This issue is my radiator and tranmission contamination. First noticed heat didn't work. Mechanic checked radiator, found leak. Began installing new radiator and saw that coolant was already contaminating tranny. Truck dead at dealership. Called Nissan and they created a case. Denied. Escalated case. Denied. Started new escalation today. I have lost my job because I cant get there!!! what's next my home???? paid outright for this truck brand new. Drove all the way to maryland to get it. Less than 5 yrs old!!! but because my mileage was over the 80,000 they wont help. This product already had the flawed components when I drove it off the lot brand new so wtf should mileage have to do with it??? all the faulty sensors were annoying enough but this type of potential for failure should demand total recall. . . . Instead they issue warranty extentions and mileage limitations. I was never notified as a registered Nissan owner when this issue was supposedly sent out last fall. And even if I had been my milage was already over. That should not have mattered as this issue is such a safety and monetary concern. Luckily it didn't fail while I was driving home at 8pm doing 70mph or when I had my kids in it. All in one week I lost vehicle because of flawed product, my job because my flawed vehicle died and my reputation as a reliable and responsible employee. Heartbroken. I want my money back!!!!!!!!!!! never will I buy another Nissan. Greedy & irresponsible company with no sense of commitment to their consumers.
My Nissan was having issues so I took it to my mechanic. He informed me that Nissan was having an issue with a part that wore out and leaked coolant into transmission and transmission fluid into the radiator. I called my local dealership to see if it was recalled. They informed me I was a few thousand miles over my warranty and they could do nothing. I then saw the multitude of complaints about this issue and the dealership said Nissan paid for some vehicles out of warranty. That alone proves they knew about this issue. I paid for a new radiator ($600) and hoped for the best with my transmission. I am in the navy so I can't afford to replace the transmission. Now my luck has run out and I can no longer drive my vehicle. I have a 3 month old at home and need to have two cars for my wife. This is an issue Nissan knows about and it is due to a faulty part they installed. It could have been fixed ahead of time and solved a lot of issues. When is there going to be a recall? people are getting stranded and nisan and the government knows. Does someone need to die for you to notice and act? it would seem that people being stranded and spending thousands of dollars because of a manufacturing defect is not enough. I need to know if I have to go try to buy another car or wait and hope my government protects us.
2006 Nissan Frontier - steering wheel has become very loose, and physically moves, while operating vehicle. The steering has also become very tight and difficult to steer vehicle. A deadly combination!!!!!!!!!! came to a traffic signal, after traveling on the interstate for approximately 300 miles. While stopped I noticed alot of play in the steering wheel and steering became very tight at slow speeds. The movement in the steering wheel was very pronounced moving right and left up to two inches in either direction. I showed my wife and kids, who were in the vehicle, and I became very concerned for our safety, as we still had nearly 100 more miles to drive to reach our destination. No dealership was in our vicinity, so I drove vehicle back home two days later. On the return trip I was very aware and nervous for the safety of myself and family, I have never had a steering wheel move like that (and it shouldn't). Was concerned and very nervous the steering could either fail or the airbag could inadvertently deploy causing risk of injury or death to my family or other motorist. I called my local Nissan dealership (carriage Nissan, gainesville georgia) on 6-18-2012 to discuss my observations and they informed me they had not heard of any issues or problems with steering. Unfortunately for Nissan, after I investigated my issue on the internet, "I am now convinced that Nissan is well aware of these problems with steering issues, as they have been reported numerous times to Nissan USA corporate headquarters". According to the internet, by Frontier truck owners, Nissan dealers are replacing steering columns to fix this design and construction problem. It is of concern to me that the NHTSA has not forced Nissan to correct this potentially life threatening issue, by forcing a recall, since it appears Nissan has no intentions of voluntarily fixing their problem.
Coolant fron radiator entered transmission causing shuttering. Vehicle was brought to Nissan for repair. Engine coolant had entered the transmission causing failure to transmission. Coolant system was replaced and transmission was flushed. After 5000 miles the transmission had completely failed. The failure occured while attempting to accelerate from a stop sign in a dangerous intersection. The vehicle was stuck in 4'th gear. I accelerated from the stop sign but the vehicle would barely move leaving me exposed in a dangerous situation. A vehicle almost t-boned me as it came around the blind corner. Nissan has known about this defect for a long time. If I had known I could have replaced the coolant system before it entered the transmission. Now I am stuck with a bill of more than $5000 after already spending $2000 on a new coolant system and numerous transmission flushes. In my opinion Nissans neglect in notifying and remedying this defect is placing its custumers at great risk of injury and death due to this sudden loss of power.
