In a no fault accident, I was passenger. When the collision happened, I was wearing seatbelt, and then I was up in the dash/ windshield, there were flames, smoke. The airbags had "exploded" the seatbelt was hanging out of the passenger door after I exited. Still dangling out the door where it did not retract. I busted the windshield with my head, concussion, four teeth porcelain knocked out of them, and many other problems. It's very scary , I want this to please be investigated because I don't want anyone else to have to go through this.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph in cold weather with the seat belt connected, the seat belt warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side seat belt assembly and the sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred to the NHTSA hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 89,333.

This past week my Nissan Frontier sv airbag warning light is flashing. I notice other Nissan models have had the same issue but with a recall campaign. I have not called the local service dealer, but I have contacted their consumer hotline, and they said I would have to pay. I have 45,000 miles. I just never saw an airbag go bad so early.
In summer 2023 driving on uneven country road in upstate new york hit a pothole and my airbag warning light came on. Then started to flash. Truck is still drivable but now the seatbelts no longer lock in place during a sudden stop did research online Nissan has a voluntary service campaign for this exact issue. Campaign id p7318 I made appointment with koeppel Nissan. Had to wait weeks then they canceled my scheduled appointment on September 4 and reschedule for September 12. Probably not safe to drive truck with airbag light on and seatbelt issues. I go to my regular mechanic. He tells me seatbelt retractors do not seem to be working. He tests them by extending seatbelt slowly. Then tugging hard. He said they should lock in place. They do not. He also put a scan tool into obd port. There are zero codes nothing showing why airbag light flashing. Informs me there is a 10 year warranty on seatbelts. He said wait for dealer to do their replacement of air bag diagnostic sensor unit. He said the airbags deploy in stages. Your light coming on is first stage second stage is seatbelt locking in place. Yours did not lock in place but your retractor might have been damaged or a sensor in buckle part of seatbelt related to airbags. On September 12 I bring truck in. The dealer first tries to tell me there is a diagnostic fee of $200. I refuse to pay telling them it is a Nissan voluntary service campaign and seatbelts are under warranty. They agree to waive fee. They call me up an hour or two later said “they are unable to perform recall the software update is no longer available. The problem with seatbelt related to software or sensor unit”. I complain to Nissan of America. The person on phone tells me a manager will call me back and e mail me. Case number 49514132 I have never received a call or e mail from anyone at Nissan regarding this safety issue. Perhaps a full recall is necessary for all affected vehicles under campaign id p7318.

I purchased my 2022 Nissan Frontier on June 30, 2022. The driver's seat belt, as well as the passenger seat belts, have the fabric loop. In researching this issue, all the articles I have read indicate that the driver's seat belt should not have the loop. Is this something that is a safety issue?.

Have gone to Nissan for excessive rattle noise in passenger footwell would sound louder as I gave it gas they concluded that the heater core bracket was loose and tighten but sound did no go away took it in again heater core bracket not good would need to replace so had to take it in third time for same heater core issue eventually they replaced heater core but still have problems with the air was taken to Nissan over 7 times for climate problems. It was not equal driver side blew hotter than the that passenger side eventually it stop blowing air through front vents only the defrost vent works seat adjusting bracket did not lock in place when coming to a stop the passenger seat would slide forward defective Nissan replaced --few month later passenger seatbelt tensioner went bad check engine error code took it to Nissan was replaced by Nissan Nissan service mechanics driving car with defective seatbelt that no issue until part came in same with bracket I had to take them on a ride they kept saying they cant recreate problem as far as climate its been a heat wave over 98 degrees outside and I'm having to drive in a hot car these problems have been since first day I drove car home I've been to service center over 12 times don't feel safe with vehicle I have spoken to Nissan arbitration dept enter jessica willis car currently has no air and they are aware of my situation and the heat wave that im having to deal with.

My air bag light kept flashing on my 2011 Nissan Frontier pro 4x4, I had it looked at when I got my oil changed and was told that it is a malfunction where you click the seat belt into, the light is off now but once some one sets in the passenger side seat and puts the seat belt on the light will come back on, due to malfunction in the seat belt, and if I would get into a accident and some one is sitting in the passenger side the seat belt will not properly secure them.

One morning I arrived at work and my seat belt would not disengage after struggling with it for 10 minutes I had to cut it to get out I had no prior problems with seatbelt until that morning I took my vehicle to Nissan but they are saying they will not cover it apparently because I had cut it and they are also saying that something could of been stuck in the locking mechanism u assure you there was not it's an excuse they are using to not pay for it if I had been in wreck or fire I could have died .
Seat belt light on the dash turned on and continued flashing. The diagnosis read on it was tensioner on system restraint. Sensor was replaced but the srs light continued to flash and now has locked my seat belts. Driver's seat belt will not release so I have been having to drive without a seat belt. All wiring on sensors on the seat belt and under the seat have been checked and are fine so there must be a faulty sensor someplace or an electrical issue causing the seat belt to lock in place.

