Rear frame rusting by leaf spring . Not very safe to drive . It's known for the frame to rust but have not made a recall yet.
Coolant and transmission lines cross contaminated I found out when my car just stopped turning on so I took it to the dealer and they said I need to change radiator and transmission for close to 6000 dollars because the fluids cross contaminated due to a failure in the radiator. My vehicle has only 60800 miles but is out of warranty due to age and this isn't right.
While replacing the truck bed for rust we discovered the frame is rusted almost in half in multiple spots. Frame was not sprayed to prevent rust. Spayed to prevent rust in the pictures was done by us.
Air bags light is always on and transmisin code 1774 was on recall, my transmision broke down.
Coolant cross contaminated radiator and transmission and my timing chain need to be replaced. Only have 83,000.
Transmission fluid in the radiator !!itonly has 75 thousand miles original only one owner dealers told me it would be 6,000 dollars plus to fix ,please help.
I own a 2007 Nissan Frontier le crew cab 4x4 and I have owned since it has had 72,000 miles on it. Last Monday while driving to work my truck shut off in the middle of hwy 53 and locked up the steering and almost took my life. Due to the fact Nissan has ignored their radiators are faulty leaking into the transmission, I am left with my truck sitting in the yard. I am a 22 year old male with 2 jobs and a full time student without a way to continue to purse my dream of becoming a physical therapist.
Defective radiator hose caused coolant fluid to seep into the transmission, damaging it entirely. Cost of repairs were $4200. 00. Nissan neglected to notify owners of defective part and the recall for 2005-2010 models. Over 2000 complaints were filed before Nissan took corrective action, which included extended warranty to 100,000 miles. However, mechanical issues will not manifest until well over 100,000 miles thus absolving Nissan from any responsibility or ownership.
Tamara recall problems with transmission shifting was moving got code, transmission slow to move.
Took my Nissan Frontier to pacific Nissan in san diego for a consistent jerk/knock with sound of liquid gurgling. Notified that I was lucky that the truck made it to the shop. Notified that there is a fluid intermix between my coolant and transmission fluids. How can that be when they are two totally different systems? Nissan is offering that I pay the deductible of 3000$ to get it fixed. I just found out that this is a known issue for all Frontiers, xterras and pathfinders and Nissan is not being pro-active in issuing repairs prior to this problem happening and sticking the consumers with the cost to repair the vehicle. How can this be allowed to happen?.
Cross contamination of antifreeze and tranny fluid.
Nissan is aware of leaking radiators and not until a class action lawsuit was filed they did not take responsibility and only help pay with a copay if the vehicle is less then 90,000 miles. Which is ridiculous because it should it be unlimited mileage for that type of repair. Radiator leaked coolant fluid into transmission and corroded and broke seals on transmission caused it to brake and have car shut down.
My Frontier died on 12/6 / 12/7/2015. I had it towed to the boardwalk Nissan and paid $100 to have the problem diagnosed. I was told the repairs would cost $10,500. The radiator caused the transmission to go out in turn causing the computer panel to burn out. I asked the service adviser was there something I could've done to prevent the problem. He said no, the problem happens. I then had the truck towed home. Now, I find out there was a problem that Nissan should've known about, had they made the repairs to the radiator, my truck would be working today. This makes me angry. It makes me angry that I just paid $317. 44 to replace tire sensors that may not have been needed!! the radiator issue resulted in a $417. 44 expense that may not have been necessary ($100 for a diagnosis). The truck was parked in front of my house. I attempted to start the car on 12/6/15, it wouldn't start. Thinking it was a battery issue, I waited until the next morning; only to find out it wasn't the battery. I called boardwalk Nissan and had the truck towed to the dealership for diagnostics & repairs only to find out it would cost me $10,500.
