11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

I was driving my Nissan Murano going 45mph when suddenly the engine light flashed, the air went out, and the car shut off. I was pressing the gas but it wouldn't do anything and it suddenly shut off. I've been to several shops that can't find a problem so they told me about the recall on the 2003 Nissan Murano. They think it's maybe electrical or engine cooling.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2013

I was driving my vehicle and the engine stalled. Once it happened when I was driving at about 25mph and the vehicle just shut off and twice when I was at a red light while the vehicle was ideling. Also I was driving in the hwy last week and the engine lst power for about 3 second, putting at a great risk for a crash. The other problem I am having is the passenger door actuator that stopped working so when I lock my car that won't lock putting my vehicle at a risk for being stolen. I called Nissan corp because I knew that was a recall id # 78963 - engine and engine Nissan is recalling 362,891 my 2003-2007 Murano vehicles. The intake air ducts, which are connected to the intermediate resonator in the air intake system of the engine, may separate from the resonator with engine movement. This separation occurs due to the premature aging of the material used in the intake air ducts which causes excessive shrinking, and because of that engine may stall increasing the risk of a crash. However the representative said that there is nothing to worry about and my vehicle was not included in the recall even though it is the same model and year of the vehicle recalled.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2013

The car stops in traffic with no warning. It stalls in traffic there is a recall for this but my VIN is not included this is so dangerous and Nissan doesn't care. They have a recall for my year and model for the same thing my car is doing but because my VIN # is not on there they won't fix it so I guess someone has to die before something is done. So many people have the same situation as I do. It is disgusting that you pay all this money for a reliable car and they n know there is an extremely dangerous situation and they don't care. The electrical system is bad engine light going on all the time alarm going off all the time. Engine burnes oil very quickly. All these things are wrong with this year car it is just a lemon that u have to keep pouring money into ands it dangerous on top of it.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2012

First incident: while turning into a parking lot car shut off all warning lights on dash lit up. Since no power to car I was not able to turn or use my brakes effectively. I was stopped in the oncoming traffic lane. I was able to use my four way lights. Car had to be towed as we were unable to restart the car. Second incident: while driving on a city street at 35 miles an hour once again car turned off and I was unable to use gas or brakes related to no power. I barely was able to get about halfway into the turn lane to get out of traffic. Almost causing an accident. This te I was able to wait a few minutes and after a few unsuccessful attempts to start my car it finally began running again.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2012

It was hot outside. I was on a major highway and all of a sudden I was unable to accelerate then the car lost power. I had to have my vehicle towed to a mechanic to find out my fuel pump fuse blew. Since then within a month time my car has lost power twice and abruptly stopped running on a major highway going about 55 mph. Putting myself and kids in a very dangerous situation. After sitting for about 20 minutes the first time and a hour the second time I pumped the gas pedal, turned the key and it started right up. I purchased my 2003 Murano only 4 months ago and never thought I would be here today scared to drive. Nissan needs to take these complaints much more seriously before someone lose their life behind this defect.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2012

Please help! I have been having issues with this car ever since I bought it at this small dealer in arlington va. Saturday March 3, 2012, my Nissan Murano stalled. I am afraid the car will stall when I am driving on the highway and this could be a safety issues for me and other innocent people. This is not the first time it stalled. Today my driver side window is stuck and won't move up or down. Must be some electrical problem. I have contacted Nissan on issues with this car before and they refused to help me. Can someone point me in the right direction as to who I need to talk to and who can help me to get this resolved? I truly believe this car needs to be recalled and is not included in the past recalls that have been recorded. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

The door lock on the driver side went out and shortly after the rest of the door locks in the vehicle began to fail. Because of this issue, I am currently at risk of theft if the door lock do not completely lock. I received an estimate of $1600 to fix the issue and I have heard that's by others are having the same problem.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2011

Driving 60 mph when vehicle suddenly stopped running. Brake and engine lights came on. Was unable to get off roadway and other vehicle had to turn sharply to avoid hitting me. This was the first incident. Have had two incidents since.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

