This car has an electrical problem. The dash board lighted components flicker back and forth from dim to bright when the headlights are turned on. The headlights when turning on go from really dim to normal when turning on. I have noticed this at night while driving. When going to buckle my son in his car seat the seat belts thin the rear lock and do not release. Unless all the slack it it is returned to normal. Which sometimes takes 3 to 4 times to be able to buckle him into his seat without the seat belt locking.
Car loses its electric power. . . Shuts down in the middle of driving. The seat belts in the back do not work. The driver and passenger seats shift.
3 year old child was appropriately buckled into car seat in the back seat. She managed to reach the seat belt and put it around her neck. Her older brother noticed this and started yelling at mother who was driving. Mother pulled over and tried to remove the seat belt but it had locked. Mother flagged down passerbys. Fortunately, this occurred on a us military base overseas where first aid kits are required in all vehicles including trauma shears. The trauma shears were used to cut the seat belt away from her neck. The child did sustain bruising and injuries to both the front and back of her neck, but no long term problems. This is a physician who is filing the report as I evaluated the child for her injuries.
While adjusting the drivers side power seat, something in the power seat mechanism appears to have broke and the seat in now uneven, and feels like it is coming off the rails especially when going into a curve, where you must hang onto the steering wheel for balance which causes undue anxiety for fear of losing control. The seat feels like it is off the rails, and when I use the power seat adjuster, it only lifts one side of the seat. This happened over 2 years ago at about 45,0000 miles. I now have 70,000 miles. I have learned if you keep the seat adjusted so that its closest to the floor, then there is less of a feeling that the seat is coming off, than if the seat is adjusted to a higher position. I have chosen not to get this repaired solely due to the $1,100 expense which it appears to cost to repair this safety issue. It's an annoying issue, it reminds me of the Ford I had as a teenager that I had to use rope to keep the driver door shut.
The seatbelt release mechanism has become intermittent (sticky) over the past several weeks. This appears to be due to the collapse of the driver's seat frame, which occurred on this vehicle several months ago. The seat belt appears to be anchored to the seat frame on the right side, and to the vehicle body on the left side. The wobbling motion of the driver's seat due to the collapsed frame appears to affect the seat belt tension, which may be affecting the operation of the release mechanism. I am awaiting the safety recall on both of these issues.