I bought a used 2007 Nissan Frontier crew cab at Hyundai of roseville, CA a year and half ago on Jan 2014 and they never disclose to me that this car was known for coolant leaking into the transmission and eventually destroying it. After buying this, I only drove it for about 8,000 miles and this problem hits me June 2015. I bought it for $12,500 and still owe $8,000. The costs to repair this according to Nissan would costs me $7,500. I bought an extended warranty for $1,200, but it would not be covered because this is a "known pre-existing problem or defect by the manufacturer. " so, this used Frontier would costs me over $20,000 which is about what the new ones are going for. This is terrible and I need some kind of justice. Either Nissan, the Hyundai dealership that I bought this from and or the extended warranty company need to pay for this. Nissan should pay because this was a known manufacturer defect. Hyundai dealership that I bought it from should also pay because they didn't disclose of this known defect. The extended warranty company called buy direct auto warranty should had not offer me a warranty knowing that can't pay for this kind of repair. They should either pay for the repair or give me a full refund. I need justice!!!.
While I was driving I felt a heavy vibration while shifting, and accelerating, abrupt stalling, and shuddering noises. It was so dangerous to be on the road with this vehicle. I had to replace my transmission and radiator immediately on a vehicle that had only 53,452 miles on it.
Transmission failure. Driving on freeway vehicle wouldn't shift into gear. I was stuck and on my way home in heavy traffic. Truck started shaking. Took it to aamco on 5/2/15. Cost me over $3770. 00. On 9/6/15 took first trip to the mountains, again my transmission goes out. This time we're in the mountains going up hill when my truck won't shift into gear. Once again I have to have my truck fixed. I don't own a bank and I need my truck to work. What the hell am I going to do to make a living? what is Nissan waiting for someone or a family getting killed???.
Like so many other Nissan Frontier owners, the radiator coolant got mixed with the transmission fluid. This is factory defect known by Nissan. Had to replace radiator and transmission since the car was not responding well and was not able to run properly. Called Nissan three times to ask for some financial support and they denied it.
When driving along the truck lost power then when the truck was turned back on the motor made a loud noise. Now the repairman tells me the truck needs a new motor. It has not given me any trouble before. It is not a work truck it's a pleasure truck. I'm retired. With that low mileage you would think the motor would be better than that. I hope you can help me. Thank you.
A defective radiator installed by manufacturer, rotted, causing a mix of transmission fluid and coolant permanently damaging the transmission.
My husband has 2007 Nissan Frontier. When he drove a car go to work, suddenly stop and after that didn't start any more. We never got into accident before and taking care of truck very good. Tow company had to tow his truck to Nissan dealership and they said it's computer problem so cost $800, takes a week to fix. After a week they called us,said they found another problem so cost $2000,takes one more week. After 2 weeks we still didn't hear anything from them. After more than 1 month finally we got call from Nissan and they still can't fix yet and they found something wrong around transmission area. . . . . They said seems like had a fire or burn around area and effected to all computer system. So now we have to change transmission and radiator which is cost $7000. It's mean we have to pay first $2000 plus $7000 = $9000 just fix for the car. I guess we still have a extention warranty on the truck so they can cover $4000 but still a lot for us cause we just paid off payment on this truck. Ofcourse I was thinking to buy new car if we can trade in this truck but sales person said they don't take this truck because this truck is trush? so I went to online to serch about Nissan transmisson, came out a lot. So many similar trouble has been reported. And now im really hopeing you guys will anounce this transmisson is under the recall! it's not couple hundreds cost, it's more than couple thousands cost for!! it's not cheap. Dealership is just adding all cost that they doing. If it's our fault,I understand we have to pay but sound like not our fault. Good thing car didn't get a fire around transmission area. It's going to be 2 month since Nissan keeping our truck. My husband has been driving rent a car to go work and rent a car is not cheap. Hopefully we will hear something from you guys and it will be a good news for us.
The d for drive would no longer show -to took it transmission place and they detected coolant leak into transmission. Found out Nissan had lost a class action suit over this and realized my truck is over limit for milage this is second major repair for this vehicle had a transmission control module replaced and was partially reimbursed after a big fight with dealer and Nissan. Will never buy another Nissan after this I hope you hang them out to dry over this.
The transmission cooling unit in the radiator leaked. My coolant system became a brown sludge due to having transmission fluid leak into it. My transmission fluid had coolant leak into it and transmission is damaged.