Second owner, purchased with 63000 miles. First occurrence was driving on the highway a short distance (45min) started to notice the speed pulsing on flat stretches of road with the cruise control being set at 60 mph. I would manually take over the gas pedal just to have to constantly give it more gas then less gas to maintain 60 on flat ground. To the point of nailing it to maintain 60 then out of no where it would start to go accelerate suddenly up and I would let off the gas to stay @ 60mph and hold the pedal there for about 20 secs just to lose power on flat ground again and would just repeat over and over. When I got off the exit ramp it was sputtering really bad and had a hard time just getting it home w/o hurting myself or others. Next day nothing. Then over time (1 month) it happened 4 other times but is seeming to get worse. Then today I stopped in town at a red light. When it came time to go the care jus sat there and the rpm gauge moved up but the car didn't move forward. I immediately put on hazards, put car in park, shut it off, then restarted it to luckily be able to pull off. Went on highway home going 60mph and the surging back and forth with power to weakness to sudden power was the worst its ever been. Car isn't under warranty due to being 2nd owner but come on Nissan really? I'm a student/new father and the $ is crunched like most families now in this economy. I bought a Nissan b/c its reputation of quality and endurance/resillience. I would be sick if this injured my baby b/c this car wasn't in the "original recall range". It is very dangerous and could lead to both my tires locking up on the highway going 60 or even faster leaving not only us in jepoardy but everyone around me on the road also.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2011

Front door locks working intermittently when using the remote. .

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2010

I own a 2003 Nissan Murano. I bought the vehicle several months ago. . Last night we were driving on a very curvy mountain road when a car came into sight. When we switched to dim, the lights went out completely. This put us in total darkness. It took a minute to adjust our eyes and realize what happened. This has happened on several occasions. The dimmer switch is on the steering wheel. The switch to turn them off is on the end of the dimmer handle. We keep our runner lights on each time we are driving the car. Some how when you go to switch the lights the knob turns to off, which makes them go out, when you switch from bright to dim and from dim to bright. This is a very scary situation to be in. I wonder if other folks have had a similar problem. We were very fortunate that we did not crash.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2010

Total and sudden loss of power while at 65-70 mph on a crowded freeway. Thanks to a trucker in a lane to my right running interference, I was able to coast to the shoulder, where we sat in 102 degree heat until we could get help.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

The passenger side door lock is not locking or unlocking completely when using the remote or key. It appears to be locked, but the door can be opened from outside the car and visa versa. Starting in may 2011, the driver's side door lock is doing the same thing. I'm also unable to enter the vehicle through neither of the front doors and have to enter through the back doors to unlock the front doors manually from the inside. This is a safety issue as I or a passenger can get locked out of the car or think the door is locked while in the car and someone from the outside could gain access. In case of emergency, I may or may not be able to get into or out of the car. Starting in November 2010 while raising the window on the passenger side with the power window button, it automatically lowers on it's own on occasion. It stops when half open. To keep it closed, I have to inch it up slowly. Again this is a safety issue. The lock to the gas cap failed to open around 40,000 miles.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2008

The door actuator, for the right rear door, does not function properly. When I push the electric "doors unlock- lock button" on the driver door panel, the door does not lock or unlock, as it should.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2008

When in traffic under appx 10 mph, you accelerate and it does nothing, then suddenly takes off. You don't know when it is going to happen. It is very random and once it starts doing it, it keeps doing it until you stop the engine and restart the car. I have to pull out on a busy street in the afternoon, and have almost been hit. I have taken it to two Nissan dealerships and all they do is say it is a vacuum line. They said I needed new motor mounts to keep the engine stable so that they won't get loose. I had them replaced and it did not fix the problem. The problem does not throw an error code, so no one, including a very reputable auto repair garage, can fix it. We have even started guessing what the problem might be, ie, fuel injectors - had them cleaned - no change. I have now spent almost $3k and I still have the same problem. Nissan tells me that there is a recall, but not for my serial number. I have been dealing with this since about may.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2007

