Things keep getting into my air filter/ air filter box and airflow sensor such as leaves, sunflower seeds, cigarette butts, sticks. This has happened multiple times. Drive my car daily.
Car shuts down while driving. Hard to get back started. It runs for 30 min and when you apply gas the car shuts down. Seems like this is an issue on several year models. Try replacing fuel pump and that didn’t happen. Has a new battery and there is still and issue.
I bought this vehicle used and with the dash being defective from the heat and humidity, it puts off a glare on the windshield which makes it extremely difficult to see through.
My power steering pump has a slow leak in it.
For while the car would vibrate when hitting even the slide is bump causing instability in not only steering noises clicking but once we save enough money to pay for the fix finally finding out it was the insulator for the strut this part of the same recall which stated this insulator was a different manufacturer therefore not applicable to this recall.
My dashboard is melting causing a glare from the windshield! when I called Nissan, I was told that I have to pay out of pocket. However this a defective part from their manufactor thats causing the driver to not see!.
Unstable and wobbling when moving, especially go through rough surface. Sometimes, when hit brake, I feel like a little slide of the wheel.
While I was driving with my family on the interstate traveling back home I heard a loud pop and my sunroof exploded me and my family almost had a accident but I was the one that had gotten cut up and almost lost control I always use my sunroof and I'm afraid yo even replace it what if it happens again what if we die? my car is 8 years old and I also have my visor open I got lost of cuts and bleed thankfully we are alive!!!.
The dashboard in my 2010 Nissan Maxima began to melt and is very sticky to the to touch and the glare make it hard to drive if the sun is shining on the dashboard. This begin to happen in 2018. I called to dealer and the Nissan company, but because the warranty had expired there was nothing to be done about my problem .
Sunroof exploded while driving at highway speeds.
I was at home asleep when a text came through on my phone. It was a text from my home alarm letting me know that there was something going on with the garage. When I went to see what was going on, there were black stains on the walls by the garage entry door. When I realized what was going on,I called 911. I ran out of the house leaving my car keys and purse on the bar. When I ran to the alley, my neighbor and a police officer tried to put the fire out that came outside of the garage door(garage door was still closed). When the firefighters pulled the garage door off, the car was running with the lights on. Once the fire was completely out, the firefighters located my car keys and purse where I left them. The car was still locked because I always set the alarm when I get out of it and I did not have a remote start. So how did the car start by itself and the keys were inside of the house?I lost my house and car in the fire. Had car serviced at clay cooley Nissan in irving, TX April 25,2017 for battery dying, brake light was on,vdc light was on, brakes were making a noise, and when on brakes vibration in the steering wheel. Totally confused at this point not knowing what happened.
Nissan has on its site that the newer model Nissan Maxima after 2009 does not have the escl malfunction (electric steering column lock) but I just experienced it two weeks ago after dropping off my daughter to school. Luckily I was in my driveway when it occurred. When the car goes into that state, the entire car is on lock down it will not move. It can happen to you anywhere and you can be stranded. Nissan knows it's a malfunction and they are refusing to make it a recall, plus they promised that it would not happen to the newer models after 2009 but it happened to me on 11/1/16. In the site they tell you what they will do but it is not honored.
I was on the highway headed to nashville, tennessee. I had beem driving aproximately 45 minutes when my gas pedal stop working on me. The car started slowing down and I start pulling over to get outbof other cars ways. The breaks were still working but the gas was not working. I turned the car on and off and still no gas but alll of the sudden all the lights came on so I had no choice but to call my insurance for roadside assistance. I have never had or heard of an issue like this.
Ac turns off and on while stationary or moving. I've had this car almost 3 years now and every year I've had to get my ac serviced.
Both of these incidents happened in a parking lot and the car was stationary. Car wouldn't start as a result of a stoplight switch being faulty, resulting in push button start not working. Replaced for $166. 07 on 01/13/16 and then car wouldn't start again a month later on 02/09/16 and had to replace the steering column lock which if defective wont let the car start with the push button, at a cost of $1. 141. 22. The battery also had to be replaced the same day as one core was bad as a result of the key light on the dash staying lite the whole time it was being towed and repaired. It stayed lite and wouldn't recognize my key fob in the car as a result of the steering column lock being faulty. On checking the internet on these problems, found Nissan has had so many complaints with these two distinct problems and have not done a recall. However they had to know of these problems and corrected them as the 2012 Nissan's haven't had any of these issues. I think we should be reimbursed for these bills.
Tried turning on my vehicle and the steering wheel was locked. Cannot start my vehicle, the brake is not working and the steering wheel is locked.
Dashboard is sticky and shiny which causes the sunlight to reflect up into your eyes while you are driving and makes it difficult to see. Sometimes it is almost blinding. We bought the car used and didn't notice the day we bought it.
The steering mechanism failed on my 2010 Nissan Maxima. Based on short research I have found this is a common problem with this year/make/model. Nissan should be recalling this part.
Car will not start consistently. It appears to be the steering wheel ignition lock. Nissan will take no responsibility on the issue. Dealing with the non-english speaking rep at "Nissan America" was frustrating.
My engine light came on yesterday morning car was stalling a little was driving in my neighborhood when my car started slowing down once I put my foot on the accelerator it started to make noises like a motorcycle and wouldn't move fast. Car stop on my street and we had to push it into my driveway. Now when I crank my car it makes the motorcycle noise for a few seconds and then goes away. Can't drive it but can change the gears with ease. Took it to a shop and stated that it is the transmission.
