When accelerating from a stop vehicle does not move, with gas pedal to the floor will slowly advance or stall. Has a battery drain somewhere also.
The rear subframe has rusted through due to road salt and made the vehicle unsafe to drive.
This car I purchased two months ago has the cvt transmission in it and has proven unsafe for regular traffic let alone highway driving. It randomly “lurches” , has a loss of power and hesitates when accelerating or lane changing .
Driver sunroof exploded while driving. Nothing impacted the glass to my knowledge. Occurred on 1/21/23, 54xxx miles on the vehicle, no previous accidents. Gloomy day approx 30f, heat on and drivers window opened about an inch. No injuries.
Sun visor on driver and passenger sides do not stay up.
Power loss on take off. Issue has been occurring for over a year and is intermittent. When starting off from a stopped position, ie stop sign, red light, or highway onramp, the vehicle will engage, but immediately loose acceleration. The gas peddle can be fully pressed, with no reaction. After a few seconds the power gets restored and vehicle takes off as if engaging a jet booster. A visit and diagnostic check at a Nissan dealer, did not reveal and faults or codes, and issue could not be recreated. This issues is random, and based on a Nissan owner forum, I learned it has plagued the Murano and is lexis counter part for different model years. No forum entries as to known cause or corrective findings by the dealerships or mechanics.
The drive's side sun visor keeps flopping down, blocking driving view. It happens when the vehicle is in motion on any street.
Our car has 60000 miles. It has been well taken care of. The problem that we are having with this car is you can be driving down the road and all of a sudden the sun visor will drop and block your vision. I have been driving over 50 years and I have never had a problem like this in any other vehicle. The dealer said it is my problem and wants over 300. 00 to fix it. When I looked up to see if there was a way to tighten the visor I found out it is a on going problem with many people. I believe it is a manufacture and a safety problem. Like I said you are driving down the road and all of a sudden your vision is taken away. Please get someone to take responsibility for this problem.
My husband and I were driving on the highway when my sunroof exploded without provocation. There were no rocks, rapid temperature extremes, or no other visible reason for the explosion. Luckily the sun shade was closed and all of the glass was contained in the shade and we were able to safely pull over. I contacted the local Nissan dealer who told me that they did not handle that and that I should contact a collision center because they did not fix sunroofs. I called my insurance provider who did assist with the replacement roof, however, it took over ten days to fix. In addition this is counting as a claim which will make my rates increase.
1st incident- driving on main street of town hwy 31 s, car simply quit while in motion, while driving- no warning, no lights. Could not move, start etc. . Had to call police to assist me in getting the car out of the main highway. 2nd incident- driving on i65 s interstate, doing 70mph, car quit while driving! had to throw on flashers and coast it into the median, the cops were called and had to have it towed to mechanic. My daughter and I were both in the car and could have been seriously injured or killed. - called Nissan to report, they advised they knew of no recalls. And were unconcerned just advised to take to mechanic- where it was. 3rd- car is now doing the same, will loose power when turning, and going up hills- always loses power/dies when in motion.
Sunroof exploded while slowly driving on city streets. No bumps in the road or other vehicles close around. Traffic was low. Speed approximately 25 mph. This incident happened at approximately 4:00 p. M. Temperature was about 50 degrees fahrenheit. Glass looked bubbled out. We had to cover the broken sunroof before we could drive home 40 miles out of town. There were no injuries because the sunroof cover was closed. Exploding glass sounding like a gunfire. Photos can be sent when uncovered before sunroof is replaced by a technician.
"takata recall" on January 6, 2017 I was on my way home from work going 59 north just a little pass 6 pm. When all of a sudden I hear a big loud boom as I make my way to the right lane I notice that my sunroof is make a loud sound. I didn't want to pull over since I'm alone and it's dark. I made it home and I get out of the SUV and that's when I saw my front sunroof glass is busted. The next day I call the dealer and explained what happened said they can replace it so I make my way in just to be told they can't not because it looked like a rock hit it. As I explain to them that I was on the freeway with no vehicle around me I told them how is that possible. They told me sorry but that I'm responsible for the repair of my sunroof. I had to wait for Monday to come so I can get it fix. Attach are some pictures of the sunroof.
