Rear windshield shattered into pieces when the vehicle was started.
My back windshield shattered by itself.
On Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 6:41am, I was going to starbucks located at 5378 w. Rosecrans Ave hawthorne, CA 90250. My partner and I were talking, I was just about to exit to get my coffee then we heard a loud “pop” like a gun shot, and then the sound of shattering glass. We jumped, frighted, startled by the sound, immediately looking over at the back seat of my car window. We both exited the car, a man who was outside of the front of my car (just walking by coming out of starbucks) heard the same sound, he exclaimed “what was that a gun shot?”, we both thought it was an active shooter! I ducked and took cover. I was scared for my life. I noticed a women exiting her car across from mine, assumed it was safe. I asked her if she saw anything. She seen I was shaking up, and my window was shattered. She did not see anything. She asked if we needed assistance to contact the police department. Starbucks employees and witnesses assisted as we were unsure as to what was going on, and worried. I suffer from epilepsy and asthma and I have health problems. It was a lot to take in at that moment; my partner was concerned for me as I was for him. The thoughts of being killed kept running through our minds, and so thankful to be alive, we were completely traumatized! we had to get.
I was driving to work around 3:15 am on 1/20/26 when my back windshield exploded! there was no warning. I did have my defrost on. I thought someone had shot or thrown something at my car. I called the service department at my dealership and even spoke the service manager. He recommended that I speak with consumer affairs, which I did. I was told to file and insurance claim. Not only that, my window cannot be replaced with an identical window. Mine was tinted from the factory and they do not sell that window. I'll have to pay even more to have my window tinted to match the rest of the car. I did google this subject and I see that many Nissan vehicle owners have had the same thing happen to their cars. Also I see where a class action lawsuit has been opened. I want Nissan to take responsibility. I was driving on a bridge in the dark - the noise it made was loud.
Back glass shattered while sitting under the carport. It was around 30 degrees outside when it happened. No rock or bullet hole.
The rear body vent seal failed, allowing water to enter the vehicle interior. This component is available for inspection. I noticed a sloshing water sound, and over time there was excess interior moisture, including repeated interior window frosting that required scraping for visibility. A Nissan dealership later confirmed water intrusion and interior mold contamination affecting the driver-side floor, rear seating area, and trunk. The presence of mold inside the cabin poses a health risk to occupants, and ongoing water intrusion creates a potential risk to vehicle electrical systems and other components. The issue was confirmed by a Nissan dealership through inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle has been inspected by Nissan service personnel. No police or insurance inspection was related to this issue. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts indicating water intrusion prior to discovery. The only symptom was the sloshing water sound, which prompted inspection.
I purchased a 2024 Nissan Kicks from courtesy Nissan of tampa ( florida) on 7/6/2024. I have 4011 miles on this vehicle. I should preface this letter with letting it be known that I have owned in the past a Nissan 1998 frontier prick up/ 2004 xterra, a 2012 sentra, 2014 crew cab frontier pu, a 2019 crew cab frontier pu , a 2019 Nissan Kicks - none of these vehicles have had the issue I currently have with this new car. It is a bit difficult to describe -so bear with me. The area where you put the gas pump nozzle into he the gas tank opening is loose. It moves when filling up the tank. I have never had this issue with any of the other Nissans I have owned. I took this car back to the dealer ship on Saturday 9/14 to have this checked out. I was told that this is not uncommon. I beg to differ with this perspective. I was told the mechanic " went to several other Nissans and found that they too moved" well as I was sitting looking into the bay where my car was up on the rack watching the 2 people that were looking under my car - I did not see either of these 2 go anywhere. I believe that this is a dangerous situation as gas could spill over into this area and cause a fire if it hit a hot area under my car. I feel that the dealership was very indifferent to this possibility. As I was watching these 2 people in the mechanic bay - I did a little googling.
While driving my 2024 Nissan Kicks, I experienced an unexpected issue where the vehicle shifted from park to reverse. As usual, the doors automatically unlocked when I pulled up, and I exited the vehicle. However, just as I stepped out and turned away, the car unexpectedly jumped from park into reverse, causing critical injury to me. I have obtained an attorney.
