When I brought my car after 2-3 months I had transmission problems, I took it to the Nissan dealership to get it fix. After , a couple of weeks I still was having problems with the car , I took it back they said , it wasn't nothing wrong with it . Then my air condition went out, it was my air compresser took it in to the Nissan dealership to get it fix, after, a week or two it went out again took it back to the dealership to get it looked at I was told it needed a part ( some type of clip ). June 10 , 2014 my car was on fire in my garage while I was sleeping. When I woke up that morning my headlights were flashing off and on . When I open the door my window was full of sut and my windshield was cracked . When I open the car door on the driver side the dash board and under the dashboard was melted , the odometer and the fuse box (everything on the driver side was melted ) . You can smelled the smoke, that it was on fire. The fire department was called out just in case it sparked back up. Under the hood was not damage. I have pictures of damages. They had to push the car out of the garage it wouldn't go into gear. The results was it started from the fuse box. My car was totaled out by my insurance adjuster. I feel this matter need to be looked into and something need to be done about this situation . This is a serious situation that need to be looked into before it happen to someone else .
In refrence to > NHTSA campaign number: 03v455000 component(s): engine and engine cooling I nearly crashed when my car died while merging onto a freeway. My car doesnt start like it used to. Very rough starts, continuously to get the engine to turn. It will die while car is moving. This happens abruptly and suddenly while driving. Rpms idle higher than normal. Engine loss. I used obd scanner to decipher the problem. I looked for recall online and found the one located above. It is identical to my issues. I contacted Nissan and they refused. I could have died. Please help thank you!.

Ses, tcs, and slip lights on. Engine running roughly. Dx from auto zone on ses is ignition coils. Upon checking internet, this is a very common problem with Maximas and can cause engine failure. Requires replacement of all 6 coils. Very costly. Is there a recall? recommendations state that O2 sensor should also be replaced. Any possibility that the Nissan company will repair for free since this is such a common problem and must be a defect?.

Abs braking system failure and actuator defect; abs system sensors and hubs previously replaced in August 2009 after notification to Nissan. Nissan has failed to notify public of an abs system design defect and to issue a recall although it has known about the problem in its vehicles since approximately 2004 and the dealers have been issued an advisory. Failure of these components can lead to failure in proper braking, significant reduction of engine power, loss of speedometer, and reportedly fire. Nissan also has been notified of re-ocurrence by complainant and refused to take responsibility for repair.
Brake "actuator" started humming or running as soon as car ('06 Nissan Maxima se) was turned on away from home. Continued to kick in abs at every brake application creating unsafe (or at least not normal) braking situations and continued to run when car was shut off. Abs light, tcs light, and slip light all activated continually. Codes c1110 & c1105 & c1106 were present after scanning at local garage. Battery drained after car shut off due to actuator continuing to run with car shut off. Per research and other TSB or Nissan-issued techincal bulletins, the rear hub abs sensor frequently malfunctions due to a design flaw in the car. If driven while malfunctioning (as in this case) the controller/actuator may malfunction. Turning off "abs" while driving seems to keep the actuator from running, but also makes driving less safe, especially in inclement weather due to turning off tcs/abs. I've had to replace this out-of-pocket (despite being an extremely common problem with this model vehicle). Sensors and actuator were replaced. Vehicle driven again. Less than 8 months later, same issues return. Nissan dealership replaced rear sensor per codes, new code for actuator shows again (after sensors placed in) and they require me to pay out of pocket again for new actuator. This is obviously a design flaw in the car (per many other reports) and should be recalled immediately for repair.
I was driving north on e I-94 at the posted speed when the call started to slow down and would not accelerate past 40 miles per hour. The sluggish speed continued off and on until I reached my destination. On my return trip home, the multitude of lights came on during the drive (tcs off, brake, abs, slip) and the car would periodically go between sluggish and regular speed. When I took it to the dealership, the car was diagnosed with have a bad abs actuator and one bad speed sensor, total cost of repairs about $2400. From what I've read, this is a recurring Nissan problem across models and should be recalled. It is unconscionable that we should be have to pay for a company mistake.

