The systems may fail and be unavailable for various amounts of time and then return to normal operation. The failure can be corrected by shutting down the engine and restarting. The failures occur at various times during a trip. When the systems fail, the blind spot warning lights do not illuminate, and the lane departure warning tone does not happen. The dealer has been unable to find any codes that would indicate a problem and therefore has no idea how to fix the problem. Since the driver has to monitor these systems more closely than normal, this could lead to a situation where the system is in failure when it is most needed.
