Unknown Or Other problem #1

Transmission jerks from 1st to 2nd gear. Wont shift into 3rd. Makes a very hard jerk while shifting gears and won't go to 2nd sometimes.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

I took possession of this vehicle around the 14th of November and this vehicle has been returned back to the dealership 6 times within a two week period. I think this could possible be a flood car there is a smell of mildew and the visor are water damaged. To this day the vehicle has not been fixed and it is the 26th day of December 2011. The transmission seems to be slipping and I am afraid to enter traffic as the car stalls and then sticks upon accellarating. The check engine light as well as the brake ans abs lights are constantly on when the dealership stated that they had turned them off. I can smell fumes upon starting and driving this car. I am parent and I don't like to give my child or any other person a ride because of the smells. The tires were bald on the car and twice when it rained I almost has 2 major collisions when the vehicle veered into the other lane driving 45 in a 65 mph zone. I am filing a complaint because I don't think this car is a good car. I have contacted the finance company and they are stating this is out of there hands. I have taken pictures of the different item that seems to be water damaged. I also will be filing a complaint with the comsumer law group regarding this matter.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

On November 15, 2011, I was walking across the parking lot of food store and noticed something hanging down from the passenger side of the car under the passenger seat. Upon investigation I found a hole in the bottom of the car where it had rotted out. The metal is flaking off and the hole continues to get bigger. I looked online to see if there had been a recall to fix the problem and found many other people with the same problem. Nissan refuses to recall or repair the problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Car began making a chattering sound and I had oil checked immediately. Full, but it was suggested to me at gas station that I might have a sticking valve. I had an appointment for an oil change on Monday, November 7th but on Sunday, 11/6/11 as I was going up a slight hill chattering got louder and engine stopped. I'm told the car "jumped timing" due to the failure of the tensioner which holds the timing chain. It's likely the heads were damaged in the process but I have not yet had the engine pulled apart. From on line research this seems to be a common problem with the Maxima models 2004-08. Called Nissan but they insist that I have it towed to dealership and pay a large sum of money to have it diagnosed and then they "might" pay for the parts (job is labor intensive!) for their "flagship" engine, it was probably not a good idea to use a plastic part in it! I will be contacting Nissan again soon. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Faulty transmission, needs to be replaced, Nissan should have recalled these models and taken care of the issues.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

When the car is driven on the highway for 30 minutes or longer this happens. After slowing down or coming to a stop, when starting up the transmission seems to miss when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The engine rives up like the transmission is in neutral or park. After slowing the engine down and starting up again it works correctly.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Iac valve went bad and car sometime don't start and when it does it ideals rough cant order the part from anywhere but the dealer and they are very expensive I can't even pull anything up on it nowhere other than other people having the same problems everywhere this idem should be recalled.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

The skyview roof in my 2004 Nissan Maxima is leaking water. During a hard rain when the car is sitting still for more than one hour, water will run through the interior lamps onto the interior. This is very annoying to the point that I hates when it rains. I have to place a large bath towel over the dashboard and gear lever to help prevent water and electrical damage! please help!.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Transmission in 2004 Nissan Maxima jerks, so hard that feels like you just got rear ended. These transmissions are failing at an astounding rate. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it makes the car uncomfortable to drive.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Car jerks when going into 1st, 2nd or 3rd and has gotten stuck in 3rd gear when driving, had to put in manual gears in order to stop the vehicle. Also when putting in reverse car jerks and then when you go into drive the vehicle jerks again. A/c also went out about 6 months after owning the car, which was bought in 2009. Vehicle has been checked out by dealership and they do not know what the main problem is with the car, and said they would fix 2 things to see if it fixes the problem, only if I pay them about $3000. 00 to $3500. 00. Dealer does not know the root of the problem, however they want to charge for "what if's". Car also jerks when you break or slow down without using break system. I am afraid for my life and the life of my family.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

When the problem initially started you could hear a very loud rattling noise. Nissan certified dealer could not figure out the problem. Last month they gave me a list which was half printed and half written meaning that the most costly, expensive, and important item were not put in their database system. The certified mechanic basically told me to get rid of the car ( car needs a new transmission due to broken tensioner, main chain). In order for them just to confirm that-that's the problem, it would apps. Take 8 labor hours to take the motor apart. The car feels like it is literally going to fall apart.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

After stopping at a stop sign, my car would not proceed properly and then all of a sudden lunged forward. After I was continuing at approximately 30 miles per hour the transmission jerked into gear. The same scenario happened frequently.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

I have a Nissan Maxima that I had to replace all tires because of a deffect that came to me in the mail after I brought my new tires and was not reinbursed. I also had problem with front rotars that they kept replacing numerous times until my warrantty ran out and than I had to replace them with high performance rotars so it would not happen again. Now after all of that and more I am not able to drive my only transportation because out of nowhere my transmition blew up after my extended warranty ran out because of years not mileage and no matter where I went I was told that if I would replace it with a new or use transmition that I would have the same problem and no one wants to work on it. I was told by mechanics that only the 2004 has transmition problems.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

My 04 Maxima currently has just over 50,000 miles on it. I have noticed some hard shifts over the past few months, but they had been very intermittent. The other day however I noticed the service engine soon light was on and when accelerating from a stop I realized that I barely had any power! after engine shut off the acceleration was back to normal. The service engine soon light remained on. The code was pulled and reset. P 0797 pressure control solenoid, stuck on. Repair cost approximately 4000 dollars. Problem outstanding. The struts have also gone bad. Problem outstanding. I have also had to replace the battery. The front right rotor is warped and causes steering wheel shim when downhill braking. Problem outstanding. My car had begun to idle very low twice and actually died once. Problem outstanding. A weld on the heat shield of the catalytic converter has come loose and causes a noticeable vibration when accelerating when cold. This subsides once it's heated up probably due to metal expansion. Problem outstanding. I have also replaced the tires due too bad alignment camber on some and also castor I believe it was wearing the tires unevenly.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

10,522k miles,- I broke down due to failure of alternator and battery. Dealership replaced both. 15,358k miles,- I complained about a loud rattling noise, like a flat tire rattling grinding noise and car feeling shaky. = dealership found no problem. Continuing driving my car thinking everything is ok. I bought it brand new so I shouldn't really worry. I was wrong for thinking that. 27,500 mi. -I broke down again got towed to the dealership, where they replaced another alternator. 27,732-I brought it back to dealership, because I just thought the noise my car still made didn't seem right. = dealership resecured heatshield 3. 26'099 mi. -r/f headlight bulb burnt out. Dealer fixed that one. 28'071 mi. -left side front headlight burnt out. Dealer replaced . 29,276 mi. - I paid $300. 00 for my major service that was due for my car, also thinking maybe my car wouldn't be as noisy as it is. Maybe the dealership might find the problem. 31'431 mi. - I still hear the grinding noise, the cover under engine was loose, my air conditioner was not cold enough, and the center console was loose. =this time the dealership said it was the heat shield for the grinding noise, they fixed the loose cover under engine, fixed center console, and replaced low pressure hose in the a/c. 31'813 mi. - car still making the grinding noise, I hear knocking noises from the back of the car when I reverse, and the a/t light stays on longer than normal, then turnes off. = dealer replaced front exaust pipe, said the knocking noise I hear in the back of the car, is from the aftermarket air cleaner. (that is in the front of car). When I picked up my car from the dealership, I felt like this time my car was going to be fixed. I got in my headed for home. I heard the same noise I have been complaining about since 15,358 mi. I turned around brought right back in to service. =they replaced the rear manifold and cat converter. I picked up my car but I still hear the noise my car makes and it is louder when turning.
