The antifreeze and transmission fluid got mixed together in my truck and I am now told that the manufacturer knew that the truck would at least give me 100,000 miles before that would actually happen.
Seat belt light stays flashing, tire light stays flashing, service engine light stay on even after dealer reset.
Transmission has water in it from the radiator leaking into it now I have to replace my transmission.
Ref recall 08v690000. Why would our truck not be part of this recall?. We live in an area which is surrounded by ocean so salt corrosion is common. I know several others that have similar issue not only Frontiers. I understand the front crash sensor corrosion is common. Please do something about this before someone gets hurt due to airbags or deploying due to this common sensor issue.
On the 22nd of July 2016, my 2008 Nissan Frontier deployed both sides of its curtain airbags. I was traveling at roughly 3-5 mph on freest road 618 outside of camp verde, arizona. The road had a slight inclin of maybe 1-2%, with slightly muddy ground due to it raining. My Frontiers front left tire rolled onto a rounded rock no taller than 4-5 inches tall and slipped off of it to the left. The slipping off of the rock was when the curtain airbags deployed. I was in the drivers seat driving the vehicle and my little brother was in the passenger seat. My little brother suffered a rug burn like scrape on his neck where the bag impacted him. There are no signs of impact anywhere on the truck which was confirmed by a Nissan dealership service dept.
The spare tire on the vehicle is held in place by a chain under the rear of the vehicle. Its hoisted into place from the back of the vehicle. When checking the air pressure in the spare tire, I found the spare tire rim badly rusted. I'm afraid that the rim's holes will ultimately become so large so as not to hold the lug nuts. If the spare with rusted lug nut holes that were too large, was installed on the vehicle, the spare could possibly come off while the vehicle was in motion. Furthermore, the anchor point on the spare tire hoist is also rusting badly. It may fail to support the spare tire which could then drop from the rear of the vehicle. If the vehicle was moving when it fell, it could bounce and strike the gas tank, possibly causing an accident.
My check engine light went on as I was driving home on a Sunday afternoon. With in an hour, and almost arriving home. . . The vehicle began to slow down and could not accelerate past 25mph. I stopped at a traffic light and felt a very large bang under the truck. As I tried to accelerate from the light I could only get up to 25mph. Then the truck stalled completely, in the middle of a busy street. Luckily no one was close behind me and I had my hazard lights on, otherwise this would have been a sure crash. I took it to a mechanic who checked and informed me that my radiator was faulty and had contaminated and ruined my transmission. I paid $2900 to have it fixed. No help, or money back from Nissan, not even an apology for their faulty parts.
There is some sort of emission control behind the rear tires. It seems to get plugged and engages my service light to come on. Well since I live on a dirt road it is almost impossible to keep it from being plugged. I've had to have it replaced three (3) different times. It really irritates me.
Engine intermittently flutters while in gear. I bought this vehicle while still under warranty; however, while it was being driven around the dealership for service, etc. It went over the 60,000 mile warranty. The dealer said they would still look at the problem and suggested that it may need a throttle adjustment. After speaking with the mechanic he said the throttle was within range and it was reported to him that all Frontiers and pathfinders have that problem. Someone should be able to force Nissan to fix this problem.
Trans cooler ruptured within radiator causing water/coolant to mix with transmission fluid destroying transmission.
