My brakes dont work unless my 3 dashboard lights come on. Slip, tcs and abs. Sometimes I forget and drive off. When I brake at the light you could here the wires buzzing as if there was a short circuit. Finally on my passenger side in the 'back, the tire was wiggling and noticed some lugs were missing plus the hubs lugs were loose. I haven' t taken to go get it inspected because I dont have money at the moment.
I was stopping on a red light when all of the sudden the abs started to kick in but the floor was dry I want going fast as all our any of that. Now it does it every time I'm breaking the code iys c1110.
While casually driving, hands on steering wheel, foot on accelerator, asphalt road slightly damp but not wet, on a two way street with no reason to expect a sudden crisis, the aba brakes on my 2006 Maxima suddenly locked throwing the rear end of the vehicle into a slide facing oncoming traffic which at this time there happened to be none. When I felt the sudden action, which was like I had run into an invisible wall, I then hit the brakes attempting to stop the vehicle. The steering wheel seemed to float with no control of the direction headed. The car continued to accelerate instead of braking. This sent the vehicle back across to the right side of the road into a concrete curb and over into a grassy area before the car came to a stop. Only exterior minor damage from hitting a small sign post. Had it immediately towed to the dealer who road tested it but found no reason for the incident. They said there were no computer codes for what happened. I spoke to the service manager and called Nissan to explain what happened. They had no clue for why. I am still afraid to drive this car in heavy traffic for fear of a repeat. With such low miles and in the garage care over the years it is not time to trade it in.
2nd time: abs activates when pressing on brakes. Anti-lock braking system hums even without pressing brakes.
First after buying this Nissan Maxima 2006, I noticed that my head light lamps needed to be changed every 14 months. I never had a car where I had to replace the head light lamps so often. Both of my other cars (Toyota and Honda) have over 100k miles and we never had to change the lamps on those cars. Next, the abs brakes are not working properly, really? after 70k miles? wow! later I found out that this is a common problem with this car. The abs appear to be running while the car is moving and on dry roads. Finally, the transmission. Why do I have a slipping transmission on a car with only 64k miles. After research, I found out that the problems that I'm having with this Nissan Maxima, hundreds of other owns are having the same problems. I always had Honda and Toyota cars and I decided to try something new in this Maxima. I will never buy Nissan again, I'm running back to Honda and Toyota!!!.
Abs activates during normal braking making horrible grinding sound. Nissan dealer told me the actuator and rear hub needed repair for an extreme amount of money over $2,000. 00. I had the similar problem previously with my 2004 Nissan Maxima, the only repair needed was to dismantle rear brake rotor, clean the corrosion, grind a notch in the knuckle, and reassemble it back. This is a major issue with all cars in middle eastern and central states because of the cold weather conditions. In my opinion it should be a national recall, for all the people having this issue is the united states and canada.
Abs activates every time brake is pressed. Also, the anti-lock braking system hums before I hit brakes. Corrosion problem per service tech at Nissan.
I felt abs system actuating via pumping sensation in my brake pedal while I was driving on dry pavement. It performed worse when going uphill, at low speeds and on flat surfaces. Error codes were generated and "dummy" lights went on. The braking was not very effective as a result of the abs kicking in erroneously. Thankfully I was keeping a safe following distance and was able to brake with some room to spare but if I had regular brakes without the abs malfunctioning, I would have stopped more quickly. Thankfully nobody was hurt this time. Mechanic investigation indicated this is a known problem. The service bulletin: ntb07-016b has the information you need to fix the abs problem. However, it was not caught in time to help me avoid a failed actuator.
Purchased this car in 2006 brand new! 90k miles the abs went. . . . . . . . . At 120k miles the ac went and you have to keep putting freon all summer long! now at 130k miles the car jerks sporadically when driving it switches gears and takes about 5-8 seconds to switch gears. Truly a dissatisfied customer. I paid for a transmission flush, which had I known at the time would not have done it because the problem remains!.
I guess there have to be an accident or somebody gets killed before you (Nissan) will take some action. It saddens me to know that the car manufactures don't care about the citizens that are purchasing there vehicles. Sad situation!!!!!!.