The driver's side seatbelt does not retract correctly. I contacted a local dealership and Nissan America. The dealership gave me an estimate, without seeing the truck of $100-$1500. 00 to replace the current seatbelt. This is a safety issue and should be for the life of the vehicle, not based on the milage/age of the vehicle. I will certainly let all know about nisaan's lack of concern for the general public which choose to purchase their cars, new or used! not good customer service. I had a Honda accord that was 20+ years old and Honda replaced the seatbelt and assembly for free, being it was a safety issue!!!!!.
I have repeatedly gotten indicators (via vehicle's computer) of air bag failure, on a vehicle of low mileage, which has never been in an accident, and has gotten failures regarding the front passenger seat, which is rarely used. The first time, the dealer replaced the seatback and airbag under warranty. The second time the dealer replaced the seatbelt assembly. How, the 3rd time, they tell me that the same seat - cushion needs to be replaced, along with the airbag, and that I have to pay over $2,000 for this. Each time I get this failure notification, my airbag is disabled. So, it is an ongoing issue. The air bag failure light keeps coming on randomly, not related to a driving incident.
Seat belt light stays flashing, tire light stays flashing, service engine light stay on even after dealer reset.

In early 2018 the airbag warning light began flashing. I brought my vehicle in to my certified mechanic to identify the issue. The issue was determined to be the right front seat belt assembly. I am told the issue with the seat belt assembly impacts the deployment of the airbag and the mechanism that prevents the seat belt from spooling out when an accident occurs. I had the part replaced on may 29, 2018 by my certified mechanic with a Nissan oem part that came from larry miller Nissan in denver colorado. The issue was fixed and the warning light went away. Slightly more than 1 year after the repair, the new part failed. Nissan will not stand by their part, they only warrant it for 1 year, but I am more concerned that there is something wrong with the design or manufacturing of the part. A safety part like this should not fail, let alone twice.
Went into dealer to change passenger seat belt under life time warranty. Dealer said passenger seat belt was bad. Driver seat belt was replaced life time under warranty 5 months before. They said part seatbelt passenger was no longer in production and to call Nissan. I called Nissan and was given a case number. They told me they were searching for the part. Weeks go by with no official update but they changed the reps 2 times. The last Nissan representative diamond milan 615-725-7385 contacted me April 15th saying they could not find the part and would pay $800 for the trucks back. I questioned on why they would stop producing a lifetime warranty safety device passenger seat belt when it clearly could be a danger to rider in the passenger seat. Nissan had pictures of the truck and how great of condition it is. I told them I just wanted a seat belt fixed under the life time warranty not to give away my truck for $800 when which has line-x, nav and tow for work. I asked diamond milan how does that help me? she said that was kelly blue book was $800. When I looked it was $4k not $800. I asked why the seat belt mechanism can't be fixed. She said that "I" would have to find a dealer to do that. Would not answer my question on getting 2nd option. Any question after she would not answer.

The passenger seat warning light. And seat sensor malfunctioned and now the passenger seat belt will not engage. I cannot have a passenger in my truck because of thi problem. I don't understand how thi could be safe at all. The manual says that when this happens to bring it in to the dealer because the sensor and the seat belt latch must be replaced. I've owned. Many vehicles in my life and never ever had a seat belt failure like this . This is dangerous what if this occurs when I have a passenger in the vehicle and the seat belt. Unmatched or won't unmatched. How can this be safe. No one gets into my vehicles without putting on the seat belts in n. Y. It is a violation.
Transmission burning fluid smell, when driving at normal speed seat belts don't recoil seats too low.

Light flashing on dash which appeared to be the airbag. Mechanic did diagnostic test said it needs seat belt assembly replacement.
Set belts at time are hard to get off and airbag light blinks on and off.
The seatbelt has been replace two time and the airbag light is still on, now you got to replace the seat cusion this cost 1766. 67, this is a safety issue. Me and my wife was in lake city s. C. On hw 52 and the air bag starting flashing for the second time.
Seat belt buckle will not engage seat belt buckle. Nissan dealer maintenance department examined, says buckle must be replaced ($200, outside 30,000 mile warranty).

Ongoing dispute with manufacturer and dealer. The vehicle has no lower latch brackets to attach a child seat . The dealer service manager stated that the vehicle was exempt from the regulation. The only exemptions I see in the statute are for schoolbuses. Convertibles, and vehicles with a gvr of 8500 lbs or over. My Frontier has a gvr of about 6500 lbs. Please advise me if this is correct.

On October 29, 2016 my airbag light came on and stayed on. Took it to jenkins Nissan of leesburg FL. They charged me $95. 00 to check the problem, then said it would be $800. 00 to replace the module but if that didn’t work the next thing they could try would be $1,000. 00, but they could not guarantee that it would fix the problem. Then my tire pressure light came on and stayed on about 3 years ago…same scenario with jenkins Nissan… you pay us, but no guarantee that they can fix it. Then my horn stopped working about a year ago. Same scenario with jenkins Nissan. I took my truck to another mechanic, everything is fixed for one price. The problem with everything was evidently connected. These issues in my opinion are safety hazards and should be recalled.

