1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2025

Vehicle will not accelerate. I will drive it a few miles, and it will be just fine. I drive it more, and it will stall and not accelerate. In fact, on 6/30/25, I was getting on the highway and it wouldn't accelerate and 8 warning lights came on. It has a brand new battery, alternator, idle sensor, and throttle position sensor. My dad and grandpa both know a lot about cars, and they are at a loss.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2025

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the contact noticed an electrical burning odor and there was white smoke coming out of the hood. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart and was jumpstarted with the assistance of the contact's brother. The vehicle was taken to autozone, where the battery was replaced. The contact stated upon driving from a complete stop, the vehicle went into safety mode and failed to exceed 2 mph. The abs and battery warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence of the contact's mother. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced complete battery drainage within 18 hours of replacing the battery. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an unknown alternator recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2021

After multiple repairs the brake light and battery light continue to come on. My vehicle turned off while driving. I believe it's a faulty voltage regulator for the alternator. This seems to be a common issue for my type vehicle.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2020

Vehicle has had to have motor in the engine replace. The cvt transmission completely stopped working causing the vehicle to stall and break down while driving on the highway. The electrical in the car went out and the car is no longer able to operate.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

All power to the vehicle was lost while parked in garage. Once car was jumped, all warning lights came on and stayed on. Drove to the shop to get new baterry. Speedometer was not working, map on gps was not working. Mechanic diagnosed that the abs actuator needs to be replaced at a cost of 3,500. 00. The car is unsafe to drive as I have no way to cover the cost of the repair. This apparently has been an issue with 2009 and again 2011 they 2017 vehicles. Why was 2010 skipped in the recall. I have a car in the garage that is unsafe and while all other years have been recalled, the 2010 owners are driving unsafe vehicles which could lead to disastrous accidents. Why is NHTSA not looking into this? will it take crashes to get someone's attention?.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

My front driver door and rear passenger door do not lock or unlock when I press the buttons on my key. This is a safety issue because I do not want someome breaking into my car and stealing anything. This issue is an expensive one to fix and I know a few people who have had the same problem. Ive been told its the actuator to the ppwer locks. Once one goes then they all start going. We should not have to pay for this out of pocket because this is a safety issue. Nissan should take care of this problem free of charge with no questions asked. This happens when my vehicle is in park. The power lock does not lock or unlock the front driver side or the rear right passenger door at all. I have to open the doors just to manually unlock another door.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2017

The steering lock actuator disabled. . . I see that there are thousands of complaints about this same issue.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2016

Brake like and battery light came on and car just shut down within 3 miles. Car only 6 years old. New battery replace a week ago.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The problem has occurred over a period of about 6 months. It started with the front driver side door not unlocking, only on occasion, with the fob. It was a slow progression but the unlock button on the door wouldn't unlock it either. It slowly progressed the effect the other doors as well. Before we knew it, no doors will unlock with the fob or the unlock buttons. We now have to use the key to unlock the driver side door and use our hands to unlock the other doors.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2015

Drivers door does not lock and unlock. Bad door lock actuator mechanisms. $400-$600 to fix per door. Major safety hazard!!!!.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2015

I am the original owner of my 5 year old car. It has low mileage and has been regularly maintained. My fuel gauge and mile range indicator are no longer accurate or in sync. They both fluctuate erratically. I can leave my driveway and go to the end of my street (9 houses) and lose 20 miles according to the indicator. On the other hand, I have driven 125 miles and end up with more gas than when I started. It has been taken to the dealership 3x where they have changed sensors etc. To fix this. I contacted Nissan America who had one of their engineers contact the dealership. Nissan's final decision is that it is a characteristic of the car and they would do nothing more. I have many concerns about this decision. It isn't easy estimating what I have in my tank when both gauges are incorrect. It is stressful and dangerous especially when taking longer trips. I am a single woman and am in my car, driving alone, most of the time. What if I am in the middle of traffic and because of the misreadings, I run out of gas? what does this do to the re-sale value of my $35,000. 00 car? if this is a characteristic of my car, why wasn't I told about it when I bought it? this is more of a flaw than a characteristic. How many other Nissan owners out there with this same problem? I find Nissan"s final decision unacceptable and that is why I am contacting you. I'd like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration concerning this matter.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Volume in vehicle randomly turns to blaring loud without even touching the volume control. This has happened multiple times and continues to be an issue. I do not have the function turned on that makes the volume increase as speed increases. This has happened while the car is sitting in my driveway. It is scary and distracting during driving. Also, the dash control for the volume and hvac don't work properly, as one click can turn either up 5 or 6 notches, also leading to blaring radio and/or high/low temperatures/fan. There are many cases of this that I have seen from other Nissan owners posted on the internet.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

The radio volume knob has an electrical defect. If you touch or use the volume knob the volume will automatically increase unexpectedly. This is a problem when driving. It will turn up so loud and unexpectedly that I have all most crashed my car. At this point the stereo is inoperable. Also was told the steering column has a crack. I bought this car brand new. That feels like a defective part and not something that the owner should have to replace, but should be the responsibility of the car maker.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

As stated in a previous complaint, the radio volume will change suddenly from a low setting to maximum volume without touching the volume controls. This can be very distracting especially when the car is in traffic. This has happened on numerous occasions and continues to happen. We have to be sure to keep the radio off when driving in traffic to avoid a possible collision caused by the sudden and unexpected blaring of the radio volume. Along with this is the fan speed control does not follow the input from the rotary knob-it goes up or down independantly of the position of the knob. These two items seem to be related to the control panel as others have commented on the same problems in various auto forums.
