 and they quoted me almost $7,000 to replace all. After going home and looking up transmission shops I found hundreds of articles about the same problem with thousands of Nissan cars. I have never received a notice of recall on my truck. Then I find they have sneakily extended their warranty without notifying us and now my truck is 12years old with only 80,800 miles and I need to come up with $7,000 because they failed to notify their clients about their mistakes.
While driving down the highway the radiator failed leaking coolant into the transmission resulting in them both needing to be replaced.
Fluid from my radiator mixed into my transmission rendering it inoperable. After doing research on it I learned that Nissan was aware of the problem, and failed to notify the customers.
After 2 and a half months of fighting with Nissan consumer affairs, Nissan has basically told me they do not care about me or the other people affected by this issue or their safety. As sad as it sounds its going to take someone getting killed because of this issue before they open their eyes.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While parked, the vehicle failed to shift into reverse without warning. The contact called an independent mechanic who stated that the shift cable grommet linkage failed and needed to be replaced. The contact repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 125,375.
Bought used, transmission replaced by seller 2 months before sale, no issues on test drive. After purchase many issues with changing of gears and apparent transmission issues. Seller was very aware of issue. It is an obvious hazard if the transmission has issues while driving which can cause injury and death if an accident happens. The investigation of this issue needs to be reopened and Nissan needs to be held responsible to create and fix this lethal fault in design and application.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that whiled driving approximately 25 mph the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate when pressing the accelerator pedal. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer orr Nissan(2323 viking dr. Bossier la) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 160,000. Jft.
Vehicle was driving then hurt a loud thud. Engine raced. Took it to mechanic. Then a transmission shop. They said coolant leaked into transmission. Need new tranny and radiator.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle jerked front to back and then stalled. The engine and other warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was pushed into a parking lot. The driver attempted to start the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was able to be started the next day; however, the failure recurred a week later. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the radiator liquid was leaking into the transmission, which caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who confirmed the mechanic's diagnosis and replaced a faulty sensor. The failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer again, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Transmission cooler leaked causing bucking in the truck at hyway speed and severe internal damage to the transmision.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact pulled the vehicle into an empty parking lot and the smoke dissipated. The contact removed the key from the ignition and exited the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the radiator fluid mixed with the transmission fluid. A remedy was not provided. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was not included.
2005 Nissan Frontier. Consumer writes in regards to engineering issues with cross contamination fluids between radiator and transmission.
Transmission oil leaking into coolant system and coolant leaking into transmission.
Chugging, slipping, hard shifting transmission when driving most any speed. Over the last 1 1/2 years.
Design defect in radiator of 2005 Nissan Frontier allowed transmission fluid and engine coolant to mix. Resulted in catastrophic failure of transmission. Dealer stated since vehicle has more than 100,000 miles, the $4 - 5,000 expense is mine. Last Nissan we'll ever buy after 40 years of ownership.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled when the contact attempted to slow down. The vehicle started normally after a few minutes. The failure recurred four times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was an electrical short in the fuse box. The transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Radiator of 2005 Nissan Frontier allowed transmission fluid and engine coolant to mix. 1st I had to purchase a new radiator and now I am having to have the transmission rebuilt. There should be a recall on this type of muliple failures which cause multible problems. Paid $$$$ for radiator repair now $4300. 00 for transmisson at my expense. I would not be interested in purchasing another Nissan.
Timing chain on 2005 Nissan Frontier. The engine makes a loud whining noise due to the chain contact. When the vehicle is stationary or motion it make the noise. When the vehicle in motion it changes gears at a higher rpm. I have sensors that were operable because of the timing chain issue.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate over 5 mph. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission was flooded with coolant and needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.