I was driving my car at 40 mph in light rain. As I approached a red light, I lightly got on the brakes. Immediately, the abs kicked in. The amount of braking force was well below the margin where abs should kick in. Thinking it was a onetime deal, I drove cautiously and tried braking again. This abs again kicked in immediately. The abs kicking in did lengthen the stopping distance as I was not applying the brakes hard enough to effectively slow down. On the next attempt, acceleration, traction control kicked in upon acceleration, causing the car to shake violently. My car was taken to the shop where the right rear wheel speed sensor had build up on it. Checking forums about my car, this was a common occurrence and seems to be a design flaw. Under different circumstances, a collision could have resulted due to the issue. Nissan has a service bulletin for this issue, but in my eyes, this issue is should be a investigated further as control of vehicle speed is compromised.
Failure in abs system. Abs, tcs, and slip warning lights show after the occurring sound of grinding in the brakes. Apparently this is a known problem in 2004 - 2007 Maximas. There is a TSB floating all over the internet documenting the problem and possible repair procedures. Dealer wants close to 3k for a known issue!!!.
Abs, slip, tcs & brake lights came on suddenly while taking off and there was excessive vibration. As a result, there was (and still is) a total loss of abs & tcs systems. . Engines revs high & surges while taking 1/4 mile to reach 40mph. Diagnostic states that there are problems with the abs actuator, speed sensors & wheel hub. &2,858. 65 to repair. Given the lack of acceleration reliability as well as the loss of braking & traction systems, this is a serious safety issue.
Car periodically goes completely dead even when it is turned off and in park position . Key light keeps on blinking and eventually nothing works. I have to get another car to recharge the battery for at least 3 min. This is the 3rd occurrence and second battery. Brought the car brand new.

I felt abs system actuating via pumping sensation in my brake pedal while I was driving on dry pavement. It performed worse when going uphill, at low speeds and on flat surfaces. Error codes were generated and "dummy" lights went on. The braking was not very effective as a result of the abs kicking in erroneously. Thankfully I was keeping a safe following distance and was able to brake with some room to spare but if I had regular brakes without the abs malfunctioning, I would have stopped more quickly. Thankfully nobody was hurt this time. Mechanic investigation indicated this is a known problem. The service bulletin: ntb07-016b has the information you need to fix the abs problem. However, it was not caught in time to help me avoid a failed actuator.
I took the car into a Nissan dealer for a abs issue I have where abs,tcs and slip light is coming on and maken a horrible noise . They told me the actuator and rear hub needed repair for a total of 2270. 00 plus tax. This is a major issue and in my opinion as a mechanic should be a national recall, for all the people haven this issue is the united states and canada.
Unsafe start. Engine will hesitate before going into gear at the same time will initiate high rpm's on it's own causing a unsafe start in crosswalks, driveways and public streets. The engine/transmission will engage in high rpm's on its in multiple gears before moving forward causing sudden jerks and fast starts. Transmission has a hard transition from gears causing a vibration throughout the car when changing gears. The Nissan north America corporation was notified in writing of this problem in 2012.
The abs system, specifically the actuator, in the 2006 Nissan Maxima failed. Initially, the abs system would activate every time the brakes are applied. It first occurred on dry pavement at highway speed (55mph) braking and then all subsequent braking thereafter, regardless of speed or road condition. Now the car is in fail-safe model where the abs system, traction control system, and electronic brake force distribution are inactive on the vehicle. Nissan dealers estimate the fix to be approximately $3000, with the majority of the repair in replacing the abs actuator. The vehicle has never been flooded and has only been in very minor fender-benders (repainting of exterior parts). From my prospective, it seems very unusual for the actuator to go bad and appears to be a defective unit.
I previously reported my 2004 Nissan Maxima se as having power train transmission problems. I took my vehicle to bp Nissan and they did a diagnostics on the transmission and determined that a new transmission was needed. Nissan to call me back today, we'll see. After the dealer did the diagnostics, I was driving home and what a coincidence, the "check engine light" came on. It seems that every time I have my car to the dealer for one thing, shortly after lights start coming on. I guess they don't reset or something as they should.
I have a 2006, Nissan Maxima se. I've been having severe problems with my transmission. The car jerks violently when its changes gears between 1st and 2nd, as well as between 2nd and 3rd gear. After doing research on this problem online, I've seen countless number of people who complain about the same problem. I re-built the transmission at my expense of $3,200 and it wasn't over yet, then currently my check engine light is on and my car wont start, I would have to turn the key on and off 4-6 times every time I need to drive for it to start. My speedometer stopped working, therefore I can't see how fast or slow I'm driving nor is the mileage calculation are working it has been stuck at 86,745. So many people have experienced this problem from 2004 to 2008. I don't see how this could go on. While driving on the highway the electrical fails and the lights on the dashboard dim to where I am not able to control the vehicle and unable to use my signals for safety concerns, especially while traveling at night time. The vehicle shakes and is unstable at times. This is my only transportation to and from work and I need a solution to this problem. The sad part is that I have taken it to the dealer four times now and every time I pay these high fees for diagnostics and they can not give me a solution to my problem.
The abs control module on the Nissan 2004 is not only faulty but dangerous. The problem comes from a short on the passenger rear wheel sensor short which in turns causes the abs module to fail. The abs motor will run even without the key in the ignition causing the battery and motor to become very hot.
The car has electronic steering and is a safety hazard in my opinion. The car will drift to the right on its own and when you steer it back to prevent running off the pavement the car veers to your left and would run off the road to your left if you do not correct it. On a straight stretch of road holding the steering wheel straight the car will dart to the left and then to the right without moving the steering wheel. On the test drive I rode in the passenger seat and could feel the car moving to the left and right, the service mgr said he could feel it also but said that was because of the crown in the road. This problem becomes a safety problem when on narrow four lane roads, you must constantly fight the steering wheel to keep the car on the road or keep from running into the car on your left. I have took the car to the dealer and was told that I would just have to get used to this because of the electronic steering is different from my previous cars. I was told there was no adjustment that could be made to correct this problem. I am 70 years old and have driven a few cars in my time and can tell you this car should not drive the way it does, it is just an accident waiting to happen. It feels as if the car is trying to drive itself without turning the steering wheel, there seems to be a problem with other vehicles with the electronic steering - Toyota and Chevrolet and just wondering if they all have the same electronic steering components. . I sent Nissan an email of my concern and dissatisfaction by the dealer saying nothing could be done to correct this problem. I can't believe they are blaming their problem on the crown in the roads!!.

