1 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

I was turning on a highway loop and I'm short so I had the seat all the way up to be able to see. When I started turning there was a bunch of cars behind me and the back of the seat made a loud popping noise and I hit my head on the window because the back right of it gave out. I pulled to the side of the road and got my self together. This happened to another coworker with another Nissan Murano but she had less problems since she's a tall woman and when the seat broke it didn't go all the way down. Looking at the seat the back right of it has a big metal bar piece that snapped. It no longer goes all the way up making it a hazard to drive without getting it fixed. * dsy.

2 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2016

From normal usage, the front side driver's seat broke (in 2016) from what I believe is a defective seat bracket. Now the seat wobbles and rocks whenever I am driving and when the car moves side to side at all. Seat broke upon exiting vehicle. I weigh 163 pounds and am the primary driver. No sudden movement created the break.

3 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2015

I have always been a fan of Nissan until now my driver side seat broke , one of the brackets on the left side has completely broken in half, and by the looks of the many complaints Nissan has gotten about the very same issue it is very clear to me this is a factory issue. I do not understand how they have investigated this issue and came to the conclusion that it is not a safety issue just by the fact that there has only been a free minor injuries so far, the whole point in issuing a recall is to prevent injury , due to the high number of complaints should be probable cause for a recall in itself. That is ridiculous how has no one issued a lawsuit against you people yet.

4 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

My drivers side seat just broke on the back left side so now you can't sit in it and drive. I now sit crooked in the seat and don't feel safe driving it, what if I was in an accident and my seat now might throw me somewhere because it is now broken. This should be a recall.

5 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2014

Making a turn onto a cross street and heard a loud popping noise, followed by the driver seat becoming unstable. When the turn was completed, it became obvious the driver seat was broken. I did some research and found that this is a known problem with the Murano, and has been reported numerous times across multiple model years. Appears that there was even an attempt to force a recall, but that was never followed through. Filed a complaint with Nissan - required a detailed service report (~$125) before they would do anything. Found that they would not fix for any car outside of warranty (and this apparently usually happens after the warranty period has expired). Typical dealer cost to repair is $800 to $1200. Can also be self-fixed by replacing a bracket ($100) or welding the broken piece (~$80). To me, this is a dangerous situation as the seat can break at any time when the metal has fatigued. I felt fortunate to not have this happen at a higher speed.

6 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2014

Seat bracket broke when my wife was driving down the road. This caused the seat to tilt forward. I called the local Nissan dealership and they wanted 1036. 00 dollars for a part, for safety reasons should be recalled. If one of these brackets(they have a problem with front and back) breaks during a wreck, the seat angle could effect the effectiveness of airbags. My wife is scared to drive it. This seems to be a problem with these vehicles. Called Nissan corp. They said there was nothing they could do because there is no active campaign to recall.

7 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

The driver seat bracket broke on the left side. The seat now tilts to the left. When discovered vehicle was parked and not used. On that day I just sit in the car and seat tilted to the left. Looked under neat the seat and saw that the meat bracket that holds the seat broke in two. This is serious safety issue for me as a driver. I am just glad that the bracket did not break while driving that could have caused an accident. Read several forums on internet where people complain about same problem. Nissan needs to fix this issue. Recall is needed.

8 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2012

While driving on road I was waiting at green light waiting to turn left. As I began to make the left hand turn across oncoming traffic my seat lifted several inches off the vehicle floor. My body felt as if I had been forcefully lifted and pushed simultaneously. This required me to pull the steering wheel to the right, the opposite direction I was turning, in order to regain control of my own body. This was hazardous to oncoming traffic and. Myself as I nearly had been t-boned by the oncoming tractor trailer and nearly ran off the road, down, a 5 foot ditch, and through a fence. It was a terrifying experience. I've never experienced or have heard of a seat breaking. I am not overweight nor have been from the time I have owned the vehicle, 6 years. Its baffling as to why a drivers seat would malfunction in such a manner. I immediately researched my problem and found this was previously investigated by the NHTSA and closed for the reason of not having posed a safety issue due to no documented occurrences while driving. Well here's your documented occurrence that nearly caused a family of four their lives. It's absurd the number of complaints on the formentioned issue and there isn't a recall. My vehicle won't pass inspection with my seat in this condition yet NHTSA deems this as a safe condition in which to operate vehicle. . . I'm baffled how this is classified as safe to drive. . . It's not.

9 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2012

Driver side seat bracket broke during a turn. Temporarily caused me to loose control of vehicle but was able to regain control before an accident could happen. Our only car and we have a 2 1/2 year old child. After doing research on this, I discovered that this is a very common failure and Nissan has yet to issue a recall.

10 Seat Broken problem

11 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2011

I own a 2004 Nissan Murano and the driver seat has broken within the last 2 months. It rocks side to side and front to back when applying the brakes. I took it to a mechanic and paid to have it welded but it did not hold. This is dangerous as if it breaks while driving, this structure failure to the driver seat could cause a fatality. This is a common problem with this vehicle.

12 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

My 2004 Nissan Murano awd se front driver seat broke . I took it out and paid to have a guy weld it . Others have told me that it is a common Murano problem . Some suggested that it is already a Nissan recall issue but I can't get any info to prove it . It still flops around . Also the front wheel bearing went at 75k miles but that's another problem . The doors lock automatically if you slam the door sometimes . Imagine jumping out of the car to put mail in the box and when you come back it's locked ? dealer said he fixed it . . . He didn't . The tail gate back door latch sticks . Also the metal rim of the gasoline filler neck got rusty and pitted . Consequently the gas cap didn't seal properly and the check engine light came on . The dealer wanted 800 dollars to change the filler neck . I sanded it and fixed it for nothing .