On the weekend September 17 2016 a red air bag light on my dashboard was and is blinking intermittent. I called three Nissan dealers and was informed that it is most likely the OCS sensor. Upon asking about the recall on Nissan OCS sensor I was told that the Frontier was not on the recall list. We feel that the OCS sensor on any Nissan vehicle should be on the recall list,no matter where the Frontier was manufactured. The red blinking light came on as we were going home. After I was told that the Frontier was on the list I was informed that the sensor would cost me $1180. 00 we feel that this is not right or fair.
On the 22nd of July 2016, my 2008 Nissan Frontier deployed both sides of its curtain airbags. I was traveling at roughly 3-5 mph on freest road 618 outside of camp verde, arizona. The road had a slight inclin of maybe 1-2%, with slightly muddy ground due to it raining. My Frontiers front left tire rolled onto a rounded rock no taller than 4-5 inches tall and slipped off of it to the left. The slipping off of the rock was when the curtain airbags deployed. I was in the drivers seat driving the vehicle and my little brother was in the passenger seat. My little brother suffered a rug burn like scrape on his neck where the bag impacted him. There are no signs of impact anywhere on the truck which was confirmed by a Nissan dealership service dept.
Side airbags deployed while my wife was driving on a smooth county road without a collision at approximately 20 mph. Driver only in the vehicle, ears are ringing. Had to cut the air bags to be able to drive the vehicle home. In drive way, unusable at this point. Seat belt retractors activated so cannot use seatbelt at this point.
Child seat latch restraint system design is faulty for crew cab models. The anti tilt attachment point is low behind the seatback on the Nissan Frontier crew cab. To attach the strap you must tilt the seatback forward. You cannot adequately tighten the strap on most car seats, since attempting to do so causes the seatback to return to the upright position and you cannot completely tighten the strap before having to remove your hand. If the excess strap is long enough, the child seat becomes permanently mounted, because, then, you cannot tilt the seatback forward to access the strap tension-release mechanism.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Frontier. While starting the vehicle, the front passenger side air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that both the seat belt and the air bag seat cushion sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
Nissan has failed to do an inline laser radar inspection, or proper inspections on some assembly of its trucks. I purchased a defective Frontier king cab s automatic and Nissan has not yet agreed to take it back. The truck bed or cab is off by 9mm or more. Bolts and welds were not properly aligned during assembly and nor were checked for quality and consistency after assembly and then sold to consumers with faults as there are several of these trucks out there with this defect. I found 2 at another dealer which were free from this defect. That is the vehicle I wanted. While driving down the freeway at 60mpg or less, there is a shake or imbalance in the steering, and needs constant adjustment. It seems to veer off to the right when the steering wheel is in a straight position. This could be caused by the whole truck being out of alignment or even just the truck bed. After reporting it to Nissan, they told me to take it to the service shop and have it documented. It was reported to me that in their database this crooked bed has come up and they attempted to but were unable to repair it. I was told disassembling the body of a vehicle is not only dangerous but is damaging, so they told me this is how Nissan makes them, nothing they can do. But since then I found some without flaws, so what he said is not true. My truck's driver side has a large gap between the back of the cab and the truck bed 9mm off. The cab door on my truck leaked water into the seat belt chamber, soaking and staining the seat belt, and also has a defective driver's seat which has a one inch gap between the chair back and seat cushion. This is not normal on other exact models I looked at and photographed. This is not the way the engineers designed this model of trucks. I was told that the driver seat defect also is simply how Nissan designed it another lie. Rust is also an issue.
Passenger seat belt light flashes on, dealer says connected to computer under passenger seat (reset several times), light still flashes, dealership service says problem with seat sensor and not sure if air bag on passenger side will work or defective (want $800 to $3,000 to diagnose-fix-replace), Nissan corporate refuses to fix (says out of warranty), technician unable to say if air bag will deploy in an accident, service manager I deal with told me she had seen at least 10 similar problems with similar vehicles (x 8 service writers means at that dealership alone they have had at least 80 complaints in a month of the same nature x all dealerships??), Nissan corporate sent me a $250 gift card for other services at the dealership but refuses to acknowledge or address or attempt to fix a problem they admit they know they have (and I am only referring to Nissan Frontiers - not all other Nissan vehicles). May be a problem with the air bag or a problem with the computer or a problem with the seat sensor or an electrical issue.
My side impact air bags deployed with no impact - no reason in March of 2014. Same exact thing occurred again in November of 2014. Nissan took responsibility + had items repaired, but I am concerned about why this is repeatedly happening + I'm afraid of it happening again!.
The seat belt warning alarm, not sure what you would call it, stopped sounding when the seat belt was not clicked. The vehicle was taken to the service department where the truck was purchased new. The truck was still under manufactured warranty. The service department told us the vehicle was not equipped with this. Of course it was working when the truck was purchased, we would never purchase a vehicle without this feature. We have tried to find the federal law stating this must be part of a vehicle after a certain date, but have not had any luck. We would appreciate any information . Thank you.
Drivers seat belt has been loose. If the driver is in a car crash the seat belt will not protect driver because it does not lock.
The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the seat belt on the driver side locked up and would no longer retract. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 138,000.
