The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
While driving, the turbo on the vehicle failed and caused the engine to fail, including sudden loss of an ability to accelerate. Smoke began coming from the hood in addition to horrendous sounds. There were no warning lights on my dashboard but I had begun to hear a high pitched, unusual sound. My safety and my passengers, as well as other drivers on the road were at risk due to traveling on a highway and the sudden inability to maintain speed. The dealer has confirmed the problem and multiple auto shops have confirmed this is a known problem with the vehicle year, make, and model. The car is low mileage (just over 63,000) and all have informed me that the mechanical failure is a manufacturing problem and of no fault of my own. The dealership has declined to provide any assistance due to being out of warranty, which is not the question at hand - the question is the manufacturing failure. I do not have anything in writing but could obtain from both Nissan of richmond (dealership) and I have a case number with Nissan - #48625064.

Description: while driving the Nissan Juke the car will suddenly loose power. This appears to happen after having the a/c on for a while and driving speeds exceeding 50mph. At this time once you let go of the gas, begin to break, or just slow down. The car will stall. At this time if you attempt to press on the gas the car will not respond. I will be stall. The problem appears to be reproduceable due to all the complaints that have been listed on forums and on your site.

Car has just 45,000 miles on engine. Purchased new from pohanka Nissan in salisbury MD 2013. Now has turbo charger failure. Lost power suddenly on highway traveling 60 mph. Taken to Nissan dealer who states that a nut backed off of the fan in the turbo charger causing damage not only to the turbo charger, but to two of the engine cylinders. Seems unreasonable that this could occur in the absence of a mechanical error during construction of the car. No prior engine problems. Car is essentially totaled as repair will cost more than the car cost new.

