38 Seats problem of the 2002 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

The driver's seat in my 2002 Nissan Maxima gle does not move forward making it difficult reaching the petal. Also, the seat can drop to the ground making visibility poor where you may not be able to see what is in front of you. This problem just occurred about 7 months ago out of the blue. I am the only person who dirves this care and rely on the car for transportation to work daily. It is apparent that this matter is a threat to the safety of the driver of the car and Nissan should recall and fix the problem. Toyota stepped up to the plate at least they care about their customer's safety. This is a very serious safety problem and I hope Nissan looks into this immediately. Thanking you for your time and hope this will help everyone that owns a Maxima by Nissan issuing a recall on their front seat safety mechanisms that are defective. I've never owned a car where this was an issue before and would not want someone to get injuried b/c this problem could have been corrected by Nissan.

40 Seats problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 03/11/2010

I purschased my 2005 Nissan Maxima brand new in April of 2005. I paid cold hard earned cash ($35,000) for this car. We refinanced our home too buy an reliable, sturdy, dependable, stylish, road car (instead we got a lemon). I have had many issues with the car. The headliner constantly falling down over my head while driving with the sunroof open, the sunroof not opening and closing properly, the O2 sensors going out constantly, , the brackets being replaced, the leather seats look as if I have razor blades attached to my bottom side, and the trannsmission is awful!!! at 65,000 miles it started going out. The local dealer replaced the tranny without admitting any fault on Nissans behalf. At the time we did not know about the troubling problems with the 2004-2005 trannsmissions. They only charged us for the labor cost. We actually thought "wow, they are cool"!! here we are at 157,000 miles (about 70,000 later and the tranny is:jerking extremely hard ( it feels like I am being rammed from the rear by a 18 ton semi-trailer) between going into 1st and second gear and again back in reverse from 2nd into 1st gear. The problem has gotten so bad that is is now hesitating in shifting and I have had enough!! I have done my research, and this is an epedemic. Nissan has too step up and fix this problem. This country has hit a recession. Us hardworking americans deserve better than this. Please help us consumers. Thank you sincerely, tiffany willis.

41 Seats problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/12/2010

The vehicle was purchased 2009 new. Approx 1 year later the drivers seat began to rock. Nissan replaced the drivers track which they said was defective. A few months later it began to rock again and was reported to Nissan, they stated there was no problem. The seat continued to rock and increasingly got worse. January 2014 the vehicle is returned to the dealership because it is dangerously rocking back and fourth when you accelerate or brake. The service manager states he is well aware of the problem. Nissan refuses to make repairs because its out of warranty. Further investigation finds that there are thousands of vehicles out there with the same problem. I attempt to go threw Nissan to own up to their problem. I get up to the vp of customer service and receive a phone call stating there is nothing they can do but keep my receipt in case there is a recall and I may get my money back if there's a recall.

42 Seats problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 12/11/2009

Driver's seat is not securely anchored to floor - it rocks slightly as I operate the vehicle. The dealer has attempted on 4 occasions to remedy this problem, and has not been able to. I do not believe the seat is sufficiently secure to protect me in a serious collision.

43 Seats problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 11/10/2009

The drivers side seat recently started to rocking toward the drivers side door which alerted me to having a problem. This happens every time I get into the car the seat is leaning to the left door. I contacted the dealer in which I purchased the car, they said it is nothing they can do because the warranty is up. I should contact the manufacture Nissan which I have also done .

44 Seats problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 09/26/2009

We own a 2009 Nissan Maxima that was purchased new on September 25, 2009. When driving the vehicle with my wife in the passenger seat the air bag system turns of the airbag. My wife is 5'5" and 125lbs, well within normal adult size. Upon discovering the problem we have taken the vehicle into the dealerships mechanic 4 times over the last 11 months with every time other than the initial visit lasting almost a week each time. The last time we took it in I called the dealership manager and was told that they had no record of our vehicle being in there shop ever. Upon the completion of the final trip to the shop we discussed the issues at length with the service manager of the dealership and we replicated the issue in both the 2010 and 2011 model Maxima's. We have since called Nissan looking to have our car purchased back or have the problem repaired so that the airbag will work with her in the car. At that time we were told that Nissan's airbag system was designed to take into account all factors and make a decision at that time. As of August 20th 2010 we have been told that there is nothing wrong with our car and that the airbag is functioning normally. Let it be noted that there are several instances of this problem documented across the web.

46 Seats problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 07/27/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that her vehicle caught fire. Smoke appeared from under the driver's seat and the vehicle was severely burned. The contact extinguished the fire and there were no injuries. The dealer advised her to call the insurance company. She was informed that there would be a $1,000 deductible, but she does not want to pay. A complaint was filed with the Nissan manufacturer. The failure mileage was 95,000.

47 Seats problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

The drivers seats in many 2009 Maximas are unstable and rock back and forth while the car is in motion. When accelerating, stopping or turn corners the seats rock causing your foot to be unstable on the brake or accelerator.

48 Seats problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/23/2009

On June 23, 2009 my 2005 Maxima was parked in an enclosed garage within my home. On that same date I attempted to enter my vehicle and was greeted with an extreme amount of smoke upon opening the driver's side door. No fire was occurring, so I opened all car doors and garage doors to clear the smoke. When the smoke cleared I discovered my car had, at some point in the prior 8 hours, had an interior fire and had luckily self-extinguished. The fire seemed to originate near the fuse box, located to the left of the steering column, on the under side of the dash. The fire melted the fuse box and surrounding dash area, spreading around the underside of the steering column to just above the ignition on the dash. No police or fire emergency services were called as the fire was out. My insurance was immediately contacted and a tow ordered to take the Maxima to the nearest Nissan dealership. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs to advise them of this fire. After a few weeks they communicated that Nissan would not investigate the fire. My insurance covered the cost of the repairs and the repairs took place. Upon completion of the repairs the dealership discovered when they tested the lumbar switch, that it was overheating the fuse panel and that it would need to be replaced. My insurance was contacted to come out to the dealership to assess the new discovery. The insurance adjuster, service manager, and service technician met and agreed that the cause of the fire was a pinched lumbar switch and it needed to be replaced. I paid the cost of the switch as insurance only covers damages. The lumbar switch was recalled in 2006. My lumbar switch was repaired in April of 2006. The recall states the lumbar switch wiring could become pinched and cause a fire. I asked both the dealership and Nissan consumer affairs to refund and investigate my fire and it's association to the recall. At this time neither is cooperative and refuses to assist or investigate.

50 Seats problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 04/14/2009

In January 2009 I purchased a brand new 2009 Nissan Maxima. In April my interior lights, steering wheel and seat and the heat on my drivers side seat stopped working. I took my car in to the Nissan dealer for repairs, I was told that there was and electrical problem and that they had repaired it. Two weeks later the same thing happened to me when I went to georgia, when I got back to maryland I took my car into the Nissan dealer for repairs again and was told that they could not find anything wrong with my car. On may 19th my steering wheel stuck in the highest upward position again and also my seat was not working, and the locks on the doors kept locking and unlocking while my car was turned on but not being driven, on may 20th I took my car in for repairs again, the service writer at the Nissan dealer looked at it and also noticed the problem ( my steering wheel was still stuck in the upward position and the seat was not working), after he played around with several buttons he told me that everything seemed to be doing fine and he didn't know if they could do anything for me. I told him that I would leave my car for repairs because I knew something was wrong still with my car. I received a phone call from the dealer and was told that they could not find anything wrong. I know something is wrong, so where do I go from here. This has been three times that they have tried to fix my car and I am getting nowhere.
