When you're driving in hazardous conditions the car loses stability and it caused me to go into a spin and hit a wall, anytime it rains you can feel that the car starts to lose grip of the road and I fear for my life every time it remotely starts to rain or the road is wet. And there's a recall on the Nissan Maxima regarding the rear suspension something and the effect of the recall on that vehicle is what's happening to my vehicle.
This vehicle is severely defective. This vehicle is not safe to be on the road. This vehicle has had several repairs for the same repair issue but the problem still exists. I have spent thousands on this vehicle and this vehicle is still inoperative and not drivable. This vehicle is a hazard for the road. Vehicle is unsafe! vehicle has still not been repaired. Please I like to be compensated and reimbursed for the loss I have suffered. Please compensate and/or reimbursed me for the $10,000. 00 I lost in a defective, inoperable, and unsafe vehicle. Thank god my child and I did not get seriously hurt while I was driving this vehicle. I remember one incident while I was driving this vehicle: right in the middle of me driving this vehicle I was going about 40-45 mph on the highway, the vehicle just shut down all of a sudden. The entire electrical system just shutdown. That was very frightening! so, yes I like to be fully compensated for all my troubles with this vehicle.
I bought this car from a buy here pay here had the car for 1 month and the transmission went in it. I was told there was a recall on these transmissions from several people. The dealer will not help me because it was sold as is. But they never told me anything was wrong with the car. It actually drove fine for a month. I was driving and the car just shut off. I tried to turn it back on when it did it would not drive. I had a mechanic heck it out. I now have to purchase a new transmission.
Transmission has a wicked vibration. Have had sensors replaced, but that didn't help. Was told that I need a new transmission. . . Apparently I'm not the only one!.
Its a 2006 Nissan maximum when driving it. Jerks then it sounds really loud with strange noise s like its trying to shift gears but stuck wont. Drive or pull in a automatic car its a very scary situation.
What a nightmare!!!!.
I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima. I was going 30 mph, I hit a truck that was stopped at a red light. My airbags did not deploy. $4870 in damage but my insurance company said there was not enough damage to be considered a total loss ($170 away from being considered a total loss).
Rattling sound on front ride side of vehicle. Took to Nissan dealership on 12/11/14 to have assessed. Was confirmed that it is the timing chain tensioning system. It will cost $2000 in labor alone to remove engine and components to access, parts will be anywhere for $200-$2000. The timing chian tension system is defective and prone to premature failure. Dealership does not know why this happens but recommended I do not drive until can be repaired due to the fact that if the timing loses time it will blow my motor. I feel as this should have been a recall issued to consumers. The vehicle is not yet paid off and will require $2000-4000 in repairs to be safe to drive.
I took my vehicle in for some service and was told my timing chain needed to be replaced. It is going to cost over $2000. 00 for the work. I have investigated this and found numerous other complaints about this. Nissan has issued as technical service bulletin on this problem. It appears a plastic part was used on the timing chain and it wears prematurely. I spoke to an independent mechanic and learned the timing chain should be good for at least 100000 miles. I was told by Nissan that if the problem was not corrected, it could result in major damage to the vehicle. In addition, if the timing chain fails, the vehicle could be rear-ended since the failure makes the vehicle inoperable.
While driving on the interstate, I had cruse control set at 80mph. There was a stalling/jerking motion that took place. After looking over the instrument panal. I notice it was still on cruse control but the mph had dropped a few miles. Once cruse controll was disengaged, I noticed the difference in acceleration. It felt like my car was stuck in third or forth gear. I had to hold pedal to the floor and wait as it picked up speed.
Car will not completely start, (and the start is fine) alarm states its stole etc. Anti-thief. . . Been in shop for weeks and they can't figure out what is is how to fix it.
Transmission defect. I am experiencing a problem with my 2006 Nissan Maxima. The transmission in my car is slipping. When I am driving many times the acceleration increases the rpm above 3, before it changes gears. Also sometimes when taking off there is a very hard kick before you take off. There are other internet postings with the same issues that I have. Based on the internet research, this seems to be a common problem with this year and model. Why isn't the Nissan corporation being held responsible for their actions?.
My car began jerking and shifting unexpectedly. It accelerated unexpectedly which caused me to lose control of the vehicle. My car crashed into my friend's home. After doing research I found that many people are having shifting problems. This is a definite safety issue.