The transmission cooler located in the radiator failed and now radiator has transmission fluid in it and the transmission has water in it. Both are ruined and dealer says it is $9000. Apparently this is a known defect only covered up to 80000 miles and Nissan needs to fix this. If it was a known issue, it could have been fixed for a few hundred bucks. Thank you.
The radiator in the vehicle ruptured, allowing coolant into transmission. This led to loss of power, hard shifting, and slippage while accelerating. Contacted Nissan, they informed me warranty had been extended but I was 1,600 miles over their arbitrarily extended limit. They suggested I contact the dealer for assistance. The delaer repeated that it was outside of warranty period, and estimated repair costs at $7000. I took truck to local shop, who quoted $5500, and now find out that the transmission parts are on backorder and I will be without my work vehicle for about 1 month. Nissan is clearly aware of this driveline failure issue, but they are attempting to push off the cost of their faulty parts onto the consumer, rather than remedy what is a costly and potentially very dangerous defect.
2005 Nissan Frontier 4x4 crew cab. Poor design of tailgate hinge assembly drivers side, appears that was designed to withstand lighter tailgate. As I understand Nissan has redesigned and changed tailgate assembly for 2006 and newer models. My wife was driving the truck and noticed the vehicle following came to a complete stop since the tailgate on my truck was dragging on the road and held partially still connected to truck body with cable assembly. Hinge appeared cracked and pulled from body of truck. Tailgate was always in locked position since we have issues with thieves in our area and was still in locked position when I took it out of truck bed. Obviously at higher speeds the failure of the hinge assembly could compromise the safety of following vehicles in the event the tailgate became removed and fell off onto roadway.
On 1 Nov 2001 I was coming back from ajo az. When my engine overheated as I was trying to pass a vehicle. About even with the other vehicle transmission started slipping and I noticed that the engine was over heating. I let off the gas and stopped as soon as I could and was almost rear ended. After stopping I discovered no water in radiator. I filled it from a 5 gallon can of water and made it to a gas station. The mechanic on duty told me that the radiator failed internally and that I had water and antifreeze in the transmission. Mechanic told me that he had several pathfinders and a few Frontiers with the same problem. I got on line and found hundreds of people with Nissans had the same complaint. I called the Nissan dealer and they said that that was not the case that they would replace the radiator and flush the transmission and it would be good to go. On line peoples complaints that I found said they were told the same and the transmissions still failed. Can I expect a recall to fix this problem?the waranty was up at 98,000 miles.
Drivers side rear axle seal failed allowing differential oil to leak onto brake pads and rotor. This is a very unsafe thing that could lead to reduced braking in an emergency and needs to be addressed.
I purchased the vehicle in 2007 with 40,000 miles on it. It has been shimmying on the highway since I hit 60,000 miles and in spite of having my tires re-aligned and balanced, it still continues to rock back and forth at speeds over 50 miles an hour. I just hit my 100,000 mile mark on the first of October. On October 18th, I was at my son's daycare and the truck started idling strangely. The truck was puttering and exhausting black smoke. It died in the parking lot and I tried numerous times to get it started. It took about 20 minutes of trying but I got it running again, only to have it die on me in traffic. Once again, I got it started and managed to get it home where it completely died. When I was able to get it to the dealership (after a local mechanic looked at it and couldn't get it started) the dealership told me I had an engine idle air control sensor that was recalled by Nissan. I never received the recall notice but was relieved that my bill was covered. Less than a week after the sensor had been replaced, the check engine light came on. I brought it back to the dealership and they told me my catalytic converters had burned out. From what I have been able to research online, the failure of my catalytic converters is directly related to an out of tune engine (too much air or fuel) which was caused by the sensor being defective. Nissan doesn't see it that way and now I'm stuck with a $3500 repair bill on a truck I still owe money on and have owned for less than four years.
Cruise control set at 50 mph, and as car started incline, accelerator engaged abruptly and rpm increased to maximum. Multiple attempts to brake and regain control of vehicle. Truck went off road on curve and head on collision with tree occurred. Driver had both feet on brake, yet was unsuccessful in slowing vehicle.
2010 Nissan Frontier. Consumer is afraid that this vehicle will have the same transmission problems his previous Nissan Frontier did.
Rear doors are falling apart, Nissan says they won't cover repairs because I live on dirt road , truck bed is splitting and falling apart , Nissan says it is because I haul hay in bed(pick up truck Frontier).
I purchased a 2005 Nissan Frontier in 2006. In 2010 I noticed my service engine soon light came on. I took my truck to a mechanic who put it on the computer to see what is going on. The computer read that the sensors were bad. I replaced all the sensors myself and still have the same problem. I have been reading online that this is a big issue with Frontiers. It's definately a safety hazard and causes problems when trying to get the truck to pass inspection. There needs to be a warning when an issue like this is happening for consumers.