13 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2010

The driver seat became unstable and would adjust without using controls. Seat just broke (the frame) and almost caused us to crash due to displacement and listing to the left. Very scary. Just found out this is a common issue and that it will be nearly $1000 to repair.

14 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2009

2004 Nissan Murano, normal usage of the driver seat, noticed seat rocking 9 months after I bought it "certified used", took it to the Nissan dealer, was told it was a broken seat bracket, cost to repair $948 + tax. The complaints on this issue with other owners is endless! this is a major design flaw, a seat should never break like this under normal wear, and should be recalled by Nissan after so many documented complaints.

15 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2009

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. While driving the car the drivers seat suddenly collapsed to the left. Luckily I was on a side street going slow and was able to keep control of the car. I had a mechanic look at it and the anchor bracket under the seat has broken off the hinge. The cost of repair will be approx. $1000. 00! it is not a warranty part. After investigating there have been many complaints from other Murano owners with the same problem. In addition your website states it was investigated and closed. How can this not be a safety issue, if I was on the parkway driving 55 mph and my seat collapsed I do not know what could of happened. Do we have to wait till someone is killed before this is investigated better and taken care of! I do not see any other records of drivers seats breaking like this in cars that are 4-5 years old.

16 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

2004 Nissan Murano driver's seat is broken from frame. Seat tilts to the rear- left and rocks up and down when sitting or putting weight on seat. Electrical functions of the seat (up/down and back and forth) are working. Concerned with safety issue not having the seat properly secured. Seems too much movement (rocking) could be a danger if in a collision - unsure if the seat and seat belt mechanism will work properly if in a crash. Will be taking the vehicle to Nissan dealer for repair. Don't know replacement costs.

17 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Normal everyday usage of my front driver side seat. One day for no apparent reason the front driver side seat broke. The seat is now unsafe and rocks back and forth. I took it to the dealer for repairs and was told it was a broken seat frame and cost $1056 to repair. I cannot drive the vehicle now because the seat is unsafe.

18 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2009

As I was making a left turn driver seat broke off the left track causing the seat to rock dangerously. This seems a common problem in this vehicle I have seen and heard about many other cases. This should be a recall from Nissan to fix the faulty seat track mechanism. I have been able to temporarily fix this problem by welding the track, however this keeps happening and has become a danger to my life. I am not sure if this problem could be fixed any more. I was given a quote of $1,200. 00 dollars by my Nissan dealer, however, I am going to continue the temporary fix described above and when that ultimately completely fails, I have no idea what to do. I hope Nissan finally realizes that this is a factory problem which needs to be recall before a big tragedy happens and someone looses their life/lives, and Nissan gets sued for millions of dollars. Nissan cars are expensive and not enough said about their pricey parts!!.

19 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2009

I have a 2004 se Nissan Murano and the driver seat has broken. I was driving my Murano while coming to a turn and heard a loud snap sound while immediately my driver seat went left against the driver door making it hard to control the wheel. I could have had a wreck trying to brace and control my balance of the car. I am 179 pounds and weight could not have played a factor in this seat defect do to reading many, many complaints about this same issue happening to Nissan Murano owners. The metal assembly bracket has broken I later discovered. I have contacted Nissan and it is not under warranty and to have repair is estimated at 1,000 dollars. This is outrageous!!! there needs to be a recall on this part by identifying it as a safety hazard and could cost someone their life !!!!!!!!!!!.

20 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

Drivers seat tilts on turns, worse on left turns. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a broken seat track. I asked them to repair and was told the area manager refused to fix. There is a technical service bulletin on this and it is beyond dangerous. The left front of the seat barely hangs on as the bolts are broken in the back. I have done some research on this and it is a prevalent problem with this car. I am complaining as I feel it is extremely unsafe.

21 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2008

Nissan Murano 2004, front drivers seat broke loose while parked and being sat upon. Seat replaced 12/19/08 at a consumer cost of $965. 72.

22 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2008

I own a 2004 Nissan Murano, and today after only owning the car for less than a year, the driver seat (automatic) broke and is leaning to the left. I am covered under an extended warranty and this problem will be covered by Nissan, but to those many owners of this vehicle that this has happened too, I feel obligated to report this issue. I feel this is a driving hazard and could cause a serious accident or even death. When the seat broke, I was in moving traffic of around 45 miles an hour, and I almost swerved to the left and hit a car. This is a parts issue that Nissan should cover. I think it would be unjust to allow Nissan to not recall this item and repair this item for free. I weigh less than 185, so I doubt this problem was due to weight issues. It's a defective parts issue. Please contact Nissan to get this corrected.

23 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2008

Regular driving, 2004 Nissan Murano se, noticed one day the drivers seat started making a creaking noise. I didn't pay much attention till one day while cleaning the interior, I pushed against the seat and it moved back and down towards the drivers rear left. I researched the issue on Murano. Org, and found out it was a broken seat frame. I also had mossy Nissan check it out and they also told me it was a broken seat frame. Due to the cost of the repair, and the likely hood of it recurring, I did not fix the seat through Nissan.

24 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2007

I have a 2004 Nissan muruno and the passenger seat started making a clicking sound everytime I would turn, but at that time I did not know what it was. Then a few weeks later the I was driving and made had to stop abruptly and the seat broke. Then my seat was leaning to the side. When I took it to the dealership in raleigh, nc on wake forest road. I was told that I would have to buy a brand new chair. Which I think that they quoted me $800. 00 then that was not including labor. That was almost 2 years ago. I am still riding with my seat leaning to the side.