My car after 80,000 miles started to have severe engine and driving issues. I was in a construction zone on a highway with the speed limit of 75mph and my transmission started to act up. I was low on gas so I filled it up and when I start back on the highway it would gain no speed and the rmp's would shoot up to 6. I road on this road for about 15-20 minutes at 35-50 miles per hour until I could find and exit and a side road to get me to a safe stopping point. I had to shut my car off two time during the duration and both times there wasn't a shoulder so I was in the grass. It was incredibly unsafe, and I found out two of my best friends had this same exact thing happen with their car. Since they have quit making this car and I have found most of the models made have recalls, I find it irresponsible to not inform everyone that has purchased this car of potential issues. I am a 23 years old women and it is remarkably unsafe to think I have a reliable care that out of no where breaks down, after I have done my due diligence to keep it in the best shape.
Car has 64000 miles and while it was driven the timing chain broke and bent the valves . I called Nissan and there is no recall even there is too many complaints like mine . New engine $5000. Where is the quality Nissan used to have . With this and cvt transmission issues you need think twice and may be switch to Hyundai or kia ,at least they have 100000 miles bumper to bumper warranty.
My 2013 Juke sl broke down while I was driving. The car slowed down and then came to a stop and wouldn't start. It was towed to a Nissan service dealership. They found that the engine timing chain broke and damaged my engine. I waited weeks to hear back from Nissan corporate office. They will do nothing. I bought the car brand new and doesn't have 60,000 miles on it. The Nissan dealership will give me 500. 00 for trade in. 2011-2013 Jukes have had this faulty timing chain. I can't believe Nissan won't do anything for me.
Since purchasing my 2013 Nissan Juke I have continually had problems driving on the hwy, especially when it's hot out, driving my car on major hwy (I-5 interstate), I drive from CA to or about 5 times a year my car will suddenly, no warning light, decelerate from 70 mph to 30 mph almost causing me to get in a accident every single time it happens right now I'm on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere and I'm just hoping that my car is going to start again I barely made it to the off-ramp this is a documented all over the web by hundreds of owners! the 2013 Nissan Juke this turbocharger or whatever it is with the engine that is making this happen is so serious I could die on the freeway and I don't want to die when Nissan should be replacing these it's a known fact and Nissan is not acknowledging it if you look at the blogs and other complaints online you will see thousands of people have complained about it too I don't want to die because of this and I can't afford to put in a new turbo charger or a new engine in my car when this is a known issue!! Nissan has a legal responsibility to replace these parts for us for their customers and our suffering from this. It is beyond an accident waiting to happen when you were on an interstate freeway in your car goes from 70 miles an hour down to 30 or 40 and will barely go over that you can barely even get off the side of the road without getting run over by major huge trucks it is a total safety problem and it needs to be addressed. There are no warning lights or anything that even shows you what it could possibly be and people who go to Nissan and say this happened they always say the same thing well it didn't happen for us while we were driving it so we don't know what it is they know very well exactly what it is. Thousands or hundreds of people who are complaining about this are all not lying.
While driving at 80 mph on the highway, I was unable to maintain speed. I suddenly lost abilities to control my speed. I proceeded to pull over and shut the car off. Restarted minutes later with no warning lights present. This happened several times getting the car to a rest stop. I believe it's the torque converter in the transmission that maybe the issue.
Car lost power as turbo failed while traveling in 70 mph traffic on interstate 90.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Juke. While driving 40 mph, the engine seized and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to sansone Nissan (90-100 us-1, avenel, NJ 07001, (888) 437-1763) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 94,131.
My car shakes a lot and want to concow out a lot, and I took it into a shop and they said that have some codes on there too need to be fix.
Timing chain broke on a 5-year-old, 72,000 car. The 2013 Nissan Juke's have a history of defective timing chain, yet Nissan would not give aid for repair of my car.
Turbo-charge problem car slows down and stops while driving.
Turbo charger failure.
Different days. Car died while driving straight 30 mph in town on main st. Car died in middle of the road, was unable to start the car again. After repeated pushing of the ignition start button the car finally started. / car was parked at home in the driveway, I got in to leave and the car would not start, again repeatedly pushed the start button and it finally started, this has happened 5+ times. / driving on interstate 80mph car would not rise above 3000 rpm and would not accelerate above 45mph. Pulled the car over turned it off for 15 mins restarted and it was normal again. Happened 10+times. / upon starting the smell of fuel is strong inside of the car, sometimes while driving in town the smell of fuel is there. When the car turns off the smell fades away. Happens almost daily.
While driving my vehicle at higher speeds (65-75) it randomly loses power. There is no reaction when I step on the gas so I have to carefully steer out of traffic before the car comes to a complete standstill. This happens several time while on a 100 mile trip. Once pulled over I have to wait several minutes before the gas pedal responds but then after several more minutes it happens again. I have been to two different Nissan dealerships only to be informed since it did not happen to them while test driving it and it did not show up on their computer there was nothing they could do. I cannot drive it anymore or sell it to an unsuspected new owner who could possible get severely injured or die due to this problem.
We purchased a brand new Nissan Juke 2013, including a maintenance and service contract. Over the past 3 years the Nissan Juke has refused to start dozens of times. We are petrified that it will stop running while we drive it. Often it will not even start with jumper cables. Despite having the Juke in and out of the Nissan dealership shop over the last three years, Nissan has been completely unable to determine and fix the defect. Each time Nissan simply charges the battery, or replaces it. On at least 8 separate occasions Nissan has cleared the Juke as ok to drive, only to have it fail to start within several months. We have been stranded many times, and now carry jumper cables and 2 hand held power starters, though these often fail to start the car. We do not want to resell this vehicle on the used market to unsuspecting consumers since the Juke in its defective condition is clearly a serious hazard to users and others on the road. We asked Nissan on April 12, 2017 to repurchase the vehicle, but they refused by letter dated April 21, 2017 since our lemon law only protects buyers for 20 months from purchase. We have a complete spreadsheet with attached invoices with complete details of all Nissan's attempts to fix the Juke and their excuses. This Nissan Juke has been the most unreliable and dangerous car we have ever owned, and Nissan's failure to adequately fix this defective car over the past 3 years has been shameful. This vehicle should be taken off the road before someone gets killed. While we were able to upload the spreadsheet, the exhibits were too large, and can be emailed on request.
I am very angry. . I wish I had done my research before purchasing my 2013 Nissan Juke. The extended warranty is a joke. My son and I were nearly in an accident on the highway due to the faulty turbo. The car began to decelerate and went from 65mph to below 20mph. Nissan is declining the claim. I even submitted proof of oil changes and etc. . . I have registered a complaint to Nissan since this has happened, I did research. Juke's from 2011-2014 have turbo issues. How can all these people be wrong?? the 1st time, happened in March. I took it in to the shop and they 'repaired" the car. Then it happened again. This time they are saying it is the turbo. . I registered a complaint with Nissan case #22368872 they said they will call me tomorrow. I need this resolved. It is very scary and dangerous.
While parked in our driveway for more than 30 hrs, my 2013 Juke burst into flames. The fire dept did not find any evidence of arson or tampering and there was no weather occurrence to explain why it became engulfed in flames. The fire started in the engine compartment at 12:40am. Nissan has said that they examined the car and their technical specialist found " no evidence of a product problem, failure, or malfunction that may have caused or contributed to this incident". Nissan will not tell me why the car burned up, just they're not responsible. Why would a low milage, well maintained vehicle catch fire unless there was some kind of product failure? I was lucky that only property was damaged but I feel Nissan USA is not taking the incident seriously.
