2 Suspension problem of the 2018 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 09/03/2025

I purchased a 2018 Nissan Kicks with under 6k miles from atlanta luxury motors (alm marietta) on April 29, 2022. The dealer failed to disclose the car was a canadian import, which voided the manufacturer’s warranty and left me responsible for unsafe defects. At under 30,000 miles, the suspension (struts) failed and had to be replaced, and by 60,000 miles the cvt transmission began showing fault codes, slipping, and jerking, creating serious safety risks while driving. The undercarriage also showed early rust. These problems were confirmed by independent mechanics and service centers, and I have paid over $3,000 in repairs and will inquire more if transmission has to be replaced costing between 6-8k. The vehicle’s defects put me and others at risk of loss of control, and I request NHTSA investigation to determine if this model or imported versions are unsafe for u. S. Consumers.

3 Suspension problem of the 2022 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 08/28/2025

Description of the problem on August 28, 2025, I had my vehicle serviced at Nissan of dearborn due to a transmission malfunction. After the service was completed, I noticed the front end was pulling to the right, as time progress I became concerned. I took the vehicle to an independent service center for a front-end alignment. During the inspection, I was informed that the control arms were loose and needed to be replaced. Responses to required questions what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the transmission initially malfunctioned, and later the front suspension/control arms were found to be loose after the transmission was replaced. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? loose control arms and steering misalignment significantly compromised vehicle stability, creating a risk of loss of control while driving, which could lead to an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, the issue with the control arms was confirmed by an independent service center during the alignment inspection. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has not yet been inspected by Nissan corporate or other authorities, but it is available for inspection. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? there were no warning lamps or messages prior to the transmission malfunction. The pulling to the right began immediately after the dealership service on August 28, 2025. Safety concern I purchased this vehicle, August 22, 2024, but have not owned it long enough to expect major component failures. This situation has created a serious safety risk, and I am requesting Nissan corporate to investigate this matter urgently and provide a resolution, including repair or reimbursement.

4 Suspension problem of the 2025 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

The contact owns a 2025 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that the tires were worn and bald prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact was informed that the rear wheels needed to be aligned and the tires replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later taken to the local mechanic, who indicated that the rear suspension could not be aligned because the rear suspension camber was off. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed that the rear suspension camber was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000.

5 Suspension problem of the 2019 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 03/14/2025

A month ago I heard a noise in the right rear suspension area. I brought it in to Nissan for diagnosis. After a few visits they diagnosed that something in the body of the vehicle cracked due to weak metal used in manufacturing and has caused one of the bolts holding up the struts to break off. I had this reviewed by two Nissan certified mechanics and both advised me that this is extremely rare and seeing as this vehicle has never been in any damage or accident, it has to be due to a manufacturing issue. To fix the issue would mean extensive repair and over $6000. I have had a case open with Nissan for three weeks now and they continue to tell me they’re reviewing it, but giving me no indication on when they will take responsibility for the defect in their vehicle. In the meantime I am not confident in the safety of my vehicle and because this was not caused by an accident my insurance won’t pay for a rental car in the meantime. I have attached the quote I got from the Nissan certified mechanic and would like this damage to be put on file in case any other Nissan drivers have had the same issue.

7 Suspension problem of the 2018 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 01/03/2024

Driver side coil spring broke near the lower part of the spring, spring was still seated and operating but rubbing on strut. There was no way to tell that the spring was broken other than the fact that I found the broken piece laying on the ground - so we immediately took it to Nissan to be repaired. This is the second coil spring to break - the passenger spring broke at the same location at around 46,000 miles - again no way to tell that the spring was broken other than the fact that I had visually inspected the car and noticed the spring broken. This is the exact same issue we had with our 2012 Nissan versa - both coil springs within 60,000 miles - however Nissan did issue a recall for those parts.

8 Suspension problem of the 2020 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 10/21/2023

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan kick. The contact stated that while their wife was driving at approximately 20-25 mph attempting to make a left turn they suddenly lost control causing the vehicle to go straight across the road instead of completing the left turn. The vehicle crashed into 2 mailboxes before it came to a stop. The right wheel bent outward causing the right fender to lodge into the door. The left wheel had turned in the opposite direction. The right axle detached from the transmission. The lower ball joint detached from the lower control arm and the sway bar had fractured the air bags did not deploy. The mailboxes were damaged. The contact received bruising to their abdominal area. No medical attention was needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where the right axle, right lower control arm, and both front wheels and rims were replaced. Several sensors associated with the front of the vehicle, the bumper, the fender, the right headlight assembly right, struts, and suspension were all replaced as well. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,485.

9 Suspension problem of the 2022 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 10/28/2022

Not sure what causes this failure in the Kicks but if there is any wind at all when driving over 45 mph and/or traveling on a highway, interstate the steering becomes super sloppy and the car is difficult to control and maintain lanes in moderate wind conditions. You have to grip the steering wheel hard and fight to maintain your lane in the wind or pull off until the wind is under 10 mph. It is a serious hazard to occupants and anyone else on the road. All systems were in line and the vehicle only had between 800 - 1000 miles on it, tire pressure was good and all systems were good - the Kicks should not be driven in any weather-related conditions. It was so bad I took a $10k loss on the vehicle with under 6000 miles and traded it in within less than 6 months of purchase. I am on a fixed income so this was a huge expense and not an easy choice to lose that kind of money but it was better than the alternative and trying to drive it in the wind. Please investigate the Kicks before someone dies from this problem. Of note I have a friend with a versa that looks a lot like the Kicks that has the same problem - her solution if there is any wind she stays home and does not drive.

10 Suspension problem of the 2022 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 08/17/2022

I bought a brand new Kicks sport s that was delivered to me with 231 miles on it. It ran great but when driving on the interstate when a slight crosswind kicked up the vehicle steering was almost unmanageable. It was difficult keeping the vehicle on the road below the posted speed with only 5 -10 mile winds. Tire inflation was proper and everything worked great until there was even the slightest wind. I traded the car in at under 4000 miles due to this fact since it was not safe to drive and took a $10,000 loss only months after purchase and paid in full at the time of purchase. This is the biggest scam for a vehicle and should not be on the road they are dangerous and sorry but after losing almost a year's income on this vehicle I wish I had never seen one of them much less bought one. Very unsafe people will end up dying buying this vehicle. I would not put my children or grandkids in this car if there was any wind whatsoever nor would I ever ride in one with any wind ever again.

11 Suspension problem of the 2018 Nissan Kicks

Failure Date: 08/21/2019

Purchased 2018 Nissan Kicks with 1,000 miles on it on 08/16/19. Has been to dealer twice now. Clicking sound in speedometer area (started 2 days within purchase) which has been complained about 3 times and they keep telling me there is no reason as they cannot hear it (I have videoed numerous times) . Within a week of purchase the a warning sign came onto dash stating unable to detect front crash sensor and within seconds front crash light appeared. At this time I was driving 25-30 mph and there was not a car in front of me for at least 100 years. Husband took to dealer and they could not hear clicking sound but claimed it was the front sensor that could have been causing the problem and ordered new part. On 09/27/19 car was taken to dealer to replace front sensor - again clicking sound was mentioned to dealer and I was told again they could not hear it and it was probably the car waking up. Since I let the dealer my front end makes a squeaky/creaking sound, and the accelerator has been delayed multiple times while driving and after already stopped to start driving again. Very dissatisfied with this vehicle.