While driving at interstate highway speed, vdc, slip, abs and traction control lights came on and stayed on. Car was able to still be driven with no issue. Upon taking car to the dealership, we were informed the actuator needed to be replaced. We declined the $2000+ repair as the car was still drivable. Upon searching google for this issue there were multiple incidents of this happening for other consumers and even a Nissan repair bulletin noting a design flaw in how the wheel hub can not drain causing the abs sensor and actuator problems.
My abs light came on about a year ago, I took it to the mechanic shop to have them look at it. And they told me I needed to replace the rear wheel hub and the abs sensor so I did which cost me $800 dollars. The mechanic told me they get a lot of Maxima in there shop with the same problem. He said it was a Nissan manufacturers flaw. So make the long story short after I replaced the hub and the abs sensor my abs light still stays on and now I need and abs control module which went bad because of the wheel hub getting rusty.
For about 8 months my abs system would engage in the morning for about 5 miles or so every time I tried to stop. After that they were fine. I took the car to a few shops and they could not find the problem. I was told that since when this was happening the abs lights were not showing in the dash that it was probable that it was a brake problem instead. I replaced the brakes and rotors with no luck. Three months later the whole abs system failed and blew out.
I purchase my 2004 Nissan Maxima in July 2003. Since I have had the car I've had nothing but major problems. I perform the required maintenance on the car and still have numerous problems. I have had to replace things that should have lasted on the car the cd player has been replace and when out again twice. Tensor assembly and timing belt also 1500. And now I have the replace my transmission another 3100. 00. This is ridiculous for a car that has a luxury price tag. Nissan has not be helpful at all and do not try to answer of help in any way. Nissan needs to recall all 2004 models.

Check engine light keeps coming on, had to replace idle control module twice for 500. 00 each time because engine diagnosis indicated failure. Car does not start right away, had to press pedal lightly to restart even after idle control fixed. Failed smog check, discovered catalytic converter failed, had to replace for 800. 00
further diagnosis: ignition coil number 4 and air flow meter failed, serviceman said this is rather common with Maxima.

At 12,500 miles I was driving and it was like someone put it in neutral. Towed the car to the dealer and they changed the transmission. At 34,000 miles, it started knocking and smoking when you first start it. Brought to dealer and the gas was mixing with the oil. My claim was denied so I had to replace the engine. Now at 110,000 miles the car won't shift out of first gear. I'm a single mother and do not have any more money to sink into this lemon.
