In December 2023 I noticed a bad discoloration of the coolant in my 2007 Nissan Frontier. I took the truck to the local Nissan dealership and had them flush the coolant system. There were no warning lamps or messages. There were no other symptoms or problems prior to that. Receipt available for this service. Then in may 2023 the transmission began shifting extremely hard. Upon checking the coolant it was the consistency of strawberry milkshake. The truck was taken to a local transmission shop and they rebuilt the transmission assembly along with replacing the radiator and flushing the system. This work was completed June 3, 2024. Receipt is available for this service. With continuing to see the coolant have a consistency of strawberry milkshake, I reached out to the local Nissan dealership for them to tell me there had been a recall for this. Upon doing further research, I have learned there actually wasn't a recall but an extended warranty offered that Nissan did not willingly let owners know about. $4,500. 00 later I still have the same problem I started with and am fearful this truck will fail as I'm driving on the highway and am concerned about my safety. Nissan knew when they flushed the coolant in December 2023 of this problem and said nothing. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
Radiator coolant leaked into transmission after125,000 miles.
The radiator cracked, leaking water in to the transmission cooler, causing contamination of the transmission fluid. The caused the transmission to instantly malfunction, ruining all internal electronic parts. No warning signs, service lights, etc. Before the transmission was damaged. Transmission repair shop says this is very common and is going to cost $3900 to repair the vehicle.
This is known problem you refused to force Nissan to recall. At a minimum Nissan should have been required to notify owners of the problem. They did not. My radiator has failed allowing coolant to mix with the transmission fluid destroying the transmission. I have 96,000 miles on my vehicle. I would have gladly paid out of pocket to replace the defective radiator to save the transmission, but since I was not notified of the problem, now I have to potentially replace the transmission.
I was driving down my driveway and my truck just wouldn’t move I always fill my fluids and get flushes on time when I got my last oil change they said there was milked goo goo in my coolant.

2007 Nissan Frontier crew cab: entering the 100,000 mile marker the truck started to feel like it was skipping. Then the truck stalled while at the grocery store. I tried to get it started and after 15 minutes it did start. Aaa tested battery, starter and alternators. They were all fine. Later drove truck to continue grocery shopping and it stalled in the main traffic lane. Pushed truck to safer place. Then it started again. Autozone computer test revealed sensor p)335 and a recommendation to replace flywheel. Internet search revealed issues with power train and anti freeze entering the transmission due to faulty parts. Nearly 3000. Reports of same issue. Disappointed that Nissan did not take responsibility for their use of compromised materials in building their cars and trucks. If Nissan is using faulty or weak materials, then might as well buy american.
Transmission and coolant fluid contamination due to faulty radiator!.
You have to call the dealership Nissan in albuquerque nm on lomas I took the truck in and it's going to be about 5,000 to fix.
At 132,000 miles my transmission and radiator failed at the same time. I have come to understand that this is a known defect in Nissans. I did not know this was an ongoing problem with Nissans. The cost to repair is going to be more than $5000. This is terrible.
Got in my 2007 Frontier to go to work on Monday morning ,got about three blocks and pulled out onto the main street and my truck went from third gear back into 1st gear I was only doing the speed limit of 60km an hour, then limped it home to find out my rad was cracked ,I do take very good care of my truck and for this to go all of a sudden. I think Nissan should cover the cost . I only have 110 kms on it !!!.
Lost power to transmission while driving down road with grandson in car seat. Saw the ses (service engine soon) light and coasted off to side of highway. Very scary!.
My truck service ligth come on 09/25/2018 took it to a transmission mechanic he said there was antifreeze in the transmission the said was bad for that he said it would cost 2500 hundred to fix I've had this truck seen 2007 I never heard anything about this problem 😒.
Nissan Frontier transmission reverse went out in heavy traffic.
Cross-contamination between amy freeze in transmission fluid. Transmission mechanic quoted at $4000 to replace fix problem.
The radiator is defective and let's the anti-frezee mix with the transmission fluid.
Engine light came on, had checked by Nissan dealership, said antifreeze in transmission caused by bad lines in radiator, common problem with Nissan, said Nissan had an extended warranty on this problem, but ran out, would cost 6,000 to fix this problem.
Car stutters when I accelerate whil going uphill between 40 and 60 miles an hour. Dealership mechanic reported that the transmission fluid had been contaminated by the radiator failing. There are 102,000 miles on the vehicle. The dealership is charging $6,100 to repair a truck that is worth less than that. The dealership says that as I am 2,000 miles past the warranty, they will not discount the price of repair, even though this is a well documented issue. Neither the dealer I bought the truck from or the dealer performing maintenance for the last three years has ever mentioned or checked for the issue.