From Nov 2009 to Jan 2010, I replaced the actuator, rear wheel sensor, hub and components. Now, the dealership states that I will have to replace all of that again (Dec 2010). A part that was replaced last year rusted causing "rust intrusion" and Nissan does not consider that part to be defective (even though that same part is less that a year old). So in less than a year, I have spent $4000 to have the same issues repaired (not really) twice.
2006 Nissan Maxima: abs activates with normal braking. This is a safety issue, and it is an obvious defect on Nissan's part. However, the recall has never been issued, and Nissan charges thousands of $ for the repairs if the vehicle is out of 36,000 miles warranty. The service bulletin has been issued in July 2007, reference ntb07-016b.
Every time a press my brakes the abs activates. It appears to be a wide spread issue as I has researched forums and there are lots of folks out there. It is very concerning as I do not stop as quickly as I normally would. Could lead to a accident.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. The contact was driving 25 mph when the vehicle began to slip gears and stalled. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer stated that the transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the front brakes were wearing prematurely at very low mileage and were replaced three times within one year. The contact stated the vehicle is very unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was 60,000.
I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima se that I bought new in Jan 2007. Several months ago I replaced the oem tires because I was old they were worn out and were the cause of steering wheel vibration above 60mph. I replaced the tires and front brakes/rotors at my Nissan dealership and the vibration was reduced but still noticeable. It gets worse with cold temperatures. They have inspected the struts and engine mounts and say there is nothing wrong with my car but the vibration is still there.
I have had to replace the brakes in my car over three times within a two year span. Brakes continue to scrub and squeal. Dealer says that they have done all they can do as they have changed multiple parts, costing me "an arm and a leg". You are a afraid to make a hard emergency stop because due to the sound, you aren't sure if they could "go out" in time. Transmission: care literally jerks into gear when backing up or taking off. You can't park too close to another vehicle or stop because car litterally leaps into gear possible causing you to hit another car in front of you. (feels like someone has rear ended you).
I purchased my 06' Maxima in 08' I had it for about 2 months and the cd player doesnt play any thing it skips spits the cd out and an error mesg. Comes up. I took it to the dealer and they "fixed it" so they say 1 week later it starts with the same issue I called and they said they can do anything about it maybe its the cd. So I never got that issue fixed. An other issue is my car has about 70k miles and every time the car goes 20-30 mph it has a hard hit to change gears every time. My car get serviced every 3-4 months and now I need a new tranmission!! I only work about 20 miles from where I live how can that be? also I had to replace some kind of brake part. Every time I went to brake the car made this noise and it started to shake the sound was this grinding sound then an other sound started like when you press the brakes and the roads are wet. But shaking real bad. I went to the dealer and they said its w & t on the car. When I asked him how offten this happens and he said not that offten so how can that be? other than that its little thing like my truck lock doesnt stay put I have to tighten the bolts of it once aweek please make Nissan do a re-call I have read all the compalints and they are all the same and expensive issue.
Nissan, Maxima 2006 anti lock braking system- the abs (ant lock braking system) fails due to corrosion. Nissan has a known failure (at least since 2008) of the abs for this model vehicle. The brakes will suddenly pulsate when engaged. There is a technical bulletin put out by Nissan which cost the consumer approximately 120. 00. However, some of the service centers do not know about the repair or either refuse to fix it in the manner that Nissan prescribes. Len stoler Nissan of owings mills maryland attempted to make me pay $4400. 00 for partial renewal of the entire braking system on a 2006 vehicle in 2008. I think the public should be made aware of the failure because it happens without any warning signs and the vehicle brakes in a delayed pulsating manner.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. In rainy weather, the contact hears a clucking sound when the brake pedal is depressed. The vehicle has been to the dealer three times, but they were unable to identify the cause of the failure. After the vehicle has warmed up, the clucking sound stops. The dealer repaired the rotors, but the failure still persists. There were no warning lights illuminated at the time of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000 and current mileage was 27,000. Updated 11/17/08 updated 11/21/08.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. Whenever the contact applies the brakes at any speed, he can feel a vibration coming from the steering wheel. As a result, the vehicle begins to drive very roughly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that all four rotors were warped. The vehicle was not serviced for the failure. The contact did not notice any differences prior to the failure. The current mileage was 45,000 and failure mileage was 40,000.
