May/2110-while driving my 2005 Nissan Maxima I developed complete electrical failure and had to have my car towed to bill denny's car repair. The problem is that the electrical system is directly under a coin tray on the dash. The corners are not secure and small coins were able to slip down there thus short circuiting the electrical system. My auto repair person researched this and found this problem has been well known to Nissan. Many Nissan owners have had this problem happen to them. The complaints are all over the internet. This happened to me when my vehicle was 5 yrs old but it also happened to Nissan owners when their Maxima was new. This is not a warranty issue but a safety issue. There should have been a recall. Nissan is ignoring my request to pay for my auto's repair because my car was not under warranty. Nissan has in fact fixed this defect. When I had my car repaired in may this problem was corrected. . John anello writer for auto tech on wheels wrote an article of the month for his magazine 06/2009- it was entirely about this defect. There is absolutely no reason for this to be ignored by Nissan . My car could have failed on a highway at a high speed with a deadly outcome. I made a complaint thru the state of MD consumer protection division my case no#[xxx]. I purchased my 2005 Nissan Maxima sl brand new from kraft Nissan in July 2005. Four years later, I have been very disappointed in the service that Nissan provides to customers. I have had issues with Nissan's service since day one. I have contacted Nissan in the past about issues concerning my Maxima. Yesterday (December 2, 2009) after work, I got into my car to find out that it was wet on the inside from the driver side door panel to the passenger side door. Most of the roof line was completely saturated with water and dripping from the sunglass storage panel and each door. I have not had any work done or accidents. I feel that there is a defect in the seals or drains in this car. This was not the first time this has happened. I paid for a luxury Nissan not a piece of junk and continually make my payments timely. Kraft Nissan informed me that there is nothing they can do because my car is out of warranty and would have to keep my car all day and charge me $90 just to diagnosis the problem. My problem is that my car is almost always park in a garage, whether at work or at home. In florida it rains a lot and I should not be having this issue with a car that is only 4. 5 years old. I promise you I will never buy another Nissan nor will I recommend to anyone to buy a Nissan.