Purchased new 2007 Nissan Frontier-v-6, long wheel-base truck. Expierienced brake problem at 20k miles, replaced by dealer, had low speed whine and brake pedal drop to floor and 35 to 40 mph judder and vibration. Went back to dealer, they checked and noticed the drive shaft was comming apart, they replaced with new one, idicated it was defective from vendor. I have had this truck back into dealer four times since with the same re-occuring problems. They can't find the source or the problem. Zone mgr. For midwest drove the vehicle and indicated that they can't find the problem and they will not replace anything else. I was told to take it to the bbb if I wanted a solution under current lemon laws. He also indicated it will probably fall apart down the road-complete and utter dis-regard for my safety. They are in complete denial that they have a problem with this vehicle. Is it just now that Toyota had a recall for broken/cracked yokes on tacoma's and Nissan is exempt? don't they all buy parts from dana corp. ? Nissan has experienced a large sales surge and are expanding just like gm had in the 70's. They don't have time/talent to take care of their problems just more new vehicles, more engineering problems, push it out the door and let the dealers take care of problems. This somehow has a familiar ring to it like Toyota's problem with acceleration! keep relieing on electronic controls to run the vehicles and take away control fromthe driver. The auto companies need to be investigated further for safety compliance as madison avenue commercials alude to the fact that all of these safety features that are incorporated into vehicles work flawsley when they actually don't! how many more people have to be killed or seriously injured with these so-called safe vehicles, made in USA with cheap china made parts! I'm sure there are more vehicles out on the road with these same re-occuring problems not being replaced or repaired due to mfgr. Defects and problems!!!.
A growing problem with our 2003 Nissan Frontier 4x2 purchased new from deland Nissan in florida. Over the past six months the factory original paint has begun to fail in numerous locations. It begins with a bubbling of the paint in a spot followed by flaking off of the outer color paint from the gray primer. The area of paint failure continues to expand with no end in sight. Attempts to work with our deland dealership have been unsuccessful since the vehicle was within the 3 year warranty but over the mileage allotment. Nissan north America district parts and service managers have both reviewed this situation and earlier photographs of the paint failure and have declined to repair the damage that is occurring from this factory defect in the painting of our vehicle. The failure of the paint in the area affected is growing rapidly. This failure is now occurring in three major areas with other areas showing the early signs of paint failure. We have taken this vehicle to two local paint and body shops to get an opinion as to what may be causing the failure. In both cases these paint experts believe that it is a failure of the exterior paint to effectively bond to the primer paint. This is a problem that occurred during the manufacturing process and not a result of outside elements that may have come in contact with the vehicle. When the paint starts to flake away from the vehicle it does so in a bubbling fashion from underneath the seal of the paint. I have researched the internet and find there are other owners of Nissan vehicles and the 2003 Nissan Frontier who have experienced the same problem with the factory original paint. This appears to be further evidence of a systematic problem in either the painting processes or the chemical combinations used to formulate your primers and paints. We have tried to appeal this local/regional decision on the failure of the paint on our Frontier through customer service operations, but have been unsuccessful.
2003 Nissan Frontier paint is chipping in 3 places with a 4th area bubbling.
I brought this car on February 25, 2006. The dealership completely lied to me . While I was signing the papers they told me that my payment plan was of three years. But they lied to me because it is really for six years. When I got home I notice so I return to the dealership and they didn't know what to say. They told me that now it was too late. That is the reason I want to cancel the purchase of this car.
I own a Frontier 2003 xe crew cab model, and one day running on the highway at about 90+ mph, suddenly it loose the traction that keep the vehicle in motion for a moment and back again. I think that truck chassis suddenly lost the weight that keep the truck aside to the ground caused by the air flow under the truck (aerodynamic effect) so I got very nervous because it could cause to loose control on the truck with causing potential injures to myself furthermore the incident came up with out notice. My first thought was that probably there were some problem with the fuel engine system but no light at the panel came on.
Do not, under any circumstance, do business with town north Nissan. Not only is their customer service awful, they can also get away with selling you the wrong vehicle! the bbb didn't help in my case, which is was very easy. After screwing up my purchase (that included a trade-in of a very nice 02 maxima) and dragging it out over a 6 week period, that involved no returned calls, lack of willingness to help, I ended up with a truck that was the wrong color. They refuse to take it back. Matter of fact, when I asked, they would not even offer to replace it with one of the right color. I complained to the bbb, took it to arbitration, and lost. That took 6 months! now I'm stuck with a truck in a color I absolutely hate. There is no justice for the little guy in the world. All I can do is spread the negative word. Don"t go to town north Nissan in austin, TX!!!! you will get screwed!!.
