Unknown Or Other problem #1

I had bought a 2005 Nissan Maxima within a month it started jerking really bad between first and second shift. Getting off the freeway and comming to a stop it started jerking really bad it seemed like I had been hit from my back bumper, but it just the shit gear problem. It was really scary especially having my two year old son in the car. I took my car to the mechanic multiple times but they didnt seem to know what the problem was so I looked it up online and there were numerous complaints with the same problem I was having. My Maxima now has 75000 miles and does not fall under warranty I am afraid that they are going to charge me $3000 for a problem that alot of Nissans seem to have and should have been reacalled.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

I was driving in 40's and suddenly my transmission gets stuck . It wont go down or up. And sudddenly when it does it gives me a huge jerk. This can be a dangerous problem which can cause serious accidents. Looking at all the forums in the internet seems like almost all the Nissan users of (2004 to 2006) are facing the same problem. There has to some kind of recall that all these customers have to get .

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Bought car brand new 9/2005. Car was serviced multiple times and even a Nissan engineer tested steering and suspension. When speed is at 60 mpr, steering wheel shakes. New tires were put on by dealership several times, also. Engineer stated that car was supposed to do that. Well now my car's transmission is acting up. Please note that steering wheel still shakes, too. I did a google search and see that numerous people are having the same issue. This car has to be a lemon. I will be contacting Nissan north America to file a complaint also and request that they repair my car.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

I was told by the dealer mechanic that I am having problems with my timing chain tightener. This problem was first diagnosed more than a year ago, and I was told that the sound it was making would worsen with time, and that I should get it replaced before it fails completely. The mechanic told me he feels a recall should have been placed on this part, but so far no such recall has been made. The internet is rife with similar stories, and the gentleman in line in front of me had the same diagnosis.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Passenger front floor pan has about a 11 inch rusted out spot. You can see the interior sound barrier from under the car on the passenger side, under the front door area.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Severe transmission shifting issues, on moderate mileage. There are several complaints on nissian help. Com. Nissian isn't trying to do anything to help it's custormers please look into this, please issue a recall on the 04 05 models of the Maxima. This is a urgent plea for help. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

My transmission is badly jerking and scare to drive. Gear shiftting is not properly operating.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

The transmission violently shifts up and down causing the car to jerk forward when at speeds ranging from 20-40, slowing down or accelerating up almost causing an accident. As well as slipping out of gear around 35-45 mph revving the engine then slamming into gear causing temporary loss of control. This is an extreme safety hazzard. Nissan Maxima problem yet Nissan won't help, please help myself and other Nissan owners before someone dies in an accident from a surging/slipping transmission. I just want this problem to go away.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Vehicle jumps violently when changing between 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears. If the engine is cool then the vehicle does not jump but once the engine is warmed up, the car is just contantly jerking. If I change gears from d to r, it takes around 5 seconds before vehicle actually kicks into gear and it jerks so hard to the point where it just make a loud noise.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

I like many others am having the exact transmission "slipping, jerking" problems between 2nd and 3rd gear. The rpm's just jump right up under acceleration, the transmission slips then catches causing a jerking, lurching forward action. It is very dangeroua especcially coming on to a majon highway. Because of this I will not let my wife and children drive in the car. We cannot afford the quoted $3500 to $4000 to replace the transmission. Nor do we feel as if we should have to. We have owne this car since new. It has been very reliable but this is abusrd. Nissan needs to recall this model year and replace with corrected transmission before someone gets killed. Or is that what it's going to take to get them to acknowledge the problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

I own a 2005 Nissan Maxima se that now has 73000 miles on it . I am encountering a problem that seems to be with the transmission, when checked for transmission problems nothing seems to show up and no lights are on. The car bucks or jerks when driving and when changing gears . It scrubs as if it 's struggling to pull (which is very dangerous) happened to me while entering the interstate this week and I was in tears because I was in fear for my safety. The car has been having these issue since around 66000 miles. I've gone on line and find out that several consumers are having the same problem and are at a loss as to how to resolve since it doesnt show up as a transmission problem and to have a car (purchased brand new) to start having transmission problems at such low mileage is not expected. There should be a recall on these cars and Nissan should have to fix this problem before serious injury to their consumer is encountered. When I went to a Nissan dealership to try and talk to them about the problem and they just brushed me off and said they would have to look at my car and put it on the machine for a cost of over 100. 00 . This I fell is useless since I've already had it checked and online consumers are saying that no transmission code shows up on the machine. The trasmission fluid was flushed since my machanic said he didnt see anything wrong with the transmission as an attempt to solve the problem but that did nothing for the problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Slight hesitation when put in d or r then hard jerk and clunking sound when goes into gear. Has a hard jerking when slowing down and down shifting. Will slip in and out of gear while going down the road. Rpm's will rev up to 6000-7000 before shifting into gear. This mainly happens when car is warmed up. But goes in and out of gear between 20-40 mph.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

