41 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano and have had numerous "incidents" regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. The mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. Numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. I have talked to the Nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and I must replace on my own expense regardless if I have a warranty. I have contacted the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. I find this outrageous and danderous. An online search yeilds a large number of other Murano owners with the same problem.

52 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2009

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano and both sun visors keep falling. I've tried velcro and even glue but to no avail. These faulty visors are dangerous because they tend to fall when I am driving and momentarily obstruct my view. I've come close on a few occasions to hitting a vehicle in front of me becuase of this. The cost to replace these visors is exorbitant ($350 or more ea) and while researching where to buy them cheap or even a method of repair for this defect I've found that there are multiple Nissan owners with this exact same problem.

53 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2009

Driver side visor of vehicle falls down on it's own. Blocks driver's vision. Occurs at least once a day. Some times more frequently depending upon the road. If the roadway is bumpy, the visor will fall more frequently. This happened all of a sudden, without any events leading up to the failure. When I checked online, it turns out this is a fairly common problem with this vehicle. In some instances the dealer will repair. In other instances they will not. Cost of the repair is around $400. 00. I plan to go to the dealer tomorrow and hope they will repair.

54 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2009

Driver's side visor on 2005 Murano has lost its ability to stay in the up position reliably, causing it to drop into the driver's line of sight frequently and with no notice, causing a total obscurities of the road. Have investigated this problem online and it seems to be rampant in this model car. Only solution from dealer is to charge an outrageous $400 to replace the visor. Have never had this happen in any other of my 12 cars owned.

55 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

Sun visor in 2005 Nissan Murano with 55k miles doesn't stay up all of a sudden. This started happening for no apparent reason. It's loose when in the up position, and if the car hits a bump, it falls in front of the driver. It is difficult to drive with it down all the time, and quite dangerous when it's up and all of a sudden falls when driving. It costs $375 for a replacement visor. Both the local Nissan dealer and the corporation refused to assist with the cost of the part, and this is a problem that, according to internet research (and the local dealer's own admission), numerous other people have encountered. This issue poses a serious safety hazard, yet is cost-prohibitive to have fixed.

Driver's side sun visor falling down while driving. Won't fall all the way down-just enough to be in line of vision. Talked to Nissan about replacement parts-not covered by warranty and b/w $350-$425 to replace(not including labor!) something needs to be done about this-high risk for accident-trying to use velcro at this time to keep in place-not really working!! just hit 60,000miles on it!.

61 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2009

2005 Nissan Murano drivers side sun visor will not stay up. Visor falls unexpectedly causing the driver to be momentarily blinded. This is a safety issue and Nissan needs to offer replacement spring clips to keep the visor out of the drivers vision.

62 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2009

Driver side sun visor will not stay up regardless of the position it is in and continues to fall down blocking the driver's view. It falls down unexpected while driving suddenly blocking the driver's view of oncoming traffic, traffic signals, etc. I (and many other owner based on blogs and reviews) have contacted Nissan several times, filed a complaint and requested a recall, to no avail. This is clearly a safety issue that should have been addressed in earlier vehicles. Undoubtedly there have been accidents and near misses due to this obstruction to the driver's view of the road and traffic flows. A recall needs to be called to get this matter addressed especially since the manufacturer is well aware of the hazard it creates and that the component failure has been in existence since at least 2003. File # 6909366 was been created to document my concern by ginger knight, consumer affairs representative, Nissan consumer affairs. If a recall has already been issued, please advise of the information so I can get this fixed. If not, please consider this and the numerous other complaints regarding this key component failure. The failure continues. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

64 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2009

Fortunately, we have not had an accident, but the drivers visor on Nissan Murano will not stay up or down, its "floppy" and impairs vision while driving. It seems to be widespread from reading online but Nissan just wants to sell a new part to replace it, which eventually will develop the same problem.

66 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2009

Normal vehicle use, about 45k miles. The drivers side sun visor fails to remain in the up position. This leads to critical driver blinding at unexpected times, usually during stops or turns when sight is critical. Nissan would not repair under $400 and no after market parts have been found. A search shows this to be a known common issue affecting driver safety.

Failure Date: 08/04/2009

My 2005 Nissan Murano's driver side visor will not stay in the up position. This causes problems with visibility while driving and is a safety hazard. The cost to replace is very high for such a small part.

The spring fails in the sun visor of the 2005 Nissan Murano, causing it to fall suddenly downward, suddenly obscuring the driver's view. Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem, and this should definitely be a recall. Nissan forums indicate that this has been a problem for some time.
