Seat Belt problem #1

After four years of owning this vehicle purchased new, the passenger side seatbelt warning light came on the dash. It indicated the seatbelt was not buckled while no one was sitting in the passenger seat. When buckled the light went out. Brought it to the attention of Nissan, service every year when they would clear the code and it would be good for a month or two, and the light would come back on like before. Last month on may 9, I brought the vehicle in again and asked for a thorough assessment. Nissan service said to make the light go out they would have to replace two passenger side occupancy sensors, totaling $1800 parts and labor. They did not have the parts on hand, I left with the vehicle only to find out that the intermittent seatbelt light that would go out when buckled, stayed on continuous now. Also noticed the illuminated airbag light stating the airbag was off. And that was also on at all times whether someone was in the passenger seat or not. When purchasing the vehicle new we also purchased a gold preferred extended warranty, that I believed would cover these parts. But Nissan, consumer affair said the the warranty will not cover those items. After a month of trying to get Nissan, service and consumer affairs to work with me, still no help. Searching online I found Nissan, has had numerous issues and even some recalls with occupancy sensors in the seats of many vehicles. It seems to be an ongoing issue with Nissan, regarding earlier model vehicles and newer models. Thank you for your time and your help.

Seat Belt problem #2

Front passenger seat occupancy sensor has failed resulting in an illuminated seat belt warning even when the front passenger seat is unoccupied. Workaround is either to clip the seatbelt in all the time or put a black piece of tape over the warning light. Either workaround degrades safety as the intended operation of the warning light is bypassed.

Seat Belt problem #3

The left curtain and driver seat airbags were spontaneously deployed while driving. The driver seatbelt pre-tensioner was engaged and locked. There was no collision or abrupt motion. My wife sustained minor abrasions to her left arm and swerved to the right shoulder of the road. The car would not shift into drive and was towed. The cause is unknown and without warning.

Seat Belt problem #4

My Nissan does not have an audible reminder to buckle my seat belt. The dealer says this is the way the car is designed. Should my car be recalled? federal motor vehicle safety standards require seat belt reminders to have an audible signal that lasts for four to eight seconds and a visual alert that lasts at least one minute whenever the driver's seat belt is not on.

Seat Belt problem #5

1) start the vehicle 2) exit the vehicle 3) unplug the vehicle 4) re-start the vehicle 5) put in drive seat belt chime does not ring. I found that I can also 1) start the vehicle 2) put in drive 3) put in park 4) exit the vehicle 5) enter the vehicle w/o seatbelt buckled 6) put in drive. No seatbelt chime.

Seat Belt problem #6

2019 Nissan Leaf sl. Consumer writes in regard to vehicle having no audible warning when front seat belt is not buckled.

Seat Belt problem #7

My Nissan Leaf was experiencing a seat belt not buckled and it would light up when no one was sitting in the seat. I have taken it to the dealer three times to have it fixed. The first two times they reset the sensor and it would stay fixed for 2 months. I just took it back the 3rd time. The dealer said the airbag would not deploy in an accident. Since it was a safety issue not covered under warranty, I chose for them to fix my vehicle. The OCS sensor and control module was faulty. It cost me $652. 56 to repair it. I thought it would be covered under warranty since this was a safety issue. I want to report this issue to you since it was a safety issue. I do not want anyone dying in a car accident due to the airbag not deploying.

Seat Belt problem #8

Red triangle warning light comes on will not go out when car is on and when drivers seat belt is ingaged both triangle red light and seat belt light flashes all doors are closed and secure including hatch.

Seat Belt problem #9

I was involved in a mva on 12/26 when someone rear-ended me going about 35-40mph when I was stoppped at a red light. My seat belts did not lock upon impact and I sustained a bad whiplash causing neck pain, back pain and severe headaches. Now I am diagnosed with seizures caused from the mva giving me severe migraines and head inflammation. . The collision center discovered my sensors in my Leaf was faulty causing the seat belts not to lock up impact, which they should. When I called Nissan manufacturing and left a message about the faulty system, samantha called me back on 2/7/18 and said my seat belts were not suppose to lock upon impact. I know this is not true. Seat belts are disigned to lock upon impact. I am unable to work do to constant seizures. I am being treated by several physicians. I am prepared to file a lasw suit with Nissan.

Seat Belt problem #11

With the car parked and all seats upright, I found the center rear seatbelt retractor locked. It was not possible to use the seatbelt. I folded the seat down, then back up, and it was locked tighter. My local Nissan dealer replaced the belt free of charge the next week. The service manager said that they service several lines of cars, foreign and domestic, and occasionally see seatbelt retractors locked up in several lines of cars.

Seat Belt problem #12

Page 1-21 of the 2012 Nissan Leaf owner manual has an illustration of a forward-facing convertible child restraint incorrectly installed, with the caption "latch webbing-mounted attachment". The illustration shows the forward-facing convertible child restraint installed with the lower anchorage flexible connector strap (latch webbing) routed through the rear-facing child restraint belt path. No webbing is routed through the forward-facing child restraint belt path. This illustration may suggest to users that this is how to route the "latch webbing" in a forward-facing child restraint illustration, which may lead to injury. This illustration is common to many models of 2003 and later Nissan vehicles, not just the Leaf.