I arrive home at approximately 3:00 pm (pacific) and park my vehicle (I dont move it at all). At approximately 4:00 am (pacific) about 13 hours later. . . The vehicle is completely engulfed in flames!! the fire dept. Says it could be - it is more than likely an electrical fire.
I have 2010 Maxima and it has been working great. This morning, I started the car to warm it up for my daughter and turn it off for about 10min. When she was ready to leave, the car would not start. Car has power and door locks work fine locking and unlocking but nothing happens when you push button to start the car. Looks like many complaints about the same problem that is related to steering being locked and there is no way to unlock it. 2009 Maximas had the same problem and Nissan did a recall to fix it but nothing on 2010. . . Why ??? this is a safety concern and needs attention ASAP.
Driving vehicle at a speed of 60 mph when a portion of glass from the panoramic roof detached from the roof assembly. Reported the issue to dealership on 2 different occasions about water leakage prior to this happening. Dealer 1 stated they could not recreate issue. Dealer 2 stated that a seal was causing a water leak but a weather seal would not cause a panoramic roof to detach. Nissan still refuses to acknowledge a manufacturer defect even after the roof completely detached from the vehicle and is also unwilling to help their customers. This could have caused serious injury as I was on a major highway. Please make this as a known issue and force Nissan to release a recall or TSB at the minimum. The next person who this happens to may not be so lucky. There are also multiple reports of this same roof glass on this model exploding while driving.
My car would not start was able to open the doors to the car but could not start the car. Car was towed to Nissan service station was told the steering lock had to be replaced for internal failure and it was no longer under warranty. $899. 67 dollars later and as I'm leaving the service station I'm told my warranty was up by a few days and also Nissan had extended the warranty for 2009 models but not 2010 models this is a copy taken from Nissanassist. Com released in 2013 (q1. What is the reason for warranty extension? a. To ensure customer satisfaction. Model year 2009 altima and Maxima vehicles are equipped with an electronic steering column lock (escl) unit that locks the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is turned off to help prevent theft. Nissan has determined that on a small number of vehicles, due to a manufacturing irregularity that has since been corrected, the escl may malfunction after the steering column is locked and could prevent the engine from starting. What will be the corrective action? a. Nissan will extend its new vehicle limited warranty coverage for the affected part numbers from its original duration of 36 months/ 36,000 miles to 72 months/unlimited miles ) I investigated on line and there are many complaints by owners with 2010 models that have this same problem Nissan admits to a manufacture problem how can they not be responsible for replacing it free of charge for all 2010 with the same problem.
The steering lock assembly is faulty in many 2009 and 2010 Maximas, as well as other Nissans. An extended warranty for 6 years/ unlimited miles was issued for 2009 Maximas only, even though Nissan knows that the same issue affects 2010 Maximas. Nissan has worked with other customers and reimbursed them for the faulty part they installed, but they were not interested in helping me because of the mileage on my car. However, if the same warranty was issued, I would have been covered since I still fall in the 6 year timeframe. Nissan should issue a recall for these faulty parts, or at least extend the same coverage to other Nissans since they know they installed a faulty part. I paid $869. 17 for the part, $83. 00 to be towed to the dealership since the car wouldn't start because of the faulty part, and $35. 00 for a rental from the dealership. This was a very expensive issue to fix. Nissan should reimburse me for this repair since the part installed is faulty and it is known by Nissan that it is faulty.
I went into my car and tried to turn it on only to see the yellow key light light up on the dash along with my steering wheel locking up on me. So I call Nissan they try to give me a couple tricks to maybe get the steering wheel to unlock and nothing worked, so I had to get it towed in. There they said the electronic steering wheel locked on me and there was "no specific cause" as to why this occurred. And the real kicker is that my car is still covered under the factory warranty but this issue isn't included in that warranty so I had to pay over $900 to replace it. The part that baffled me is that this issue is covered under the 09 Maxima and 2010 370z's warranty but the 2010 Maxima even though it has the same issue is skipped over for some reason.
Went to grocery store with 2 kids (3yrs/2yrs old) came out and car wouldnt start. Yellow key light & red key light was lite on dash. The car would open and close with key fob but car still wouldnt start neither did it recongize the key fob when placed into slot. Had to get it towed to repair shop to later find out a steering lock module had gone bad. Read reviews online about different year models recalled for same part #487009n00b but no recall issued for 2010 Maximas yet several people are having the same issue. Repair shop and I can not get part listed above because its on national backorder was told I have to pay upfront for part $500 in order to be placed on a waiting list and part is ordered then would have to wait anywhere from 40 to 60 days and still not guaranteed. Called Nissan about issue and they can not do anything until the part is ordered. Called around myself to find part and very diffcult. If this part was an issue & recalled prevouisly why did they continue to use it? and no alternate part has been made to replace exisiting part. Im getting the raw end of the stick handed to me. 1st to pay out of pocket with no guarantee of the part 2nd to have to pay to have car towed 3rd for the part being on national backorder. I dont expect a car with 52,000 miles to give me issues like this & not be covered being thats its a known probelm. Im very frustrated at this point. I have to make alternate arrangments to get to work. This needs to looked into ASAP!.
Went to start vehicle, and nothing happened. The vehicle wont even turn on, the key fob batter was replaced and same thing happened. The orange key light turned on in the instrument cluster. After talking with several mechanics and service department at Nissan dealership. I was informed it was the steering lock, apparently it is a common issue.
