3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2025

I have been experiencing complete driving failure with my 2016 Nissan Murano. It shutdowns randomly without any warning well driving in traffic. I have already experienced being put in a crash risk three times. I have been trying to work with the dealer for almost 2 months now, only to receive my SUV with the same issue. I am terrified to be forced to put my children in such a high risk automobile as this is supposed to be our reliable transportation. I am highly disappointed and uncomfortable with the dealership stating repeatedly they don’t know what’s wrong with my vehicle as they are no codes to factually state the real issue. In the process I am being told I need to pay for highly priced repair guesses or problems that have been generated in their care trying to figure things out. The vehicle has even stopped on them while driving. After driving off their lot twice only to be stranded and put in a crash risk I am not comfortable with being rushed to pick up this vehicle without total safety concerns being addressed. Nissan has not addressed my concerns about their vehicles having recalls about this same issues, only stating it doesn’t show up for my VIN# well why am I having the same exact problem? the safety risks of the vehicle failing in the mist of traffic with absolutely no warning is a huge life threatening risk and shouldn’t be of the hardship of my family as I immediately had it towed to the dealership to assure safety for all. I purchased what I thought would be a safer longevity vehicle to transport my children. I am really having a difficult time with understanding of my concerns are of top priority. As I do appreciate being given a rental while they try a figure it out. My major concerns are being given the vehicle back at the same exact safety issues or worse. Please your cooperation in assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and started to coast. The dealer also mentioned potential engine failure. The engine was not repaired. The failure occurred 3 times. The contact stated that after the second failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the dealer was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The contact inquired about NHTSA campaign number: 21v774000 (engine and engine cooling, hybrid propulsion system). The dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that after the third failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who claimed that the decoration the contact applied around the push-start button was causing a malfunction in communication. The failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with alternator failure, and the alternator was replaced. The contact received a notice about an extended warranty coverage for the control variable timing (cvt) valve. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. 6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2022

On multiple occasions the engine has cut off. Once a few seconds after starting the engine cut out. Another time while waiting in a turn lane to turn left the engine cut out. Another time while driving in the center lane the engine cut off and additional times. It has cut while in park, it has cut off while in drive. This is very unsafe especially when driving and there are other drivers. There is no warning it is going to happen. This is my teen's designated vehicle and we have another teen who will be driving this car soon. We took the car back to the dealer just a few days after purchasing to have it checked out. They kept it for several days but couldn't find any issue. We picked up the the car back but after a few weeks the engine cut out twice and we took it back in. This time, there also happens to be a small oil leak. They said something about replacing the bank2/banking cellunoid and it might be a timing issue.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2022

The Nissan Murano’s were recalled back in 2020 stating their cvt was causing stalling issues mid driving and overheating in extreme weather (heat). I complained to Nissan prior to this recall and was told it was filter issue then a battery issue. Of course if was neither. The recall was completed, however for the past year and half my Nissan Murano hybrid stalls when the air condition is on during the summer. The car drives fine in the winter and late fall. I have taken my vehicle to 2 Nissan dealerships owings mills and ellicott city wanted to ensure of the issue. Both came back with the same answer, for the consumer rep ali suggested getting a second opinion and I informed him I did. The hybrid cvt is overheating mechanical failure due to a part inside the transmission. Nissan refuses to fix stating I need to pay $11,000 for a new transmission to fix the issue. The service rep john stated no other Murano has ever had this happen and of course they no longer make my year (2016). I have contacted Nissan consumer line twice and was informed they will not be doing a good will either. The cost is so high was told because they have to build a new one. I believe Nissan knew of this problem and ignored and was hoping the recall would fix the shudder and shut off of the vehicle. Another recall needs to be done on cvt’s for the brand Nissan and should be responsible for fixing this.

I am having transmission issues. The car vibrates when I am driving and accelerating between 15-50mph. I also have water coming in my vehicle and causing mold from the passenger side. I have taken the car to 3 dealers and I have contacted Nissan. There has not been a resolution yet. I had the transfer case repaired twice within less than a month at a Nissan dealer. The vibrating/growling noise is still present. I simply want my car to be fixed.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2019

I took my Murano in for an oil change and had a 30k service check done at that time. A broken engine mount was found. Since the car had just 36,134 miles on it and I purchased it new with 281 miles on the odometer (dealer trade), I contacted Nissan customer service to request that it be considered covered under warranty. They emphatically denied my claim, thereby losing a loyal, repeat customer. I could understand if I was 10k over warranty, but 134 miles? this is a huge safety concern and I'd like for the broken engine mount to be noted. If I can help others by contributing to a recall or at least warning them of poor quality and bad customer service, then I'll feel I've done my part.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2017

I have owned this car for 5. 5 months now . It has a ramdam problem when I try to pull out. When I push the gas pedal down it may or may not pull out but if it hesitates [from 3 to 20 seconds] it will finaly pull out but if you have the pedal pushed down it will take off real fast when it gets ready to go. The problem is you do not know when it will deside to take off. It has done this between 40 and 50 times since new. I think this is safty issue because I can see how some one could pull out into traffic or into the back of someone if it was to take off at the wrong time. It has my wife afraid to drive it. I've had it to two dealers and they say they check it and can not duplacate what I say it is doing so they can not do anything about it. Most of the time it does this when I pull out from a stop weather in traffic or at a stop sign and weather the car is hot or cold.