I was driving along I-44 east bound, and suddenly I heard a loud bang. Thought it was my tire, but on getting out of the car and checking I found my sunroof had exploded and there was a gaping hole in the middle.
I brought the car in for routine oil change and it took over 3 hours to complete. I was told that there was a recall that needed to be done but they would not tell me more except that it had to do with the air bags and the computer. I have not been able to get more information from the dealer after several attempts via phone and letter. I am concerned that it is safety related and that they are hiding something dangerous.
Safety recall.
Both sunvisors started to wear not long after I purchased the car used by 1year. Now both are completely broken one will not stay up at all. You can tell it has to do with the manufacturing on the clips because it's entirely too tight. Those broken also.
While driving about 65 miles an hour down the highway I heard a loud bang overhead. When I could get to an area to investigate what happened, it was the sun roof glass that had shattered for no reason. It was a big hole dead center of the forward glass. The glass broke into a million pieces with portions of it still able to fly away.
I was driving 55 mph on highway, sun was in my eyes so I lowered the drivers side sun visor. It immediately became floppy and I couldn't get it to raise back up. I had to hold the visor up with other hand while slowing and navigating safely to pull off of highway. With focused concentration, I can get the visor to go back up into place and stay but cannot safely use. It appears to be the "pin"? that attaches up inside the visor attachment to the car roof. ?.
Sunroof glass broke for no apparent reason. This happened in September 2015; car had been parked in the sun, followed by a thunderstorm. We discovered water coming in around the sliding interior sunroof panel and subsequently found sunroof glass shattered. It has been replaced under the glass coverage of our insurance. . Read more...
Driving on a clear day (50degrees) on Saturday April 25th, my 2012 Nissan Murano's sunroof exploded. The glass was protruding outward, as if it exploded from the inside out. There was shards of glass everywhere and luckily there were no oncoming cars because the sound it made inside the car when it happened caused me to swerve a little.
I have a 2012 Nissan Murano (sl) with about 35k miles on it. While traveling to work the morning of 09/16/14 the sunroof literally exploded upward for no reason. No impact, road hazzard, or other debris. Temperature was constant (60's) dry, no extremes. Part of the roof was the sliding section for the sunroof. Original sunroof as of purchase (I am the original owner).
On 4/26/14, while traveling north on rt. 7 in kent, connecticut at 45 mph in our 2012 Nissan Murano sl, my husband and I heard a very loud startling sound, which sounded like a gunshot and what I thought I heard along with a smash noise. We immediately pulled over to the side of the road. I looked at the windows behind the driver and passenger seats thinking someone shot at us. Nothing. We got out and looked at the tires to see if a tire blew out. They were all fine. Finally, a pickup truck pulled up alongside of us to ask if everything was alright. We told him what we heard, but everything looked fine. He left. Right before we got back into the vehicle, my husband looked up over the roof and said, you won't believe it, it was your sun roof. The entire center section of the sun roof that is above the front seats was a large hole, smashed from what looks like from the inside of the car going outwards. We didn't see any rocks or any other debris that could have caused it in the area, and there were no cars around us, no trees overhead and no overpasses at the time this occurred. Just the glass shards and pieces that were now sitting on the fabric visor that separated us from the glass. After researching on the internet, I came across many other complaints of what people were calling "sunroof explosions" or "spontaneous sunroof explosions. " I wrote to Nissan corporate regarding my concern of the exploding sunroof, and only received a generic boilerplate response stating I should take it to a Nissan dealership for repair. That was it from Nissan. This is an extremely dangerous hazard and I wonder why these incidents, which are posted all over the internet, have not been investigated to date.