Last November 6th I hit a deer, front impact. Took truck to local garage to have it serviced. The only damage they said occurred was body damage. 3wks later got my truck back with body damage repaired. About 3wks after that I started to notice a slight vibration in my truck when I got to a certain speed. I really didn't think nothing of it and thought maybe I had a tire out of balance. Well the vibration started getting worse and I started to notice a strong vibration and decrease in power when it shifted. So I took the truck back to the garage to see if they could figure anything out. I thought maybe the deer caused more damage than expected but they couldn't find anything. The didn't charge me anything because they found nothing wrong. So I drove it for another 2 weeks and it got worse. I took it to a local Nissan dealership and within 30mins they determined a transmission cooler rupture and that it basically has ruined my transmission and would need to replace it, a service charge of $6,000!!! they told me I was just out of warranty on it. I've been reading on this issue and know Nissan has an extended warranty of 10yrs or 100,000 miles. I went to the dealer on the 19th of January. 19 days out or warranty!!! when I had originally had an issue in late December and nothing was found!!! the truck is barely 10yrs old and has less than 90,000 miles on it.
2005 Nissan Frontier. Consumer writes in regards to coolant leaks from radiator into transmission.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While parked, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, who diagnosed that there was contamination by the engine coolant. As a result, the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Nissan has admitted to faulty radiators in their 05-10 midsize vehicles. Mine being a Frontier but also used in xterra, pathfinders and I believe titans. These radiators when they go, take the transmission with them. 4700 dollar bill later Nissan says I'm 2 months beyong my 10 years and will not honor any help, even though I'm 10k under the 100k mile limit. So because I kept my miles low and have taken care of my pickup I am still at fault for their faulty equipment. My family will ***never*** own another Nissan as long as we live. At anytime they could have said hey for $275 we won't recall these radiators but they are $275 to replace you should do it before it goes and takes the transmission too. Fuck you Nissan. . . . Poor business.
There was a class action lawsuit settlement alleging Nissan north America concealed from consumers a cross-contamination of engine coolant and transmission fluid for 2005-2010 Frontiers. On June 18, 2015 my truck lost power and stopped working, in the middle of an intersection, almost creating an accident. I towed my truck to get it repaired, I paid $120 and $1800, they fixed half of the problem. Since my truck was still not working I did some research and found out about the extended warranty. I towed my truck to buena park Nissan where I had to pay $3000 to fix my truck. I contacted Nissan na to see if I could get a refund for cost I had already made, they told me to send them invoices of what I had paid. Later they said that they could not reimburse me since it was not repaired at a Nissan dealership. I have paid a total of $4920 for a problem Nissan created, knew about and concealed from customers.
Engine coolant is leaking into the transmission and vice versa.
My 2005 Nissan Frontier has cross contamination between the radiator and the transmission. Nissan new about this problem years ago. To fix the problem they extended the warranty out to 10 years. Now I need a new radiator and transmission. My cost 3000 dollars. I only had a month left before I was [xxx] out of luck. I have been driving for 35 years and have never had to replace a transmission that only had 67000 miles on it. Poor design and the consumer pays. They wanted to know if I was going to fix it. I told them I had 2 choices fix it or set it on fire. They gave me a strange look. I told them to repair it and I would but Toyota next time. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Radiator leaked into transmission and both need to be replaced. This is an ongoing problem (class action and many other complaints) for Nissan and they refuse to be accountable. Bought used from Nissan dealer and issue was never mentioned even thought they have serviced several cars with same problem.
Check engine light came on, got scanned at auto zone, all codes referenced transmission & sensors (I. E. Cam shaft). . . Took to geurlich's auto for an inspection and transmission was suggested to be replaced. . . Took it to aamco for an inspection/2nd opinion and same diagnosis, replace/re-build transmission. Finally accumulated the funds to have a mechanic rebuild our transmission and upon return of our vehicle, and unbeknownst to us, he mentioned the know issues/investigation stemming back to 2012 with the radiator leaking into the transmission and causing it to fail, which is ultimately what he felt happened. Since we purchased the vehicle on 08/08/2012 with an odometer reading of 100,340. We would have been entitled to none of the repair options or concessions Nissan offered under the proposed class action, since all were offered only up to 100k miles. . Read more...
Driving along at 65 miles per hour seemed like transmission went into neutral and engine revved up. Rolled to side of road. Truck would no longer move. Had truck towed to garage where they informed me that the transmission had coolant in it and had wiped it out. To replace trans and radiator was 5300 dollars.