2003 Nissan Murano sl awd is having a problem with acceleration from the start. It hesitated to speed up, my foot it all the way to the floor. After a while the car would launch. If I turn my engine off (while moving) and restart symptom will go away. Sometime it comes and need to restart during rush hour traffic. Constant worries during rush hours.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2006

I was traveling out of town alone with my 3 children and after we had been on the road for about 3 1/2 hours, the front windshield wipers came on by themselves along with the back windshield wipers, the lights were going on and off by themselves, the left blinker came on by itself, and the dash information (dte, fuel economy) was just coming on and off by itself. There was water coming out of the fuse box on the drivers side, and you could hear a sizzling sound. I took it to the nearest Nissan dealer, they said they fix it and I got back on the road and it happened again 2 hours later same stuff. I just turned off the ac and kept driving with everything going crazy, because all the service departments were closed and I could not get anyone to help me. When I arrived at my destination I took it to the nearest Nissan dealership the next day and they said that the ac hose was loose and was allowing water to get into everything. I hope it is fixed, but I am now scared to drive it anywhere and I have to travel 6 hours away from home every now and then because I have a child 6 hours away from home in college and you never know when I will have to go up there unexpectedly. I am thing about trading it off because I do not feel safe in it anymore, but the trade in value is a lot less than the pay off.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2006

After I lock up my Nissan Murano I will come to it from a movie theater of from my home to drive it and both of the front windows will be completely down and the vehicle will be unsecured. This morning my Murano was full of snow since we had 12 inches last night. I took it to the dealer and they played with the key fobs and nothing would happen and as we were standing their with no one touching the key fobs - the windows went down by themselves again. This feature is only supposed to happen when you hold down the open button on the key fob to let in cool air in the summer before you get into your Murano. Robert dittel.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2006

Driver and passenger front windows roll down by themselves when car is shut off, unattended, and locked.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2004

The consumer states that the 2003 Nissan Murano experienced a loss of power while driving at 20 mph. The vdc off and the slip where the lights t came on in the dashboard. These lights came on the first time that this happened. The next time that the loss of power was experienced the light did not come on. The car has been at the dealership twice for this issue. The dealer has no idea why the car is doing this, specifically states the consumer. The consumer has contacted Nissan directly by mail and received a message from Nissan that they wanted to schedule a final repair attempt at the dealership. The Muranos shifter was also sticking, and you could not get the car to go into park or reverse. The car would not go any higher than neutral. The car has been in the dealership three times for this problem. The owners of the car have filed for the lemon law.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2003

Nissan Murano has dangerous design defects compounded by unresolved electronics problems. Design flaws: 1) ineffective defroster system , 2) long-armed wipers clog easily, 3) all doors must be unlocked to get gas (inviting carjackers). The defroster-wiper problem was made worse by electronics. While I was clearing windows the car locked in 13 degree weather. The car: 1) locks doors at random intervals , 2) puts the windows down without warning (the service manager says, "don't not leave valuables in this car!"), 3) the remote entry system often does not beep requiring that I check all doors (especially given the other problems with locks), 4) now the car sometimes tells me that the driver's door is open (when it is not). The car is virtually new (less than 6,000 miles). Nissan knows they have this problem. There is an internal service memo it. But when consumers complain they are "stone-walled" with, "we could not duplicate the problem. " last Friday my caracted up at the dealership. The service manager acknowledged in writing on Nissan letterhead. This problem exists and it is in a number of models -- maxima, altima, titan trucks, and Muranos. Nissan shouldrecall all of the affected vehicles, provide rental cars while repairs are made, and to issue credit vouchers for all of the past aggravation they caused by their failing to provide good-faith solutions to the problems they know exist.

33 Electrical System problem

The rear taillight was out, the door ajar light remained lit even when the door was closed, the drivers side mirror was replaced, the windshield was distorted and therefore replaced, the cd player was inoperative.
