The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the air bag warning light was blinking. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the occupant sensor module had cause the failure and recommended that the seat frame be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 94,500.
The air bag light started blinking. We took the car to our local nisan dealership. We had to pay $220. 77 just to have them look at it. They said there was an occupant sensor unit malfunction and it needed the bottom seat pad replaced. We were then told “that it is discontinued “! we are left with an air bag that doesn’t work, and a blinking air bag warning sign that constantly reminds us of the danger we are in. I am frightened to death to drive the car and angry that it cost $220. 77 for nothing. When I asked what I could do - they said “you can trade it in and buy a new nisan”! we will never buy another nisan!! can you help?.