I was driving down a back road. While traveling up a slight hill the truck slipped out of gear. When I pressed the gas pedal the engine would rev but it would not accelerate. I pulled to the side of the road and turned off the truck. When I restarted and put it in drive I started rolling backwards. I ended up getting towed to my mechanic. If this was the original transmission I could understand that at 155k miles it could fail, however this truck has now gone through the factory transmission as well as a factory refurbished transmission all within 7 years. I read online about many Frontier owners having the same issue as I have. I brought the truck to my mechanic who informed me that the radiator fails which causes the transmission to fail. I feel lucky that I was on a back road because the failure happened quickly, had I been on a highway with moderate traffic I could easily been stranded in the middle of the road.
Coolant backed up into transmission and destroyed the transmission and radiator.
Truck suddenly running rough. Plugs replaced. Took in for relearn idle. Told me also 3 of 4 cats clogged and coolant in the transmission. Knew nothing of this issue with these trucks until I looked online to try and figure what was happening with my truck. I am so angry right now. There should be a recall as it truly is a safety hazard. To imagine the thought of driving on the freeway and have your trannie lock up. . . ? hello! this has caught me unaware and I didn't know about this until now and at 127k miles, I am sol on any kind of refund, repair, or anything? they should be liable as I should not be in this position with no recourse for a known safety issue that is now going to cost me more money that I can afford. This is their issue and they should fix it, not me. They knew and they should fix. Regardless, who knows how much actual damage this has caused my engine now? I am so angry right now. . . . Don't know what I am going to do now. But if I buy another truck, I don't think it will be a Nissan. . . Too many cover ups. . . No responses or fixes. . .
The automatic transmission started shifting "hard" and the heater stopped working. I took it to a local shop and they told me that the radiator fluid had contaminated the transmission fluid, and visa versa. I needed to have a transmission shop look at it. They told me the same thing as the previous shop, but also that I would be needing a new transmission and radiator system, at the cost of $4848. 00. This was due to a failed transmission fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid, resulting in damaged internal transmission components and a damaged internal transmission computer. After researching, this has occurred to hundreds of Nissan vehicles, including 2005-2010 Nissan pathfinder, Frontier and xterra vehicles. Nissan has been aware of this problem since 2007 and has undertaken no preventive measures to protect consumers from failure.
For approximately 1 month prior to the transmission failing, I notice a "bucking" from the transmission following shifts and only at low rpm's. I had the transmission fluid levels checked during an oil change in January 2014, and fluid was added (the transmission was not flushed. ) the "bucking" seemed to subside for a few days, however what I next experienced next was far worse. On three or four occassions, the truck suddenly acted at though the transmission disengaged, as if it were in neutral. Each of these incidents occurred on 4 lane highways, at highway speed. As I recall, on at least one of these occassions traffic was very light, and I was able to safely exit the highway. However, on the other occassions, the sudden loss of speed and ability to accelerate very very nearly caused a serious accident.
The vehicle has been fantastic in every way but one. About 6 months ago the tire pressure monitor stayed on after the blinking stopped. Normally it would blink a few times and quit. After I checked the tires and made sure they were all at 35lbs, I tried the old trick of disconnecting the battery to make the computer re boot. In this case that didn't work, so I took it to the dealer. They said everything worked fine, but I had a hard code. They cleared it and I went on my way. Worked ok that day and the next start but after that I got the hard code again. My tires were still at 35 lbs. So about a month later, the next time I drove by the dealership, I went in again. Same reply, same result. Its been about a year now and im over 100k. Wanna bet if I go back, they find and fix the problem this time. Course now I hv to pay instead of Nissan.
I parked my truck and later tried to start it and it would'nt. Had it towed to one repair shop ($45. 00 plus $75. 00 to the repair shop) and they refered me to a transmission mechanic. So I had it towed there ($45. 00) and he said that radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission. I've had the truck about 2 weeks before this happened. The estimate on repairs is $3,500. Watch and see what god makes happen!.