My 2006 Nissan Maxima began hard shifting while driving, reversing, and shifting into drive. I took it in to have it serviced over the summer and the Nissan dealership recommended a transmission flush and said nothing was wrong. Of course that did not fix anything. The problem has gotten progressively worse to the point where it can take up to 5 seconds for the car to shift into gear when I am putting it into drive. I contacted the Nissan corporation and they advised me to go to the dealership and have it diagnosed. Well of course now the dealership says we need to have the transmission replaced. . . To the tune of $3,000. When I contacted the Nissan corporation they informed me there was nothing they could do to help me and that my car didn't fall within the parameters of the cvt transmission extended warranty. So not only are we out $150 for a diagnosis that we already knew what the problem was, but now we have to get the vehicle repaired or it won't be safe to drive. We have owned two Nissans and the previous one was a 1996 Maxima that never gave us any problems. I wish I had that car back and not this "upgraded" model. I use to think that Nissan was a company that stood by its customers and strived for satisfaction, but I now know that is not the case. Will NHTSA ever look into these complaints and force Nissan's hand as far as this transmission issue goes? there needs to be a safety recall, not just a bulletin.
My transmission slowly began to kick and jerk. After a while it got worse and worse. It has got me into many near accidents do to either jerking or failed to shift and accelerate. It now will not shift into gear at all, and is currently in the shop. I have seen many complaint about this issue with Nissan, and think it is unacceptable that they do not recall these transmissions.
Brake "actuator" started humming or running as soon as car ('06 Nissan Maxima se) was turned on away from home. Continued to kick in abs at every brake application creating unsafe (or at least not normal) braking situations and continued to run when car was shut off. Abs light, tcs light, and slip light all activated continually. Codes c1110 & c1105 & c1106 were present after scanning at local garage. Battery drained after car shut off due to actuator continuing to run with car shut off. Per research and other TSB or Nissan-issued techincal bulletins, the rear hub abs sensor frequently malfunctions due to a design flaw in the car. If driven while malfunctioning (as in this case) the controller/actuator may malfunction. Turning off "abs" while driving seems to keep the actuator from running, but also makes driving less safe, especially in inclement weather due to turning off tcs/abs. I've had to replace this out-of-pocket (despite being an extremely common problem with this model vehicle). Sensors and actuator were replaced. Vehicle driven again. Less than 8 months later, same issues return. Nissan dealership replaced rear sensor per codes, new code for actuator shows again (after sensors placed in) and they require me to pay out of pocket again for new actuator. This is obviously a design flaw in the car (per many other reports) and should be recalled immediately for repair.
While driving through the town of westport, CT, the car started to jerk and then it was difficult to get past 25 miles per hour and then all of a sudden the car shut off a couple of times. I then made it to a gas station and after a few minutes it started up and I made it home. I have now been told that there is a problem with the transmission on my car that causes jerking, gear slipping and sudden acceleration and cut offs that Nissan is aware of (on the 2006 Nissan Maxima models) and they have not addressed any of these problems or issues. I guess they will wait until someone gets killed before something happens. It is going to cost me $3000. 00 to get my car fixed when it should be free because of the defect in the the transmission on this model year car.
I noticed that the transmission in my 2006 Nissan Maxima started to shift hard while driving and jerk into gear. I bought it three years prior as preowned from a Nissan dealership. It had 106k miles on it when it started to shift hard and jerk. I took it to pat peck Nissan in mobile, al to have it diagnosed and I was told that the transmission bands were going out and that the transmission needed to be replaced. Once I started to google Nissan Maxima transmissions, I came across where a civil lawsuit was filed against Nissan in 2012 claiming that Nissan knew or should have known about defective transmissions in the 2004-2006 Nissan Maximas and altimas. I contacted the corporate office of Nissan with my issue and to see if they were going to make this right. I then had to call them back for an status on my case and I was then told that because my warranty expired (4 months prior) that Nissan would not be able to assit me with this problem. I don't understand what my expired warranty has to do with a defective transmission?? a transmission should not be going out with 106k miles, mostly highway and the car has been taken care of. While I was online and discovered the lawsuit, there were so many complaints of people with the exact same issue. There is no way that the transmission should go out in everyone's car that has a 2004-2006 Maxima or altima! I have owned three Nissan total and I will never by another Nissan again.
The vehicle shifts really hard between first and second gear.
The car jerks or hesitates as it switches to drive; gears are getting stuck as they switch in stop and go traffic.
