1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 08/19/2024

Forward collision warning turns on about 20 seconds after the car starts. There was no accident or obstructions to the sensors, this apperas to just be equipment failure on a car with only 30k miles on it.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 05/26/2022

I purchased this vehicle used a couple of months ago. The automatic emergency braking initiates inappropriately while using icc, it brakes without obstruction. Also, the distance sensor isn't working properly according to the dealer. When I use icc, and sometimes when I am not using it, I get an "unavailable, front radar obstruction" message. The icc stops working when this happens. It happens every single time I drive. The dealer I bought it from (not a Nissan dealer) won't address it. The Nissan dealer I had to pay $160 to diagnose it said it has a faulty distance sensor, which will be repaired if I pay over $1000. I only have $13,000 miles on this vehicle, and it was 11,000 when I bought it. This has a Nissan service bulletin easily found online, a known issue to Nissan which is a safety issue, but it isn't recalled and should be.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/08/2021

I would have my cruise control set and it would detect I was too close to another vehicle (which there was no other vehicle anywhere). The cruise would shut off, and I would be unable to reset my cruise due to the radar sensor problems. This has not yet evolved a collision or other accidents. I know that this is dangerous to the point of relying on something and then it just stop whenever it wants. I do not wish any accidents, but it sounds as though if no one has been seriously injured or even death that this would be a continuing thing and somehow cost the owner money to fix a Nissan problem. I would also have my cruise set and it would detect a vehicle in front of me, and instead of adapting to the vehicle's speed it would beep then turn off. All while in morning traffic, and would have to manual accelerate since it no longer was working. I have taken my Maxima to the local Nissan dealer ship with no positive out come.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 03/28/2021

My cruise control stopped working. I took it to my Nissan dealer where I purchased the car. They advised me I needed a new transmission. However I had just put a new transmission in 3 years prior. I have never had this issue with any other vehicle. I spoke with Nissan consumer affairs who admitted there was an issue with their cvt. But they refused to do anything about it. They stated there is no recall and it’s my responsibility to fix it. The fix is not cheap as the cvt requires a brand new transmission that must be programmed specifically to your vehicle. They were not taking responsibility for the issue that they know is a problem. It is very frustrating to own a vehicle with a company who refuses to fix something they know is wrong. They are not the only ones who mentioned there is an issue. The dealer themselves have seen this numerous times and advised Nissan won’t do anything to make it right with any consumers. This poses a safety hazard in my eyes. Had this gone out at 60 mph it would not shift and could have been a significant safety risk. I am now out over $5,000 to fix the transmission. This is an unacceptable practice and they should be held responsible for continuing the this do nothing and not be forced to make a change in their production and design.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

In June 2019, while driving my 2018 Nissan Maxima, the vehicle suffered a sudden and violent mechanical failure. Without warning, the steering wheel jerked forcefully to the side, and the vehicle became uncomtrollabel leading to an approx 100-foot spin across a median. ?I have since verified this vehicle was subject to NHTSA recall 19v-807 for an abs actuator leak that shorts the circuit board. This defect caused the crash, which resulted in a traumatic brain injury (tbi) with extremy worsening memory loss 4mm spinal shift (l5-s1). I have comparative mri scans (2015 vs. Post-crash) confirming the injury.