I bought a 2005 Maxima 3. 5 sl in 2006 brand new in south carolina. I first started having problems when I had my 60,000 mile service. About two weeks after the service my check engine light came on so, I took it to the dealership. They said there was no codes, and cleared the light. I then took my car in for the 90,000 service and once again around a week or two later my check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and now their was codes saying my egr valve needed to be replaced. I told the dealership the same thing happened when I did my 60,000 mile service. Needless to say their was a recall that they would have replaced it for free but I was just over the mileage where it could have been done at no cost to me. About 3 months later my car jerked really hard, and my car lost complete power then jerked once more and started to move. The gauges in the car went completely out and every light possible on the dash came on. First I was told I have to replace four sensors, and so I did so along with the egr valve. The car ran fine for about two weeks and started doing the same thing. When I went from drive to reverse or vice versa it would jerk real hard before engaging. I then took the car to the repair shop and they said my transmission sensor was bad. I just had it replaced two weeks ago, and now my car is back is the shop doing the same thing. The tcs slip, and every light on the dash is on, and none of my gauges are working. Now they say it might be the computer that is bad. This last time I was on my way home from missouri and it disengaged and would not put up speed when I pressed the gas pedal. I was nearly rear ended, and had to pull over because my 12 year old daughter was in the car and got scared.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

Transmission shifts hard. When in park to drive hesitates a few seconds than roughly shifts to drive. Hesitates when car is driven for long periods of time. Sporadically has issues that appears to be the transmission. Have gone to several shops and have been told many things. Reading all the forums this is a factory defect that should be recalled. I have only had the car for over a year. The manufacturer should be liable!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Transmission. Undocumented flaw with this transmission. Transmission slips out of gear during regular driving. Very hard jerky shifts.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

My 2005 Nissan Maxima started to shift extremely hard. Not only that but in traffic it can be very scarey almost causing you to hit the vehicle in front of you or being almost hit in the rear because the transmission gets stuck and then shifts extremely hard. This vehicle is used to transport my kids. I cannot afford to fix Nissans mistakes. Times are difficult financially right now. Nissan should be held accountable for there mistakes. They should not be allowed to sell vehicles that are not reliable. Please help us with this situation. It not only put my children in danger but it has taken a financial tow on my family. Nissan needs to fix this!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

I have a problem with my Maxima, my transmission is faulty, it jerks real bad from 1st to 2nd gear, and then when I am slowing down about to come to a stop it also kicks and jerks real bad. I dont know what to do since I really thought this was a realiable car for my family and now im scared everytime I drive it. I need Nissan to do something about this problem. Please help.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Stopped at a local shop, got out of car to mail a letter, car still running, key in the ignition and the doors locked on the car while it was running and no one in the drivers seat. Luckly I did not have my child in the car seat, it was hot and it took me having to get someone to go to my home and retrieve a spare key to open the door. Took it to dealership and because it was 1o miles over the warranty, they would not repair it. I filed a complaint earlier, but never heard a response. This also happened to my 2005 altima. The doors are not suppose to lock if car is running. This is a hazard and a defect.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

Chrome rails that run from front of windshiel to rear have faded and are peeling. Every Maxima I have seen is the same. Is there a recall on this. Great car except forthis.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

My 2005 Maxima has a tray on the dash designed to hold change sunglasses cell phone etc. --I always put change in the tray but apparently there is a space/slit where this change can slip down. The change did slip down into one of the circuit panels and burned up my circuit panel causing my major electrical damage to my car. This occurred while traveling and could have easily burned my car up with me and my child in the car. Nissan said since it was due change it was my fault and would not cover the expenses. My question to them was if this tray was designed for change etc. And there was no warning stating to not put change there then I feel like they should cover it as this is faulty design and a fire hazard. They said until they get other complaints they would not even look at the possibility of paying for this. Ironic that when it came back from a Nissan repair shop this area that was open is now sealed.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

Purchased 2005 Maxima and have had it back to the dealer six times for the same vibrating and shimmying problem that everyone seems to complain about. If I had only seen this website before I bought one! the dealership tries they're best to blame the tires/wheels. They have now put 5 sets of tire and wheels on my brand new car. . . The only person there that is truthful was the service manager. I took him for a ride in the car and finally, he said, this is a characteristic of the car. . . They wish Nissan would fix it. He said maybe 1 out of 25 people actually complain about it. I find that hard to believe. I have am filing a lemon law suit and hope for the best. When will Nissan have a recall and fix this problem?.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

I called on 1/31/05 and filed a formal complaint for my 2005 Nissan Maxima. I have not heard back from anyone as yet and I am wondering how I need to proceed.