Takata recall transmission stop pulling I have water in my transmission no warning at all I was at a red light and it just stop going??.
The airbag started flashing and around 35-40 mph it feels like you are hitting rumble strips. Took the vehicle to the Nissan dealership and the radiator fluid is mixing in the transmission. Replacement of transmission and radiator is over $4,500.
Known issue with this car, cross contamination radiator to transmission. . Coolant leak into transmission. 6months over warranty.
In January 2018 my Nissan was running great . . . . Drove to work and when I came out to go home the truck wouldn't start. . My truck has been sitting since then. . Cant afford a new transmission but I was told it is the main board to the transmission. . I have power but it will not start. The vehicle remains in my garage. . . I had no warning before the this happened. Had to pay a tow fee straight to Nissan dealer for diagnostic and they told me it was my battery and starter. . We \replaced both and still nothing. I sure hope someone can help me because the cost to fix the problem as I was told was gonna be around $4500 they wanna replace the tranmission.
In the middle of driving down a busy public highway the transmission starts to go out with no signs leading up to failure.
Our 2007 Nissan Frontier's radiator leaked into our transmission and ruined our transmission at 110,000 miles. The vehicle started slipping and stuttering changing gears while we were driving and it then locked up when we pulled into a gas station and we could not shift the car into gear. The car had to be towed where the shop is telling us it needs a new transmission and radiator. When I called the Nissan dealership, they acknowledged this is a problem with this vehicle, but I am out of luck because it is no longer covered under warranty. The repair is over a $5200 fix. This is a direct result of a bad manufactured radiator, no fault of our own, and it has now ruined our truck.
When driving my 2007 Nissan Frontier with a 191000 miles and truck starts to slow down, it would down shift rough. Made appt for next day with mechanic. It still being the same day I drove my son to the park and came to a stop , truck down shift was rough again and service engine soon light came on, pushed on gas and truck felt like it lost power. Got to park a block away, turned truck off and it never started again. Towed to a mechanic . $1100 later, mechanic says tow it to the Nissan dealer for a diagnostic because the modular inside the transmission is not working and they can tell what's wrong. I get it towed to Nissan dealer for $90 and $450(3hrs of labor to diagnose truck) later, Nissan said radiator fluid cross contaminated with transmission and ruined it. Also found transmission fluid and engine oil in radiator. So the radiator and transmission needs to be replaced for $6800. Nissan dealer sends me service coupons, flyers to trade the Frontier for newer a model to my house. They also text and call. In 2012 they settled to extend power train warranty because of this problem. Why wasn't I informed of preventative maintence on a known defect.
A crack came in the radiator, forcing coolant into the transmission, damaging the transmission.
Takata recall. I went to go do a transmission flush. And mechanic says he cant flush it cause theres coolant mixed in with transmission fluid. Then engine light came on while driving home.
Coolant got mixed in with transmission fluid and truck stopped running.
My transmisin stop working a dont no tha problem.
A known issue was never corrected with my vehicle causing the coolant to leak into the transmission. Nissan knew of the problem and never did anything to notify me. Yet they still send me letters asking if I would like to trade in my vehicle. My vehicle broke down in ther exact way they described it would and still, they were unwilling to help with repairs.
Radiator leak resulted in replacing radiator and damaged transmission.
Radiator broke and mixed fluids- both trani and radiator. Trani broke as a result of it. I spent 5k to fix. I had a warranty I purchased from the dealership and it would honor the repair because it was caused by the radiator.
Defective radiator hose caused coolant fluid to seep into the transmission, damaging it entirely. Cost of repairs were $4200. 00. Nissan neglected to notify owners of defective part and the recall for 2005-2010 models. Over 2000 complaints were filed before Nissan took corrective action, which included extended warranty to 100,000 miles. However, mechanical issues will not manifest until well over 100,000 miles thus absolving Nissan from any responsibility or ownership.
Nissan recognized leak in radiator, leading to corrosion in transmission resulting in clunking shifting with automatic transmission, until transmission cannot shift by itself. Secret warranty bulletin put out but only to Nissan service centres and not shared with vehicles owners until to late for most. If they recalled or fixed the radiator, would not now need a new transmission repair for ~$7000. Truck will no longer go up hills unless one shifts as if it were manual.
Transmission radiator contamination. Loss acceleration on hi way.
