Automatic Emergency Braking problems of the 2019 Nissan Kicks

Driving in various times either oncoming snow fall facing car, or blowing wind facing car. Automatic emergency braking system error shows with 2 car collision light shows. With error coming on car doesn't accelerate or limps very very slow (pull over eventually to the right to stop). Also follows with an engine code. P0101 mass air flow sensor out of range.

1. The system that failed is the traction sensor light and the mass flow air system and the collision sensor light and yes its available for inspection 2. I was driving down 75 north to 400 north in georgia on April 15th 2025 at 3:39pm in rush hour traffic with my autistic in the car with me and the collision light and the traction sensor light came on and then the car suddenly stopped in the middle of traffic and I had to restart it. From there I had to keep the car in motion or it would have stopped on me again with my son in the car with me. And then on Sunday April 13th the check engine light and the traction sensor light and the collision sensor light came on. 3. Yes the problem has been confirmed and reproduced 4. The vehicle has been inspected by "others" a meineke on roswell rd 5. No there were not an warning lamps or messages or symptoms of problem prior to failure.

The abs module turn on. The car have only 22,000 miles. And 4 years.

The abs control module is working intermittently. Nissan states that they have a problem with this so much that there is a backorder on the item. The replacement cost from the manufacturer is between $1500 and $2000.

It all started when the electrical system just shut down. Then I had issues with the door locks not working and that electrical system not working. Then the car just stopping - shut off while driving. That was the worst. It just shut off and I could not get it to start again until I let it sit for a few minutes. Spent thousands of dollars on what the Nissan dealers said was wrong, but the issues just kept happening. Now all the lights on the dashboard are lit up, abs, sensor, tracking, warning. I am attaching a picture for review. After spending so much money on this, I did some research and it seems that this is a continuing issue for Nissan Kicks 2019. Please help, I am tired of spending so much money and not fixing the issue.

While driving the car with not weather events, at regular highway speeds the instrument panel began showing a variety of warning symbols the instrument panel contains the following warning lights: master warning light, abs warning light, aeb system warning light, slip indicator light, and a written warning panel instructing to see the owner's manual for a malfunction. There is also a front collision icon visible. These lights used to come on and off sporadically but now stay on the entire time the car is turned on. I have read literally hundreds of complaints from kick's owners stating that their dealerships either: say that it is a known issue without a solution. Say they have been provided a guide to find the solution. Say they know what needs to be done to correct the problem. In every single instance, when the Kicks owner agrees to have repairs/part replacements done, the problem returns. Often, the very next day. The lack of a proven fix for this problem is so wide spread that many people, myself included, are not letting the dealerships make the suggested repairs/ replacements because the cost of allowing what is essentially useless troubleshooting is very high. Typical "solutions" are to change the battery, replace the abs module, clean or replace the mass air flow sensor, clean front or rear collision sensors, replace throttle body, replace throttle body gasket. . . . . Because this problem is very well known in owner, dealer, mechanic, reddit etc forums, affects thousands of vehicles and relates to critical safety components, I believe an investigation, recall is warranted. There is no way to be sure the anti-lock or emergency braking system will work when needed. How is this allowable? for reference, my 2019 Nissan Kicks has fewer than 15,000 miles and has never been in an accident.

The car has massive acceleration during shifting in the transmission and the car suddenly stops during driving and loses the power to accelerate.

Warning lights indicate abs and slippery road assist not functioning intermittently.

During times of weather rain or ice, the aeb system malfunctions. First the slip indicator light comes on. Then a message says that there is a malfunction and to see manual. Next the aeb light will come on. Once both lights are on, the car shudders. Steering is difficult at this point. Next the battery light and oil lights will turn on then the car shuts off while driving. You can no longer hear the engine and acts as if the car was not started. When this occurs I often have to find safety or attempt to “jump start” by shutting the car off completely then turning it back on. The incident repeats itself but will go away after weather is clear. This is a major safety risk specifically while driving and the car shudders then cuts off completely while in drive.

Front crash sensor comes on occassionally, drive train is now knocking, and radio now has a mind of its own won't display will just randomly increase volume.

I bought the Nissan Kicks in April 2019, with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. At 34,710 miles the abs system comes on. I took the car to the technician authorized by the manufacturer. He detects a code, c1110-04, and recommends that I replace the abs controller and actuator. That's over a $4,000 repair for a car that only has 34,710 miles on it. I think the problem is a safety issue since the abs works with the car's brakes. The technician told me that if it is not fixed, the brake system may not be working properly. Since I bought the car, there has been no sign of the problem. The first time I saw the problem was on sept 29, 2022.

Vehicle is new, the collision sensors come on for no reason, 3 times a month, sensors come on car stalls and turns off, once restarted sensor warning is gone, then your able to drive, keeps happening.

Car malfunctioned cut off while driving no speed braking barely works consistently malfunctions atleast 5 times a week can’t go over 60 without it malfunctioning.

Then the yesterday (9/26/2021) the vehicle suddenly braked on its own while she was driving. She added that there was no vehicle or object in front of the vehicle at the time of the self-braking. This is a serious safety concern. After research into this matter, I have learned that both Nissan and the national highway traffic safety administration are aware of the situation but have yet to issue a recall for the faulty aeb in a number of their models. On March 14, 2022, my daughter was stationary at a stop light (warner & jewel street). Once the light turned green, she released the brakes and started to accelerate. However, the warning lights came on and the vehicle immediately braked on it's own. The vehicle behind her (Jeep wangler) did not stop in time and struck her Nissan Kicks causing heavy damage to the rear. Like the other incidents, there were no vehicle or obstacles in front of her to warrant the vehicle to immediately brake. The issue is a serious problem. We have read other reviews with other people having this problem with their Nissan vehicles. I have absolutely no faith in this vehicle and will no longer allow my daughter to operate it. My hope is that Nissan will be forced to research and address the issue. As consumers we deserve safety and to be compensated for this incident.

Car has an issue where the automatic emergency braking system (aeb) and the vehicle dynamic control off(vdc) lights simultaneously go on the dashboard. Shortly after the car will stall while idle at red lights. Car will also have trouble going above 2500 rpm when this happens. Causing the car to drive very slow in traffic. Becomes very hard to get to a safe place to park putting myself and passengers in danger. The check engine light for mass airflow sensor will also go off. When replaced it doesn't fix issue. The check engine light will go off again for (mas) or intake air temp sensor. Neither can be fixed by replacing these parts. Reading forums many people are having this exact issue with the 2019 Nissan Kicks s. Brought my car to Nissan for issue. They could not figure out the problem in order to fix it. This has been a recurring issue since 2021 with no intention by Nissan to fix it.

Front impact warning light comes on and affects the cruise control and tries to stop without anything in front of car. This car only has 4200 miles and has been in shop 5 fives for the same thing and all Nissan dealership does is clear code, adjust sensors and/or calibrate sensors but never changes out sensors. There is already several class action lawsuits with Nissan on front sensor and this malfunction. This is clearly a hazard driving the car and is a safety issue to drive since this car can try to stop when nothing is in front of car.