My car started to jerk and had trouble moving from one gear to the next. As I started to accelerate, the engine would rev for a few seconds, then jerk, and finally shift to the next gear. When parallel parking, it would jerk upon shifting. I was very concerned about stalling in traffic and possibly being hit. On 7/1/13 I brought my car to the Nissan dealership for inspection. The next day they told me that I needed a new transmission and valve body; estimated cost $6,000.
Suddenly broke down while in rush hour traffic. Car was towed and had cam sensors replaced. Transmission began to slip shortly afterwards. The engine would rev but the car would not accelerate. It then would begin to abruptly shift but not gain speed. There was also knocking when shifting from drive to park and vice versa. Would at times be stuck at 20mph or the engine would rev. Had to pull over on several occasions with my children in the car fearing that it might accelerate and rear end another vehicle or abruptly lose speed and myself be rear ended. Also lets off a horrible sulfur smell. Was diagnosed with transmission failure on 8/22/13 with 48500 miles.
My transmission is failing after only 71,117 miles. The rpm revs but the car doesn't move then it jurks into gear. This problem is occurring in several 2006 Nissan Maximas. There has to be a manufactures defect with the transmission. This problem has been ongoing. My question is what is the Nissan corporation going to do. I will not purchase another Nissan until they rectify this issue with the failing transmission.
Whe warmed up rpms shoot up. Hard shifting between gears.
In August of 2012 I was in my 2006 Nissan Maxima on my way home from work when I was in traffic during rush hour when I was waiting at the traffic light, with cars behind me when my car stopped and wouldn't start or move ,the transmission had gone up a few months prior I took my car to Nissan to get a dianostic they reported not only did I need a brand new transmission at a sum of $3500 but also a m eter control amp which controls the drivers dashboard ,I make car payments on this car still ,I've been driving a car rental since Nov 2012 I can't afford it I need transportation,I have to get to work. I'm so frustrated I just found out yesterday that there is a class action lawsuit with Nissan north America due to these damage transmissions they sold the the public ,I so desapartely in need of help I need my car fixed .
The transmissions are built and designed to fail on all 2006 Nissan Maxima models and have to be replaced between 70,000 and 90,000 miles, costing consumers between $3500-$5000 to repair. Even when the transmission is rebuilt or valve body job consumers will face the same dilemma within a couple of years.
Transmission has acted up and gotten stuck in 5th gear since I bought the car. It is very slow to take off from a stop when this happens and does not drive well at all. It also slams in and out of first and second gear before getting stuck in 5th.
My car began shiffting (abruptly and hard) when slowing down or stopping I'd say maybe 2nd to 3rd gear. It was dissatisfying to know after online research that this is an ongoing issue and Nissan will have no part in resolving the problem. Not happy!! so now I must replace the valve body from what I've found because it's not the tranny just "the brains" for the tranny.
Immediately after purchase, various instances of electrical malfunction, including mirror lights flickering, dash lights flickering/half doesn't come one, as well as faulty wiring in sun roof causing it to open and closes randomly on it's own. Shortly thereafter, transmission started to slip and knock hard into gears, even though proper maintenance was always completed. Brakes replaced several times. Suspension lacking. As of last week, the traction/slip lights come on and the car will not accelerate properly, almost causing several accidents. This problem has yet to be resolved, as no one seems to know what the problem is. This vehicle has caused financial harm as well as near physical harm on several occasions.
My 2006 Nissan Maxima has been feeling weird for some weeks now. Every time it was taken to the mechanic shop they were never ever able to pinpoint the issue. After having spent hundreds of dollars on a new valve body, transmission flush, etc. The issue now seems to be the transmission! my transmission is completely out! I am very disappointed that I have spent $21,000+ on this car to get nothing but dept out of it! after almost getting into multiple accidents from the sudden jerking of the transmission, I can say I will never purchase another Nissan vehicle again!!!!! I wish I would have done research on this vehicle sooner so that I could have traded it in before it was too late. My mother who also purchased a Nissan (quest) is beginning to have the same problems. We are very disappointed with the company. The least Nissan could do it repair the damage for all the the customers that are going through the same issue!.
I took the car into a Nissan dealer for a abs issue I have where abs,tcs and slip light is coming on and maken a horrible noise . They told me the actuator and rear hub needed repair for a total of 2270. 00 plus tax. This is a major issue and in my opinion as a mechanic should be a national recall, for all the people haven this issue is the united states and canada.
